Resilience of Coastal Areas in Facing Tidal Disasters: A Study in Bedono Village, Demak
Indonesia as an archipelago with the second longest coastline in the world is very vulnerable to coastal disasters, one of which is tidal flooding caused by sea level rise. This research examines the community’s adaptation strategy in facing tidal floods and its impact on regional resilience, with a focus on Bedono Village, Sayung Subdistrict, Demak Regency. This research used descriptive qualitative methods through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The results showed that tidal floods have changed the physical, economic, social, and environmental conditions of the community, triggering vulnerability and reducing regional resilience. Adaptation strategies carried out by the community include physical adaptation (modification of houses and infrastructure), economic (change of profession), and social (adjustment of social activities and education). However, these adaptations are still limited due to low community capacity and lack of government support. The main constraints faced are the increasing intensity of tidal flooding, low strategic value of the village, limited local government budget, and lack of infrastructure. Tidal flooding has negatively impacted five of the eight dimensions of regional resilience, namely geography, natural resources, demography, economy, and socio-culture. However, the ideological, political, and security dimensions remain stable. This research emphasizes the importance of cross-sectoral support and long-term policies to strengthen the resilience of disaster-affected coastal areas
Child Criminal Justice System in Islamic Law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child: A Comparative Study Between Indonesia, Iran, and Pakistan
This study examines the dynamic interaction between Islamic law principles and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in the juvenile criminal justice system, with a comparative study focusing on Indonesia, Iran, and Pakistan. Islamic law, through the concepts of bulugh and Ta’zir, aims at the correction and improvement (ishlah) of minors. The CRC, on the other hand, sets a standard age of 18 years, prohibits the death penalty/life imprisonment, and encourages rehabilitation, diversion, and non-custodial treatment. Using descriptive-comparative and analytical-normative legal methods, the study analyzes the laws and practices of the three countries. The results show significant variations: Indonesia has been relatively successful in integrating the values of the CRC and Islamic Law in the 2012 Juvenile Justice Act, prioritizing diversion and training. In contrast, Iran faces serious conflict because the Shia interpretation allows hudud and qisas punishments for children under 18, leading to executions in contravention of the CRC. Pakistan, despite having progressive legislation ( JJSA 2018) in line with the CRC, has shown poor implementation, characterized by inconsistent definitions of children, inhumane treatment by authorities, minimal diversion, and poor conditions of excluded facilities. The discussion underlines that harmonization of these two legal frameworks is highly dependent on flexible interpretation and effective implementation. As a suggestion, Indonesia needs to continue to improve the SPPA Law. Iran should reform its laws to abolish the death penalty for children and align the age of responsibility. Pakistan urgently needs drastic improvements in standardizing the definition of children, improving remote conditions, and training law enforcement officers to realize comprehensive child rights protection

Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration: Practice and Ethics for Talent Management in Public Sector
The background of this study focuses on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in talent management within the public sector, particularly in supporting competency development and work efficiency. Digital innovations like AI can significantly improve the performance of civil servants in Indonesia; however, they also pose ethical challenges and policy implications that need to be carefully addressed. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews and literature reviews. The data were analyzed using triangulation techniques to ensure the validity and reliability of the findings, while the research locus was centered on the West Java Provincial Government. The results show that implementing AI in talent management offers benefits in automating administrative processes and improving work efficiency. However, there are challenges regarding resistance to change from human resources and the limitations of existing technological infrastructure. Additionally, there are ethical dilemmas concerning data privacy and transparency in AI-based decision making. The study concludes that AI has great potential to enhance talent management performance in the public sector, but its implementation requires clear policies and appropriate risk mitigation strategies. The implications of this research provide policy recommendations to improve technological infrastructure readiness and train civil servants to face the digital era, while also ensuring that ethical and regulatory aspects are addressed
Analysis of Halal Standards and Performance of the Halal Food Industry in Indonesia and Malaysia
The halal food industry has experienced significant growth in line with the increasing awareness among Muslim consumers about the importance of using products that comply with Sharia principles. This trend is not only happening in Muslim-majority countries but also across the globe. Several countries have developed their own halal standards and recognized the potential of the global halal industry. The halal standard recognized in Indonesia is the Halal Standard by the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), while in Malaysia, it is by JAKIM. The objective of this study is to examine and compare the halal food industry standards practiced in Indonesia and Malaysia. This research analyzes the standards and performance of the halal industry in Indonesia. The study uses a descriptive statistical research methodology by analyzing data from literature reviews of journal publications, official BPJPH reports, and websites. The halal food industry in Indonesia has experienced significant growth, driven by increasing consumer awareness of the importance of halal certification and regulatory support, especially after the enactment of the Halal Product Assurance Law (UU JPH). In Indonesia, the halal assurance system (HAS) is implemented in accordance with MUI and BPJPH regulations through HAS 23103:2012. In Malaysia, JAKIM oversees halal awareness programs and regulates food production facilities based on standards documented in the Malaysian Halal Management System (MHMS) 2020, the Malaysian Halal Certification Procedure Manual 2014 and 2020, and MS 1500: 2019 (Halal Food)

Seeking Common Ground in Samawi Teachings to Resolve Religious and Humanitarian Tensions
The tensions among the major world religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (Samawi religions) persist in various parts of the world. These tensions have often led to the loss of lives and a deep erosion of humanity. Therefore, it is essential to reassess and map the doctrines of the Samawi religions to end these religious and global humanitarian conflicts in an effort to achieve world peace. This study is categorized as library research, with its data derived from literature sources such as the Quran, hadith, books, and scholarly articles. The study concludes that the Samawi religions originally shared the same fundamental teachings, sacred scriptures sourced from the same divine revelation, a commitment to human goodness, and specific rituals of worship. However, these divine teachings were later distorted by their followers after the prophetic missions of each era were completed. The common ground among Semitic religions opens opportunities for interfaith dialogue aimed at achieving mutual peace. This dialogue is based on the principles of universal truth and religious tolerance, which include freedom of belief, mutual respect for differences, the avoidance of anarchic means in resolving conflicts, and the protection of minority groups to foster harmony
Understanding the Childlessness Phenomenon: An Analysis From the Perspective of Islamic Law
Although having children is viewed as one of the most important tasks of adult relationships, particularly of marriage, birth rates in Indonesia have been progressively decreasing in recent years. Some studies relate this trend to the success of the government’s Keluarga Berencana (KB) family planning program, the economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in childbearing delays, and a broader trend of sexual recession. A particularly noteworthy and contentious feature of this reduction is the growing acceptance of a childless lifestyle, which contradicts traditional norms of society. This paper aims to explore the childlessness phenomenon through the lens of Islamic law with a specific focus on Indonesia. By employing a literature research methodology, we examine religious texts, scholarly interpretations, and existing studies on demographic trends and cultural shifts. The research delves into how Islamic jurisprudence views the decision to remain childfree and how these views are reconciled with the changing societal attitudes in Indonesia. Our findings suggest that while the concept of being childfree is gaining visibility, it remains contentious within the context of Islamic teachings which traditionally emphasize procreation. This paper contributes to the ongoing discourse by providing a nuanced analysis of how Islamic law interprets childfree decisions and its potential implications for the Indonesian society
