The Association of BMI and TSH Levels with IVF/ICSI Outcomes

    No full text
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels, body mass index (BMI), and the success or failure of in vitro fertilization (IVF), as well as pregnancy outcomes in women undergoing IVF/ICSI treatment. Methods: In this case-control study, data were collected from 278 infertile couples referred to infertility centers affiliated with Shiraz University of Medical Sciences between 2016 and 2023. Demographic variables, hormone levels, TSH, BMI, and additional factors such as infertility duration and varicocele status were analyzed. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS software. Results: Of the participants, 137 achieved successful IVF outcomes. BMI, TSH levels, and hypothyroidism were not significantly correlated with IVF/ICSI success or live birth rates. Secondary infertility cases demonstrated higher success rates, and men with untreated varicocele were linked to better IVF outcomes. Conclusion: BMI and TSH levels showed no significant association with IVF success or live birth outcomes. However, secondary infertility and untreated male varicocele were associated with improved pregnancy results. Further research with larger samples and detailed sub-categorization of infertility causes is recommended

Sleep and Circadian Rhythm Association with Sperm Head Defects in Infertile Males

    No full text
Male factor infertility can be due to defects in the semen quality and sperm parameters. The sperm head contains the acrosomal enzymes and the DNA required for fertilization. Defects in the sperm head morphology can be a major factor associated with male infertility. Lifestyle changes alter sleep and circadian rhythm which has shown to affect the quality of semen. Circadian rhythm is the normal cycle of physical, emotional, and behavioural changes the body undergoes every 24 hours. Circadian rhythm has an impact on sleep quality and spermatogenesis, thus disrupted circadian rhythm can alter sperm production. Sperm acrosome contain many proteins responsible for fertilization, acrosin being commonest of the proteases. Acrosin activity is essential for fertilization thus changes in the acrosin activity can affect fertilization outcome. This review will highlight the association of sleep and circadian rhythm with sperm acrosin activity and head defects

Spirit of the Ijmak Doctrine and Its Relevance in the Democratic System in Indonesia

    No full text
While the majority of Indonesia’s population is Muslim, Indonesia is neither a theocracy nor is it secular. Therefore, the authors will examine whether the spirit of the ijmak doctrine, which is the crystallization of the teachings of deliberation and consensus in Islam and a source for determining sharia law, has relevance to the democratic system in Indonesia. The results of the study show that there is a strong relevance between the ijmak doctrine and the democratic system in Indonesia. This is because Indonesia is a democratic country based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, where the first principle is the “Belief in One Almighty God.” Experts explain that the precepts of the Almighty God strengthens the implementation of other precepts in every development policy. This demonstrates that the democratic system adopted by Indonesia is a religious democracy, or a theodemocracy, and that Indonesia is not simply replicating the secular Western democratic system which disregards spiritual values

Reinterpretation of Verses About Orphanhood in the Qur'an for Optimizing Child Protection (Double Movement Theory Application)

    No full text
The concept of orphanhood is key to understanding how to protect children in Islam. The concept of orphanhood is proof of the seriousness and high attention of Islam to the issue of child protection. Islam sees one’s attitude toward orphans as an extension of their religiosity. Thus, optimizing the care of orphans is inevitably important. However, this optimization has often not been realized because it is constrained not only at the implementation stage but even at the conception stage. The rigidity of the mainstream concept of orphanhood has cost it the ability to solve the problems and challenges that it encounters, especially in the era of current disruption. This situation then calls for the conception of a modern notion of orphanhood. This study tries to reinterpret the verses about orphanhood in the Qur’an with the approach of Fazlur Rahman’s double movement theory. The result of this study is that the doctrine of orphanhood has a social mission to protect children, especially those who are abandoned before adulthood because they have lost their father, mother, or both. Concept of orphanhood is the key to seeing the concept of Islamic child protection as a whole. If Islam strongly criticizes Muslims who do not care about orphans, what are its views about parents who do not protect their own children

Marriage Contract in Realizing Happiness from an Interdisciplinary Perspective

    No full text
This study aims to explore the role of marriage contracts in achieving happiness from an interdisciplinary perspective. It is categorized as library research and is conducted by collecting, evaluating, and synthesizing information from various literature sources. The findings reveal that, from an interdisciplinary perspective, marriage contracts are proven to foster household happiness. Theologically, marriage contracts are based on mutual consent or agreement. Legally, marriage contracts are explained in Law No. 1 of 1974 and the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). Moreover, marriage registration is a requirement for those intending to marry. Psychologically, marriage contracts play an important role in maintaining agreement and order. Sociologically, marriage contracts establish formal ties between two individuals and their families. In societies with a strong emphasis on social structure, marriage can influence an individual’s position within the social hierarchy

Mlese village is located on the border between Central Java Province and Yogyakarta Special Region Province, which makes it a strategic route. The area also has extensive agricultural land with a lot of potential. The residents’ livelihoods are dominated by agricultural workers, followed by textile factory workers. Universitas PGRI Semarang has initiated a community service program to assist the residents of Mlese in transforming it into an agroedutourism destination. The development focuses on three main areas: education, integrated farming, and tourism. The program uses methods such as demonstrations, training, and mentoring to achieve its objectives. Mentoring and training programs related to capacity building have been implemented, including food plating activities and tourism English training for local tour guides. Each activity attracted an average of 35 participants, primarily members of the women’s farmers group, as well as the Pokdarwis group and Farmer Group. Participants are encouraged to share the knowledge gained with other residents to help expedite the development of the Agroedutourism village. For integrated agriculture, Universitas PGRI Semarang’s community service group, in collaboration with the local community, has established a greenhouse on land provided by the village. The greenhouse serves as a venue for elementary school students to participate in outdoor classes, particularly for schools in the Mlese village area. Plans for future initiatives include training in processed food innovation

Increased DC Bus Voltage Stability with Multiple Microgrid Cluster Strategies

    No full text
Reliability and flexibility can be increased by connecting multiple nearby microgrids (MG) to form a cluster. This report provides a thorough and comparative analysis of previous research on the control mechanisms used by DC MG clusters. Various techniques are examined for the two important control features of networked DC MGs: power flow control between MGs, and DC-link voltage control. There is also dispute on the DC MG clusters’ architectural configuration. This study discusses all the benefits and drawbacks of the various control mechanisms used in previous studies. Additionally, three different consensus protocol types—linear, finite, and fixed—with varying time limitations are covered in this study. To support this research, continuous development of microgrids is being carried out
