Report of Consultation Meeting on the Establishment of Technical Working Group for the Management of Marine Fisheries Resource Protection and Conservation Area in Koh Kong
Get PDFThis report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”Consultation Meeting on the Establishment of Technical Working Group for the Management of Marine Fisheries Resource Protection and Conservation Area in Koh Kong was conducted by Fisheries Administration held on 2 October 2019. 7 participants from Fisheries Administration, Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, Fisheries Administration Cantonment in Kep, and Koh Kong Provincial Hall Administration joined the discussion. The results are the agreement in principle to: 1) create technical working group for marine fisheries management in Koh Kong only under management area issued by MAFF; 2) suggest Koh Kong Provincial Hall Administration prepare the invitation letter to involving institutions to join the technical working group as vice chief and member; 3) add representatives from national and international organizations involved to join the meeting; and 4) Approval on organizing a meeting of composition and roles before submission to Lok Chhum Teav Koh Kong Governor through provincial decision.UNEP/GE
Partnership Apprasal and Prioritization Report: Vietnam
Get PDFOver 2017 and 2018, USAID Oceans engaged with the government of Vietnam to conduct a Partnership Appraisal to identify high-value partnership opportunities, which is linked to a complementary CDT Gap Analysis Report. USAID Oceans’ Partnership Appraisals are conducted through a multi-step process, including desk research, field interviews, and participatory work sessions designed to uncover opportunities for public-private collaboration. During the process, USAID Oceans’ teams worked together closely to engage buyers, seafood companies, and organizations working on seafood traceability to identify their interests, challenges, opportunities for collaboration, and to design an eCDT roadmap that supports eCDT system design and implementation. This report summarizes the main findings of the Vietnam Partnership Appraisal, as well as recommendations for next steps to develop partnerships that will support eCDT implementation. USAID Oceans’ research in Vietnam uncovered many opportunities to leverage current system strengths, as well as identified numerous technical, financial, economic, and psychological barriers that highlight the need to demonstrate the business case and added value of eCDT systems, for both government and the private sector. This Partnership Appraisal Report identifies recommended approaches to identify and engage with a range of key organizations, customized for Vietnam’s specific country systems and contexts

The survey aimed to monitor the development of short mackerel gonad, to interview mackerel fishermen on socio-economic and fisheries status, and to collect sampling fish larvae. The meeting attended by 6 participants, including leaders and officers from Department of Fisheries Conservation, officers from Fisheries Administration Cantonment in Koh Kong.
