Violations of the Code of Ethics and Their Implications for the Credibility of Election Organizers
Elections are one of the benchmarks for a functioning democracy, while ethics are the cornerstones in building a dignified democracy. To realize democratic elections, the Election Organizer Ethics Council (DKPP) is responsible for handling violations of the code of ethics committed by election organizers. This article focuses on violations of the code of ethics committed during the election process and its implications for the credibility of election organizers. The findings show that violations of the code of ethics committed by the General Election Commission (KPU) during the election stage by accepting the registration and then designating Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice-presidential candidate are considered inconsistent with KPU Regulation Number 19 of 2023. Due to this violation, the Chairperson of the KPU was issued a final severe warning sanction, while other commissioners received severe warning sanctions. The Chairperson of the KPU also received a severe reprimand for violating ethics in the preparation of female legislative candidates. The KPU was further reprimanded for breaching the principles of professionalism and tarnishing the honor of the election organizing body in relation to its connection with the Chairperson of the Republic Satu Party, Hasnaeni. These ethical violations have eroded public trust, leading it to question the credibility of the KPU due to the accumulation of violations. Public criticism reflects concerns about the threat to a democratic 2024 election

Rasch Analysis of Students' Emotional Intelligence; Implications for Vocational Education
Examining the emotional condition of vocational students is essential due to this population having a greater capacity to deal with academic difficulties and challenges. Students with good emotional intelligence have positive academic outcomes and future careers. Hence, this preliminary study was set out to explore and investigate emotional intelligence among vocational students in public schools. A total of 173 vocational students from Kupang City- Indonesia participated. The data were collected online using measurement instrument 13 items with validity ranging from 0.811 to 0.894 and reliability of .891. Using Rasch model analysis with Winsteps Version 37.3 software, this study finds that the level of students’ emotional intelligence in vocational public schools is in the medium category (57.80%) with an average respondents’ logit value of 0.87 (SD=0.56). Evaluated based on aspect, positive affective, emotion-other, happy emotions, and emotions-own are the dominant aspects that agree with students. This indicates that they have good abilities in this aspect. However, emotional and nonverbal emotions require further attention. This aspect has limited agreement from students, which shows that their abilities are still poor in this aspect. This study provides evidence-based recommendations for the development of more effective vocational education programs concerning promoting emotional intelligence among students
Toward Sustainable Coastal Management Based on the Implementation of Blue Economy
Coastal areas play a crucial role in maintaining economic and ecological stability, especially for countries with extensive coastlines and rich marine resources like Indonesia. These areas support various industries, including fisheries, tourism, and aquaculture, contributing significantly to local and national economies. However, the rapid exploitation of coastal resources has led to environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and the marginalization of local communities, making sustainable management imperative. This paper discusses blue economy as a viable approach to addressing these challenges. Blue economy promotes the efficient and equitable use of marine resources, aiming to balance economic growth with environmental conservation and social welfare. It diverges from traditional economic models by emphasizing sustainability and long-term environmental health. Key strategies of blue economy include integrating innovative technologies, implementing eco-friendly practices, and encouraging community-based management to achieve a harmonious relationship between development and ecosystem conservation. This study explores the application of blue economy principles in coastal management through case studies from various Indonesian regions. It examines policy frameworks, technology adoption, and community empowerment as essential components for sustainable development. The findings indicate that integrating blue economy principles through community engagement, sustainable technology, and cross-sector collaboration can enhance the economic value of coastal areas while preserving biodiversity. Moreover, this approach improves the stability and socioeconomic conditions of local communities. The paper’s implications highlight that adopting a blue economy framework for coastal management can serve as a sustainable model for other regions facing similar challenges. This model not only addresses immediate environmental and socioeconomic issues but also ensures long-term sustainability. It offers policymakers and stakeholders a strategic framework for promoting sustainable economic growth while maintaining the ecological balance of coastal areas. By implementing blue economy-based management, coastal regions can enhance their competitiveness and resilience against global environmental and economic pressures, contributing to a balanced and prosperous future for coastal communities
Equating Five Sets of Junior High School National Exam Questions for the Mathematics Subject
This research aims to determine the characteristics of test items and equate the National Examination test items for junior high school students in Mathematics for the 2015 academic year. The study used Item Response Theory (IRT), which ensures that students’ ability level is not dependent on the items’ difficulty level, and the items’ difficulty level is independent of the students taking the test. This study follows an exploratory descriptive approach, describing the characteristics and equivalence of the test packages created in five different versions. Data were sourced from the results of the 2015 National Examination in Mathematics for junior high school students, consisting of 40 items from 5000 students. The quantitative analysis employed the 2PL model to examine item difficulty, discrimination power, and model fit using the IRT approach through Bilog MG version 3.0. The results identified 10 questions with the same indicators that met the criteria for good items, which were used as anchors. For equating, the mean-ratio, mean-sigma, Haebara, and Stocking Lord methods were used with the R program. The equated packages were package 3 and 5, using the Haebara method with the equation b∗3 = 1, 036783b3 + 0, 027869 yielding an RMSD (b) = 0.00995 and RMSD (a) = 0.08968, while package 4 and package 5 were equated using the mean-ratio method with the equation b∗3 = 0, 964830b3 − 0, 018938 with an RMSD (b) = 0.01769 and an RMSD (a) = 0.08211
