    Effect of Occupational Exposure to Low-frequency Electromagnetic Fields on Cataract Development

    Purpose: Cataracts are the second leading cause of visual impairment worldwide. This study aimed to examine the impact of occupational exposure to low-frequency electromagnetic fields on cataract development. Methods: One hundred employees of Zahedan Electricity Company participated in this study. They were assigned to four groups based on their level of exposure: regular, operational, operator personnel, and non-exposure. Based on LOCS III grading, the risk of developing different types of cataracts (i.e., nuclear, posterior subcapsular, and cortical) was evaluated for all participants. Results: The frequency of cataracts was 62.2% in the exposure group (which includes three subgroups: the regular, operational, and operator personnel) and 53.8% in the non-exposure group. There was a significant difference between the study groups in terms of nuclear opacity grading (P = 0.003). The correlation between nuclear and posterior subcapsular cataract grading and work experience duration in the exposure group was statistically significant (P < 0.018). Conclusion: This study’s findings indicate that exposure to low-frequency electromagnetic fields such as power lines, power plants, and power distribution posts may be a risk factor for cataract development, particularly nuclear cataracts

    A Strategy to Improve the Halal Industry in Facing Global Competition

    The influence of global economic growth and scientific and technological advances are the basis for the increase in the halal industry. This growth is an essential reason why every industry player, especially Muslims, must fully understand the concept of halal. The halal industry in Indonesia has experienced development in the global market just as the world’s Muslim population is increasing. However, in facing global competition in the halal industry, Indonesia is challenged by the competitiveness of other countries at the center of the global halal sector, such as Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and several other countries. Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world should have great potential to become the center of the halal industry, but this has not been fully optimized due to limitations in the development of halal supply chains. Therefore, a good strategy is needed to increase the competitiveness of the halal industry in Indonesia. This study analyzes the plan for improving products in Indonesia’s halal industry. The research method used is library research. The results of the study explain that the strategy needed to improve the halal industry in the global market is to optimize the capacity of businesspeople and MSME actors through halal certification training, halal industry product development, and e-commerce services. This strategy can grow a digital economy not fully understood by business actors, and sophisticated technology can be used to compete in the global halal industry. In addition, to support the movement towards Indonesia’s economic progress and compete in the worldwide economy, the value of exports needs to be increased compared to the value of imports

    Strategies for Teaching Digital Collaborative Problem-Solving Skills with Attention to Adversity Quotient Aspects of Junior High School Students

    Collaborative problem solving is an important skill that to develop in education, especially in the increasingly complex digital era. By utilizing collaborative technology, students can interact and collaborate without space and time constraints. This study aims to design a Collaborative Problem Solving-Adversity Quotient (CPS-AQ) model to teach digital collaborative problem solving skills by considering the adversity quotient aspects of junior high school students. This research method uses literature review research, with the following steps: i. Identification of topics and problems, ii. Literature search and collection, iii. Evaluation and selection of literature, iv. Analysis of literature, v. Synthesis of study results, and vi. Preparation of conclusions and implications. The result of this research is a CPS-AQ learning design with the steps: i. Share the perspective, ii. Define the issues, iii. Identify the interests, iv. Generate options, v. Develop a fair standard or objective criteria for deciding, and vi. Evaluate options and reach agreement. Conceptually, the CPS-AQ model can be used to train collaborative problem-solving skills digitally

    Outdoor Learning Mathematics in a Differentiated Learning Approach Using Design Thinking

    Outdoor learning mathematics (OLM) is a way of presenting mathematics learning outside the classroom to create a fun learning atmosphere for students. Students who feel bored, uninterested, and less enthusiastic about learning mathematics are not able to grasp the material and solve mathematical problems. Thus, OLM create more meaningful experiences for students. In the independent curriculum, differentiated learning accommodates the scope of learning that favors students. So, designing a combination of OLM with a differentiated learning approach will provide a solution. The method used is design thinking with data collection through questionnaires distributed to students. Researchers conducted questionnaires and interviews to identify the needs and problems of students in learning mathematics. As a result, researchers applied OLM with a differentiation approach to make learning mathematics a more fun experience for students

    A Bibliometric Analysis: Research Trends of Computational Thinking on Problem-Based Learning from 2014 to 2024

    This study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to explore the evolving research trends on the intersection of computational thinking (CT) and problembased learning (PBL) from 2014 to 2024. CT, a crucial twenty-first century skill that emphasizes problem-solving through algorithmic and analytical approaches, and PBL, an instructional method that emphasizes the application of knowledge to solve realworld problems, have both garnered increasing research attention and pedagogical interest in recent years. By analyzing a wide range of publications from Scopus databases, this research examines in-depth publication trends, citation networks, author collaborations, and thematic developments within this interdisciplinary field. The results indicate a significant increase in research activity and scholarly output, especially in the past ten years, suggesting growing momentum and recognition of the potential synergies between CT and PBL. The study highlights the leading contributors to this field, including the United States, China, India, and Indonesia, and identifies influential publications, emerging research clusters, and key themes such as the integration of education technology to enhance teaching and learning approaches. This comprehensive bibliometric analysis provides valuable insights and a holistic understanding for educators, researchers, and policymakers to further advance pedagogical innovations and best practices at the intersection of CT and PBL

