    Pediatric resting EEG collection, preprocessing, and analysis: A systematic review

    Resting electroencephalography (EEG) has been posited as a biomarker for children’s cognitive and social development. However, substantial heterogeneity in current EEG data collection, preprocessing, and analytic approaches lowers interpretability and reproducibility across studies. This systematic review aims to identify existing methodological variability and consensus in the recent developmental EEG literature and explore whether any differences can be explained by the age of the sample, year of publication, or the resting paradigm. Reviewed articles were drawn from six journals notable for publishing pediatric EEG research between 2011-2023. We screened over 650 articles, resulting in 56 articles for further data extraction. Extracted information included: sample characteristics (e.g. age), data collection paradigm (e.g., resting paradigm), preprocessing and signal analysis steps (e.g., power spectra transformations, frequency band boundaries), and statistical analysis methods (e.g., multiple comparison corrections). Our results highlight substantial differences in data collection, preprocessing, and analytic steps that are largely not explained by sample age, publication year, or resting paradigm. Collectively, our findings emphasize the need for increased standardization in data collection, preprocessing, and analysis methods to ensure future developmental EEG research is reproducible and reliable. We further call for collaborative efforts to establish consensus

    Predictors of Individual Persistence and Dyadic Participation in a Multi-part Study of University Undergraduates Experiencing Relationship Conflict

    There are unique challenges to recruiting and retaining couples in relationship research. This study used a mixed-methods approach to understand characteristics that predict participation in a dyadic relationship study. We recruited a racially diverse sample of 59 undergraduate students to complete a set of quantitative measures. Of these participants, 26 completed a semi-structured qualitative interview, and 17 completed repeated-measures surveys. Of the 59 initial participants, 30 (51%) were willing for their partner to take part the study. We found evidence that both relationship perceptions and mental health symptoms influenced participation. Individuals who reported using domination during conflict with their partner were less likely to participate in the qualitative interview. Discrimination was negatively associated with likelihood of participation in the qualitative interview, but was not statistically significant (p=0.06). Relationship quality, separation during conflict, and anxiety symptoms were positively associated with one’s likelihood of willingness for their partner’s involvement in the study, and there was a negative association for depression symptoms. Interpersonal trauma exposure was negatively associated with willingness for partner involvement but was not statistically significant (p=0.07). Participants were asked to describe their thoughts about dyadic research participation. We found that an individual’s perceptions of their partner’s interest and availability to participate were additional factors that predicted willingness for their partner to be involved in the study. Despite the involved nature of repeated-measures research, participants identified few perceived barriers to survey completion. Our findings add nuance to the field’s understanding of who participates in relationship science research, but also why these individuals choose to take part. The results also highlight methodological implications for consideration when conducting relationship research

    This registration documents the protocol for a scoping review examining the use of joint manipulation, joint mobilization, manual therapy, and Pilates-based core strengthening interventions in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders among adult dancers. The review will follow the PRISMA-ScR guidelines and will map the existing evidence, identify gaps in the literature, and clarify the range and nature of available studies. The project aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current rehabilitation approaches for dance-related musculoskeletal conditions and to inform future research directions

    This integrative review protocol analyzes the traumatic impact of fetal death and parental grief, highlighting the need for humanized care given the dissonance of experiencing death within hospital environments dedicated to life. The central objective is to identify care practices and gaps in the training of obstetric teams to ensure well-being and adequate support for women and their support networks, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The protocol will be registered on the OSF platform to ensure transparency and rigor, utilizing the Hawker model and the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) tools to assess the methodological quality and levels of evidence of the studies. Structured by the PICO mnemonic, the research aims to identify light technologies and humanized care practices in Normal Birth Centers (CPN) for support during grief following fetal death, selecting primary articles from a five-year period (2021-2025) across databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and CINAHL. The selection and data extraction process will be conducted blindly by two independent reviewers via Rayyan software, culminating in a narrative analysis of the results and the systematization of care provided by obstetric teams, following the PRISMA flowchart guidelines.
