THE EIGHTH MEETING OF THAILAND’S NATIONAL FISHERIES REFUGIA COMMITTEE
This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”The 8th Meeting of National Fisheries Refugia Committee was organized via Zoom platform on 19 April 2021. The NFRC8 results are as follows:
1) Boundary area of fisheries refugia in Surat Thani Site, based on the stakeholder workshop in March 2021,
2) Revision of the Notifications on Fisheries Refugia Management Committee
3) Schedule for drafting of the management plan for short mackerel in Trat Fisheries Refugia.UNEP/GE
Local Consultation Workshops on Fisheries Refugia Boundary and Management Planning in Surat Thani Site
This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”Local consultation workshops on fisheries refugia boundary and management planning in Surat Thai Site under the project entitled “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand” were co-organized by Chumphon Fisheries Research and Development Center and Surat Thani Fisheries Provincial Office during 9 – March 2021 with 409 participants. These workshops were on-site conducted in all of the 7 coastal districts of Surat Thani mainland, namely, Chaiya, Tha Chang, Tha Chana, Don Sak, Kanchanadit, Muang, and Phunphin, aimed at enhancing local involvement in fisheries refugia boundary delineation and management planning in Surat Thani Site The conclusions were to be prepared for further consideration on policy guidance by Provincial Fisheries Committee.UNEP/GE
FIELD TRIP REPORT TO FOLLOW UP THE IMPLEMENTATION OF COLLABORATION AND ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM FOR BLUE SWIMMING CRAB REFUGIA AT KOH PO, KEP PROVINCE
This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”Department of Fisheries Conservation (DFC) made sub-contract with FiAC in Kep to ensure the management of blue swimming crab resource refugia at Koh Po during spawning season of blue swimming crab starting May to July based on MAFF proclamation on Establishment of Management Area of Blue Swimming Crab Refugia at Koh Po.
Teamwork from DFC met and discussed with FiAC in Kep to follow up activities done related to the management of blue swimming crab refugia at Koh Po. Those activities included the dissemination of closed fishing blue swimming crab, patrolling, and standby at refugia siteUNEP/GE

This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”The development of website consists of the context of a research project’s implementation. This is considered as a minimum requirement for the diffusion of the project’s results and visibility purposes. In addition, the webserver hosting the website may facilitate other critical technical activities such as data maintenance and management by cooperating with a file server or provide classified access to the project resources through a cooperating content management system. For the purposes of the fisheries refugia research project, the website may serve both as a simple public information station and as a connection point with other project services.UNEP/GE
Stakeholder Consultation Meeting at Provincial Level to Verify the Map of Marine Fisheries Management Area Including Fisheries Refugia in Kampot Province
This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”The stakeholder consultation meeting at provincial level to verify the map of marine fisheries management area including fisheries refugia in Kampot with Development Companies was organized by Fisheries Administration (FiA) of Cambodia collaborating with Kampot Provincial Hall Administration and Kampot Fisheries Administration Cantonment on 23 September 2021. The aim of this meeting was to reply to the meeting spirit on 8 September under presided by Kampot provincial governor, and agreed to continuously discuss and verify the map of marine fisheries. The meeting was attended by 21 participants in total. Report of the Third Meeting of Site-Based Fisheries Refugia Management Board in Surat Thani Province
This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”The 3rd meeting of Site-based Fisheries Refugia Management Board in Surat Thani Province for the Project entitled “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand” was organized by Chumphon Fisheries Research and Development Center, Department of Fisheries on 14th December 2021 at Wang Tai Hotel, Surat Thani Province There were a total of 40 participants joining the meeting, including board committee, resource persons, project officers, and observers from Department of Fisheries and private sectors. Fisheries Refugia Site Management Committee Meeting: Bolinao Site
This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”The meeting was held in June 2021 at the Bolinao Refugia Site to update the project results and ways forward to achieve the project target by 2022. NFRDI introduced the overview and refugia concept, updated activities during 2017-2020, the results of the fish landing survey, and Validation of Fisheries Profile and Boundary Delineation and Threats of Fisheries Refugia Site in Masinloc. NFRDI informed the way forward issues the refugia management plan, establishment of the refugia management team and site-based voluntary, and review of fisheries and environmental laws.UNEP/GE
