    No full text
This paper explores the topic of contemporary art that blends art, science, and design in unexpected and sometimes unsettling ways. One such example is one of the author’s projects; the Annuitterra skeleton set, which is both a unique work of art and a limited niche product. In the past, death was often a feared topic due to the uncertainty surrounding it. However, with advances in science and technology, our perception of death has shifted. The skeleton sets produced by Annuitterra are packaged as model kits that can be assembled by the audience. Through this process, people not only engage with animal skeletons but also learn about their anatomy. this skeleton sets series is used and analyzed to examine how this project commodifies the theme of death and makes it more accessible to the contemporary market through branding strategies, media partnerships, and collaborations. Ultimately, the investigation of the Annuitterra skeleton set reveals a changing perception of death in modern society. The enigma of death remains in this project, but our approach to it can be playful and bold to adapt to the continuously evolving complexities of contemporary art. Keywords: contemporary art, Annuitterra, articulating skeleton, death them

    No full text
This study examines the impact of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) on bureaucratic culture in the public service sector, especially related to employee efficiency and discretion in decision making. This study aims to understand how the application of AI determines the flexibility, accountability, and effectiveness of bureaucracy in Gorontalo Province, as well as explore strategies that can be implemented to maintain a balance between technological innovation and administrative policy. Academically, this research contributes to filling the literature gap related to technology-based bureaucratic transformation, especially in the context of developing countries. The practical importance of this study lies in the policy recommendations provided to improve bureaucratic adaptability to technological changes while maintaining flexibility in decision-making. The research method used is a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with employees at various levels of hierarchy in regional apparatus organizations in Gorontalo that have adopted AI. The results show that the application of AI has improved administrative efficiency and accountability in decision-making, but on the other hand, limits the discretionary space of employees in situations that require contextual considerations. The resulting theoretical novelty is the concept of algorithmic bureaucracy, where AI plays a key element in the bureaucratic decision-making process that has the potential to shift the discretionary function of employees to be more automated. This study recommends that in bureaucratic transformation there are 2 important things that need to be implemented, namely: 1) Strengthening digital capabilities and bureaucratic adaptability. 2) Algorithmic supervision technology governance and policy. As for the strengths of the research where the relevant study introduces new concepts regarding bureaucratic transformation, the weaknesses of the research are limited to geography, the risk of subjective bias, and the lack of quantitative validation of the concepts introduced

    No full text
This research developed a policy model for waste reduction in Lubuklinggau City through composting and waste-to-energy (WTE) technology. Using the system dynamics method, the research simulated various policy scenarios over 10 years. Results show that combining composting (40% participation) and WTE can reduce waste generation by 60% and generate 5,960 MWh/day of electrical energy. This scenario also reduces waste management costs by 8.3% compared to existing conditions. This model offers an integrative decision-making framework for local governments to optimize sustainable waste management by considering environmental, economic, and social aspects

To understand the extent to which the intangible cultural heritage of stateless communities in Gulf countries is safeguarded under the law, it is necessary to interpret international, regional, and state frameworks around cultural heritage and cultural rights – or human rights to culture. The current study reviews international law and regional frameworks that govern intangible cultural heritage in Gulf countries and examines a case study of the Bidun community in Kuwait.  The article focuses on intangible cultural heritage in the context of stateless communities and examines the relationship to tangible cultural heritage as part of the intangible cultural heritage.  The study finds that while the legal framework in Gulf countries lays out the groundwork for safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage of stateless communities, some states’ laws and policies are not aligned with obligations under international and regional frameworks

AI and Digital Media: Enhancing Islamic Studies and Advancing Communication in Higher Education

    No full text
This study looks at how artificial intelligence (AI) and digital media affect Islamic studies and communication in higher education. The research was done through a narrative review of existing studies. Using AI and digital media in higher education opens up new opportunities, making learning more varied and improving communication. This review sums up the literature to show how these technologies are being used in education and communication. It also analyzes AI tools that help advance Islamic studies, specifically the Islamic Education Management study. Additionally, it talks about how digital media makes it easier to access learning materials, encourages group learning, and keeps students more engaged. By employing library study or literature review by sorting out approximately 25 journals from 2021 to 2024, this study also considers the ethical issues that come with using these technologies, especially in Islamic education and higher education in general. By gathering information from different sources, this review highlights both the benefits and challenges of using AI and digital media in education. It also discusses what the findings mean for lecturers, students, and researchers, pointing out the need to balance technology with the values of Islamic education management themselves. This study aims to be a helpful resource for those adapting to the changing world of education in the digital age

Analysis of Hamid Mawlana's Thoughts on Islamic Communication Theory

    No full text
This paper explores Islamic communication theory developed by Hamid Mowlana (1979, 1993, 2007). The analysis includes the context of the emergence of a discourse on Islamic communication in the academic realm and the elaboration and criticism of the substance of Hamid Mowlana’s Islamic communication theory. Using the literature study method, the author found that the emergence of Islamic communication theory was motivated by the meeting of two streams of criticism of Western science, namely the criticism of Islamic intellectuals against the paradigm of Western social science (and therefore, against western modernization); and the tendency towards international communication studies by emphasizing the DE westernization approach, motivated by the cultural turn in the development of the social sciences. Hamid Mowlana formulated Islamic communication theory by proposing the concept of tabligh initially developed from his studies of communication practices and systems in Iran, especially around the period before and after the revolution. Tabligh, besides being a theory, is also an ethic and is based on five fundamental principles: Tauhid, Amar ma’ruf nahi munkar, Ummah, Taqwa, and Amanah. Hamid Mowlana’s Islamic communication theory has its weaknesses, especially in its basic assumptions about Islamic exceptionalism and the singularity of Islamic and Western civilizations

Implementation of Consumer Protection Act in the Digital Era

    No full text
The development of information and communication technology has changed the global economic landscape, encouraging the emergence of a digital economy. Ecommerce has become the core of transactions, offering convenience and competitive prices. However, this convenience also opens up risks for consumers, especially in terms of consumer rights, product quality, privacy, data security, and dispute resolution. Consumer protection in online transactions in Indonesia is regulated by the Consumer Protection Act and Electronic Information and Transactions Act. These two laws provide sufficient legal protection, covering consumer rights and obligations as well as dispute resolution mechanisms. However, this legal protection is considered inadequate, especially for digital products. The gap between law and practice, lack of consumer knowledge, and weak supervision are challenges. Therefore, strengthening consumer protection mechanisms, especially in the context of international platforms, is crucial to ensure safety and fairness in e-commerce transactions
