Management of diabetes in patients hospitalized for acute cardiac events: Joint position paper from the French Society of Cardiology and the French-speaking Diabetes Society
International audiencePatients with type 2 diabetes, but also older patients with type 1 diabetes, are at major risk of cardiovascular morbidity and death. After an acute cardiac event, the prognosis of patients with diabetes is impaired, with clear increases in in-hospital and long-term morbidity and deaths. Both hyper- and hypoglycaemia are deleterious after an acute cardiac event, and the decision to start intravenous insulin is often challenging. Moreover, some antidiabetic treatments have cardioprotective effects, and the onset of an acute cardiac event provides an opportunity to shift to these treatments. The objective of this position statement is to offer practical tools to cardiologists seeking to improve the care of patients with diabetes hospitalized for an acute cardiac event, and to optimize collaboration between cardiologists and diabetologists. After a summary of the evidence for antidiabetic treatments in patients with acute cardiac events, we propose an algorithm to start and adapt intravenous insulin in the most severe patients, and conclude with standard insulin protocols or oral treatments at discharge. We also discuss appropriate antidiabetic treatment of these patients at discharge, based on the main cardiological diagnosis, kidney function and antidiabetic strategies. Finally, situations in which the diabetologist must be consulted are discussed
Lightweight Visualisation for Vortex Tracking in Airflow Acquisition
International audienceVentilation systems are spread in most buildings and housing. They provide control on air quality, while provisioning acceptable thermal conditions. However, slotted plates that direct air jets often produce acoustic disturbances with a self-sustained tone. Understanding and controlling the phenomenon requires complex experimentation with expensive setups. This article proposes an open source, web-based, interactive visualisation system dedicated to the observation and analysis of recorded high frequency captures (3kHz or more) of air streams, charged with thin oil particles. It relies on the acquired images and estimated vector fields, coming from industrial existing systems. Our goal is to visualise the main flow parameters, such as speed, gradients, directions, vortex tracking with path prediction, and vortex frequencies. The obtained results highlight interesting phenomena that illustrate sounds production. They can be employed by physicists to understand, explain, and control the generated acoustics
Leaf-scale chlorophyll fluorescence LiDAR development and preliminary results for field measurements
International audienceOutdoor measurement of chlorophyll fluorescence at the leaf scale as a reliable and fast probe of plant photosynthetic activity is a challenge in agronomy. A better understanding of the stationary and transient heterogeneity of photosynthetic activity within the canopy will require concomitant leaf scale measurements targeting different strata, since irradiance varies depending on leaf orientation and position within the canopy. As a contribution to the emergence of such tools, this communication presents the development and preliminary measurements of chlorophyll fluorescence LiDAR, with an measurement range of 60 cm and a footprint of 30 cm2. It was performed indoors on maize
Investigation of iron oxide and kaolinite interactions during sintering under controlled atmosphere
International audienceThis study investigates the impact of atmosphere conditions on the thermal transformations of iron-enriched kaolin. Natural kaolin was chemically enriched with iron at two concentrations. Fine characterisation was conducted using X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer spectroscopy, solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance and electron dispersive spectroscopy. The samples were heat-treated at 1050 • C and 1400 • C under synthetic air and argon to assess the influence of these conditions on their transformations.Analyses revealed that presence of iron significantly influenced reaction kinetics. Under oxidizing atmosphere, the formation of mullite was facilitated by an equilibrium with hematite. The presence of iron accelerated the formation of secondary mullite and cristobalite, though the effect was not proportional to iron concentration. Conversely, under oxygen-deficient atmosphere, the reaction pathway diverged, leading to the formation of hercynite, tridymite (and after cristobalite) and mullite. Iron similarly promoted formation of these phases. No significant differences were observed for the pure kaolin sample under either atmosphere.</div
The Matrix Subcode Equivalence problem and its application to signature with MPC-in-the-Head
Nowadays, equivalence problems are widely used in cryptography, most notably to establish cryptosystems such as digital signatures, with MEDS, LESS, PERK as the most recent ones. However, in the context of matrix codes, only the code equivalence problem has been studied, while the subcode equivalence is well-defined in the Hamming metric. In this work, we introduce two new problems: the Matrix Subcode Equivalence Problem and the Matrix Code Permuted Kernel Problem, to which we apply the MPCitH paradigm to build a signature scheme. These new problems, closely related to the Matrix Code Equivalence problem, ask to find an isometry given a code and a subcode . Furthermore, we prove that the Matrix Subcode Equivalence problem reduces to the Hamming Subcode Equivalence problem, which is known to be NP-Complete, thus introducing the matrix code version of the Permuted Kernel Problem. We also adapt the combinatorial and algebraic algorithms for the Matrix Code Equivalence problem to the subcode case, and we analyze their complexities. We find with this analysis that the algorithms perform much worse than in the code equivalence case, which is the same as what happens in the Hamming metric. Finally, our analysis of the attacks allows us to take parameters much smaller than in the Matrix Code Equivalence case. Coupled with the effectiveness of \textit{Threshold-Computation-in-the-Head} or \textit{VOLE-in-the-Head}, we obtain a signature size of 4 800 Bytes, with a public key of 275 Bytes. We thus obtain a reasonable signature size, which brings diversity in the landscape of post-quantum signature schemes, by relying on a new hard problem. In particular, this new signature scheme performs better than SPHINCS+, with a smaller size of public key + signature. Our signature compares also well with other signature schemes: compared to MEDS, the signature is smaller, and we reduced the size of the sum of signature and public key by a factor close to 5. We also obtain a signature size that is almost half the size of the CROSS signature scheme
