The Impact of FDI on Air Pollution in Myanmar (Moe Moe Zaw Lwin, 2025)
This study investigates the short run and long run impacts of Foreign Direct
Investment (FDI) on air pollution in Myanmar by utilizing yearly time series data from
1990 to 2023. PM2.5 is used as the dependent variable, while FDI is the main
independent variable and GDP, industrial output, and urban population are used as other
controlled variables. This study applies Unit Root tests, Johansen Cointegration, and a
Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and Diagnosis Tests. The variables become
stationary at first difference, I (1), and a long-run relationship confirm through
cointegration tests. VECM results present that in the short term, GDP, industrial output,
and urban population do not have significant effects according to the different lag. In
the long run, most of the variables, including FDI, GDP, industrial output shows a
significant effect on air pollution levels while urban population does not. The study
suggests that the policy makers should implement policies which promote green
investment, enforce environmental regulations for foreign investors, and support the
use of clean technology and renewable energy through incentives

A Study on the Impact of HIV/AIDS on Quality of Life in Hlaing Township, Yangon, Myanmar (Nan Su Khaing, 2025)
HIV/AIDS continues to pose significant public health challenges in urban
Myanmar, particularly in densely populated areas such as Hlaing Township.
Understanding the quality of life (QoL) among people living with HIV/AIDS is
essential for developing responsive and inclusive health interventions. This study aims
to examine the multidimensional factors influencing QoL among HIV-positive
individuals in Hlaing Township, focusing on physical, psychological, social, and
environmental domains. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing
survey data from 120 respondents collected through the WHOQOL-HIV BREF
instrument. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze and interpret the quantitative
findings. Descriptive statistics and thematic analysis were used to interpret the findings.
Descriptive statistics and thematic analysis were used to interpret the findings. Results
indicate that while ART adherence is generally high, psychological distress, stigma,
and economic hardship significantly affect QoL. Social support emerged as a protective
factor, while gaps in mental health services and health literacy remain. The study
recommends targeted, community-based strategies to improve QoL and reduce
structural and social barriers to care
A Study On The Role of ECCD Programs Implementation in Hlaing Thar Yar and Shwe Pyi Thar Townships (Khine Zar Nwe, 2025)
This research utilized structured questionnaires to evaluate ECCD programs at
Department of Social Welfare-funded centers in Hlaing Thar Yar and Shwe Pyi Thar
townships, while providing an overview of Myanmar's national ECCD landscape.
Findings indicate that while the Ministry of Social Welfare leads policy and funding,
substantial implementation support comes from private donors and local communities.
The majority of enrolled children show significant developmental progress across
cognitive, social, emotional, and language domains. To enhance ECCD quality
nationally, the study proposes six key actions: (1) nationwide ECCD awareness
initiatives, (2) enhanced educator training and certification, (3) targeted infrastructure
improvements, (4) harmonized health-education-nutrition services, (5) robust data
tracking systems, and (6) sustainable financing mechanisms. The approach
emphasizes adapting global best practices to Myanmar's cultural context, particularly
for the critical infancy-to-primary-school transition period. These evidence-based
recommendations address both immediate service gaps and long-term structural
needs, offering a pathway to achieve equitable access to quality early learning as
envisioned in SDG 4.2. The study highlights the importance of maintaining multi
stakeholder partnerships and coordination mechanisms for scaled implementation
Assessing the Drivers of Deforestation in Myanmar (1992-2023) (Min Thura Soe, 2025)
This study examines the human-induced drivers of deforestation in Myanmar
over the period 1992–2023, using secondary data from the Central Statistical
Organization (CSO). In this study, descriptive statistics, the Augmented Dickey-Fuller
(ADF) test, the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model, and the Vector
Autoregression (VAR) model are used. The main objective is to examine the effect of
deforestation in Myanmar. The descriptive analysis shows that deforestation in
Myanmar has fluctuated sharply, with significant increases between 2000 and 2015,
followed by a sudden reduction to zero between 2016 and 2018, largely due to
conservation policies after COP21 and the 2014 raw timber export ban. The
Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test showed that only population density is
stationary at level, while all other variables become stationary after first differencing,
confirming their integration of order one. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag
(ARDL) bound test reveals that the calculated F-statistic fell into the inconclusive
region, indicating that no long-run co-integration exists among the variables. The
VAR model estimates indicate that economic growth and agricultural land expansion
show positive associations with deforestation, whereas energy consumption, trade
openness, and population density exhibit negative effects. Impulse response and
variance decomposition analyses confirmed short-run interdependence, where shocks
in one factor influenced others. Therefore, the findings suggest that deforestation in
Myanmar is largely explained by short-run shocks and policy interventions
