Prevelence and Associated Factors of E-Cigarette (VAPE) Use Among the Youths (Zay Yar Linn, 2025)
This study investigates the prevalence and associated factors of e-cigarette
(vape) use among students at the National Management Degree College in Myanmar.
With the rising popularity of vaping among youth, understanding its implications is
crucial for public health. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed, involving
structured questionnaires distributed to a sample of 471 students over six months, from
January to June 2025. The sample size was calculated using a confidence interval of
95% and an assumed prevalence rate of 10%. A total of 279 students were included to
account for a 20% non-response rate. Data collection focused on demographic
characteristics, knowledge and attitudes towards vaping, and vaping practices. The
questionnaire was translated into the Myanmar language to ensure clarity and was pre-
tested for reliability. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS software,
employing descriptive statistics and chi-square tests to identify significant associations.
Preliminary findings suggest a notable prevalence of vaping among students, with
demographic factors such as age, gender, and socio-economic status influencing usage
patterns. Awareness of health risks and regulations was variable, indicating a need for
targeted educational campaigns and stricter regulatory enforcement. This study
highlights the urgent need for interventions to address the growing trend of vaping
among youths in Myanmar, aiming to inform policy and practice in public health
efforts. Through localized research, the findings contribute valuable insights to the
global discourse on e-cigarette use and its implications for young adults
