Report of Stakeholder Consultation Meeting at National Level on Draft Proclamation of the Establishment of Management Area of Mackerel Fisheries Refugia
No full textThis report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”Stakeholder Consultation Meeting at National Level on Draft Proclamation of the Establishment of Management Area of Mackerel Fisheries Refugia was conducted by Fisheries Administration, at Fisheries Administration on 11 June 2019. The meeting aimed to discuss on the draft proclamation of the ministry of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries on the establishment of mackerel fisheries refugia at Peam Krasob in Koh Kong in order to protect and conserve sustainable fisheries resources, especially mackerel. The meeting attended by 14 participants from Fisheries Administration.UNEP/GE

Taking into account, the draft 5 years Management Plan, the meeting come up with a revised 3 year management plan for MFMA in Kep before submission this document to Kep Governor and Director General of Fisheries Administration for approval and signature, monitor MCC works to be implemented in the past and MCC’s next plan and extension working done by Kep FiAC and neck plan. The meeting attended by 31 participants from Fisheries Administration, Fisheries Administration Cantonment in Kampot, Department of Environment, Department of Tourism, Department of Land, Construction and Cadastral, Department of Public Works and Transports, Maritime Police 241, and Communities Fisheries.UNEP/GE

Get PDFThis report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”Meeting with Private Sector for Identifying zoning and monitoring fisheries resource status at Nataya Resort in Kampot was conducted by Fisheries Administration on 2-6 March 2019. The meeting attended by 10 participants, including leaders and officer from Department of fisheries Conservation, FiAC in Kampot, and Wildlife Earth Allie. Taking into account the objectives of MFMA, There are 4 zones in MFMA including as follow: 1) Protected Area: it is an outside of CFi; 2) Community Area: it is small scale fishing for the community; 3) Fisheries Refugia Area: it is needed to protect during critical fish life cycle; and 4) Ecotourism Area: it is an area to increase tourism to visit coral reef. In conclusion, Nataya Resort will jointly work a management plan with FiA, FiAC and WEA organization in order to ensure sustainable marine fisheries resource management.UNEP/GE

The consultation was attended by 21 participants, including Fisheries Administration, Fisheries Administration Cantonment in Koh Kong, Department of Environment, Department of Tourism, Department of Land, Construction, and Cadastral, Provincial Military Police, Provincial Police, Water Boundary Police 269, District Authorities in Koh Kong and Mondol Sema, and Provincial Administration. The results from workshop are improved draft MAFF’s Proclamation of short mackerel fisheries refugia and draft decision of provincial management committee of the marine fisheries management area in Koh Kong province.UNEP/GE

Density and Distribution of Fish Larvae in Gulf of Thailand.
Get PDFFish larvae research is a important for understanding of the ecology and evolution of fish species and their populations. Research on density and distribution of fish larvae along with its relationships to physical parameters would let us estimate the size of a spawning stock from habitat and forecasting on future fish stocks. Gulf of Thailand is one of the most abundance in fisheries resources, however declining in fish stocks are now main problem. In order to know about future fish population, In this present work, the study of fish larvae is a part of the biological oceanographic survey aimed to know density and distribution of fish larvae. The understanding of abundance and distribution of fish larvae in conjunction with ecological conditions could fill up the gap in the study of fish life history
