Overview of background of the project: Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand, 3.) Progress of project implementation, and 4.) Technical information of fisheries, fisheries resources, and ecosystem in Trat and Surat Thani Provinces. National Fisheries Refugia Committee of Thailand also approved the project site and priority fisheries species in Trat and Surat Thani Province.UNEP/GE

The meeting aimed to mainstream the proclamation of MFMA in Kep to local communities, fishermen, and other stakeholders, and to show the importance and advantage of MFMA and promote the dissemination of MFMA in Kep province. Report of the Baseline Survey of Short Mackerel in Koh Kong Province
Get PDFThis report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”This paper followed up the baseline survey in Koh Kong Province by monitoring the gonad growth of short mackerel in Koh Kong province. The survey found that fishermen start short mackerel fishing from October to April at Koh Yor, Koh Code, and Peam Krasob. However, during the said period is a spawning time of short mackerel. Therefore, it is needed to take properly management measures to ensure fish stock in the nature, especially during its spawning starting in December to March.UNEP/GE

No full textIn 2017, Nutrindo joined USAID Oceans’ network of partners to establish full-chain electronic catch documentation and traceability (eCDT) for tuna products harvested in Southeast Asia that are imported into international markets with seafood traceability requirements, like the United States and Japan. This is done by documenting the seafood’s journey from its point of catch to its final point of sale to consumers. To establish full chain traceability, partnerships are required throughout the seafood supply chain, from the fishers who are the first to touch the fish to those that process and export the fish. USAID Oceans, together with its partner and grantee, Yayasan Masyarakat dan Perikanan Indonesia (MDPI), have recruited small- and large-scale industry partners—like Nutrindo—in USAID Oceans’ learning site at Bitung, Indonesia to test “bait to plate” seafood traceability technology
