    This dataset pertains to a survey on smallholder commercialization conducted in Rwanda during October and November of 2022. The primary objective of this study is to enhance data and analysis regarding the returns associated with commercial smallholder production systems and policies aimed at supporting smallholder commercialization. The data were collected from a nationally and provincially representative households’ sample of 2,020 rural smallholder agricultural households selected from five provinces. The survey focused on various key data points, including household demographics, farm and nonfarm assets, farm characteristics (such as land use, crop production, inputs usage, participation in agricultural programs, livestock, etc.), household expenditures and incomes, labor utilization, and other relevant factors throughout the agricultural year of 2022

    Counter serious and organised crime (SOC) strategies often include an awareness-raising element. Such messaging aims to build support for counter-SOC efforts, and intolerance for organised criminal activity. However, a growing body of research suggests that raising awareness to ‘social bads’ like SOC may risk backfiring by encouraging pessimistic attitudes about whether they can be controlled and could even nudge people to agree with populist narratives which argue that political outsiders represent the only hope for tackling systemic problems. A nationally representative survey experiment in Albania was conducted to test, for the first time, the impact of messages about SOC. Typical of counter-SOC messaging in practice, the first message emphasised the harms SOC causes. The second was more positive, highlighting high levels of social disapproval of SOC, a theme that social norms research suggests may be effective. We find that the first message backfires by reducing confidence in law enforcement and encouraging support for populist ideas. The second message is unexpectedly found to also encourage support for a populist sentiment, while having no positive impact on attitudes about law enforcement. This suggests that even positive messaging about ‘social bads’ can risk triggering unwanted responses

    The NIFTY trial sought to determine whether reducing the dosage of the vaccine can provide the same protection to the standard dosage given in Kenyan and Ugandan adults and children. The trial is registered at ClinicalTrials.gov. ID: NCT04059471. This dataset relates to a trial to determine the safety and immune response elicited by the reduced doses of yellow fever vaccine in comparison to full dose of the vaccine in Kenyan and Ugandan adults. This was a parallel group, randomized, controlled, blinded, non-inferiority trial of four different doses of YF vaccine. The study was conducted at the KEMRI CGMRC in Kilifi, Kenya and at Epicentre in Mbarara, Uganda. Both these sites had already worked together in study (Clinicaltrials.gov number: NCT02991495).Adult participants (n=480) was randomized for vaccination with full standard dose or with 1000,500 or 250 IU (i.e. 4 arms) with a 1:1:1:1 allocation ratio. Adult vaccinees was followed up for 2 years. This data was captured in paper Case report forms(CRFs) stored in secure lockable cabinets by study clinicians and later transcribed into eCRFs using REDCap database by data entry clerks located at each site. Data export to create analysis was done using STATA statistical software.</p

    Explosion data from a Fuel Air Explosive (Thermobaric Bomb) and a high explosive collected on an infrasound microphone and a smartphone sensor network. The infrasound microphone data are in units of Pascals and the smartphone microphone data are in units of bits (Garcés, 2020; Garcés, 2023). Both data have not been corrected for local weather effects (Sachs, 1944). The data is available as a pandas DataFrame, a collection of SAC files, and a collection of miniSEED files for greater usability. However, the pandas DataFrame is recommended as all the information is consolidated.