    Ketan, Kolak, and Apem: An Imprint of Three Traditional Food Symbols in Islamic Religious Ceremonies and Rituals During Ramadan

    Ramadan, or bulan suci (the month of fasting), is one of the five pillars of Islam and a central ritual in Muslim practice. In Indonesia, this sacred month is marked not only by religious observance but also by vibrant communal celebrations, particularly centered around food. This study explores traditional Ramadan food customs among Muslims in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, using a qualitative ethnographic approach. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. Findings reveal that food plays an integral role in Javanese traditions, often embedded in ritual and social practices. In Yogyakarta, a region influenced by the King’s decisions and authority, the regulation of food traditions during Ramadan is shaped by hierarchical customs. Three key phases define the food practices during this period: Ruwahan (pre-Ramadan), the Ramadan fasting month, and Eid al-Fitr (post-Ramadan). During Ruwahan, traditional offerings such as ketan, kolak, and apem are prominent. In Ramadan, food is categorized by its timing: meals for breaking the fast and sahur (pre-dawn meal). Finally, during Eid al-Fitr, is the presence of ketupat or kupat is essential. This study highlight how local culinary traditions in Yogyakarta are deeply intertwined with religious observance, royal influence, and cultural identity during the holy month of Ramadan

    The Role of Problem-based Learning Model in Enhancing Students' Motivation and Physics Academic Achievement

    The teacher’s role in guiding and directing students to achieve desired academic achievement is crucial. By designing engaging learning activities, teachers optimize student involvement and presence, leading to increased motivation and improved academic achievement. At a senior high school in Banjarmasin, a research study using the problem-based learning (PBL) model was conducted to enhance motivation and academic achievement for 10th-grade students. The study focused on three areas: (1) lesson plan implementation, (2) students learning motivation, and (3) students’ academic achievement. Collaborative classroom action research was conducted in two cycles involving planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected from 34 students through tests, observation, and documentation. The study findings indicated that: (1) Lesson plan implementation was improved from an average score of 3.34 (good) in cycle I to 3.84 (very good) in cycle II. (2) Students’ learning motivation increased from an average score of 2.29 (moderate) in the pre-cycle to 3.48 (very high) after the learning cycle. The N-gain score was 0.69 (moderate). (3) Students’ academic achievements had significantly improved, with the average pre-cycle score of 42.60 increasing to 83.44 after the learning cycle with the N-gain score of 0.70 (high). (4) Students’ responses to PBL were positive, with an average rating of 3.24, indicating a good category. In conclusion, implementation of the PBL model effectively enhanced students’ motivation and improved academic achievement of the 10th-grade students at the senior high school in Banjarmasin

    A Systematic Literature Review: Implementation of Geogebra Mathematical Software on Students Mathematical Abilities in Learning Mathematics

    Difficulties in learning and mastering mathematics are well-founded, partly because mathematics is a lesson that requires students to think logically, systematically, and reflectively, and requires diligent, thorough, and earnest effort. One way that students can use to hone and improve their mathematical abilities is by applying mathematical software in learning mathematics. One of the widely used mathematical software is Geogebra. This systematic literature review aims to provide a description by analyzing the implementation of Geogebra on students’ mathematical abilities in learning mathematics through literature review. Data collection were carried out by documenting and reviewing 25 articles related to the use of Geogebra on mathematical abilities published in the 2019-2022 period published in national and international journals that can be accessed and downloaded from Google Scholar, ProQuest and Eric databases. Mathematical abilities that can be improved through the application of geogebra include: mathematical communication, understanding of mathematical concepts, mathematical reasoning, solving mathematical problems, and mathematical connections. The results of the study provide information that Geogebra has a positive, effective, and better influence in improving students’ mathematical abilities in the process of learning mathematics.     In teacher education, especially in the artistic fields like dance, developing creativity is essential. This study explore the impact of the read, answer, discuss, explain, and create (RADEC) learning model on the creativity of prospective elementary school teachers in creating dance. Using an explanatory mixed-methods approach, the study examined how the RADEC model influenced students’ creativity and the creative dance produced. Seventy-three students from the Primary School Teacher Education program at IKIP Siliwangi participated. Data were collected through a creative thinking test, observation sheets, and a creativity assessment rubric, and were then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the RADEC model significantly enhanced students’ creativity, with the “create” phase being particularly effective. The students’ dance products met the expected creativity criteria. This study highlights the importance of applying the RADEC model in teacher education to better prepare students for teaching and creating innovative art

    Application of a Digital-based Multiliteracy Model in Early Reading in Elementary Schools

    This is a qualitative study, which describes learning through digital-based multiliteracy reinforcement in improving early reading skills in elementary schools. The data collection methods used include early reading ability tests, observation, interviews, and documentation. Data is processed descriptively with the triangulation method. Data collection through observation was conducted on 10 grade 1 students and interviews with one of the grade 1 teachers at SD Negeri Sudimampir 2 Padalarang West Bandung using observation and interview guidelines. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that early reading learning through digital-based multiliteracy reinforcement can improve early reading skills in elementary school. The results of this analysis will be used as a basis for determining students’ early reading skills so that they can compile learning tools, teaching materials, and learning media that can strengthen students’ multiliteracies
