Get PDFSince its launch, USAID Oceans has been working in partnership with the Southeast Asia Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) and the Coral Triangle Initiative for Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) with the explicit goals of combating IUU fishing in Southeast Asia, improving the region’s capacity for building sustainable fisheries with enhanced management and regulatory frameworks, and addressing sectoral human welfare concerns. September 2019 marked the completion of the program’s fourth year—which will be its last full year of implementation, closing in May 2020. Partnership Appraisal and Prioritization Report: Thailand
Get PDFOver 2017 and 2018, USAID Oceans engaged with the government of Thailand to conduct a Partnership Appraisal to identify high-value partnership opportunities, which is linked to a complementary CDT Gap Analysis Report. USAID Oceans’ Partnership Appraisals are conducted through a multi-step process, including desk research, field interviews, and participatory work sessions designed to uncover opportunities for public-private collaboration. During the process, USAID Oceans’ teams worked together closely to engage buyers, seafood companies, and organizations working on seafood traceability to identify their interests, challenges, opportunities for collaboration, and to design an eCDT roadmap that supports eCDT system design and implementation. This report summarizes the main findings of the Thailand Partnership Appraisal, as well as recommendations for next steps to develop partnerships that will support eCDT implementation. USAID Oceans’ research in Thailand uncovered many opportunities to leverage current system strengths, as well as identified numerous technical, financial, economic, and psychological barriers that highlight the need to demonstrate the business case and added value of eCDT systems, for both government and the private sector. This Partnership Appraisal Report identifies recommended approaches to identify and engage with a range of key organizations, customized for Thailand’s specific country systems and contexts

Report of Reviewing the Map Boundary of the Plan for Marine Fisheries Management Area and Discuss with Community Fisheries on Management Measurement of Grouper’ Seed Collection in Kampot Province
Get PDFThis report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”Reviewing the Map Boundary of the Plan for Marine Fisheries Management Area and Discuss with Community Fisheries (CFi) on Management Measurement of Grouper’ Seed Collection in Kampot Province was conducted by Fisheries Administration on 29-30 January 2019. 10 participants, including leader and officers from Department of Fisheries Conservation and officer from Fisheries Administration Cantonment in Kampot joined the discussion. Based on the discussion with CFi, Fishermen, Traders, it is concluded as follow: 1) juvenile grouper are harvested staring from September to February and rich in October to November; 2) the seed are collected for cage culture at Trapaing Ropaov and Prek Thnaot CFis; and 3) There are 6 traders at Trapaing Ropaov and two traders at Prek Thnaot sites. In addition, the map boundary of marine fisheries management area for juvenile grouper was reviewed.UNEP/GE
