Statistically significant results were found in group A, observed between the results of 0th day and 96th day with P <0.01 in subjective parameter for Memory Score in Test of memory for children, on 48th and 96th day none of the children were maintained in statusquo instead 70% (14 children), 80% (16 children) respectively showed better response on 48th and 96th day and good response was seen in 30% (06 children) and 20% (04 children) respectively on 48th and 96th day

Suppositories are solid dosage forms intended for insertion into body cavities or orifices, where they melt or dissolved to exert either local or systemic effect. Phalavarti is an Ayurvedic way of application of suppositories in rectal ailments as discussed in Samhitas. Phalavarthi is one of VatiKalpana, It is a simple homemade medicament which can be prepared with easily available ingredients, It can be used in various types of GIT disorders like Udavarta, Anaha, Adhmana, Arsas, Gulma, Udara, Vibanda, which are some of the very common problems faced by general population due to irregular dietary habits and sedentary life style leading to Mandagni. The impaired digestion is main cause for various types of systemic and metabolic disorders. In such conditions Vatanulomana is main line of management. Apart from above specified conditions, Phalavarthi preparations can also be used in Panchakarma ayoga conditions like Virechana, Niruha, Anuvasana and Uttara vasthi. Despite the fact that various types of Phalavarthi preparations have been mentioned in Ayurveda texts, they are not in regular use due to less attention and focus received on this subject. There fore the present scientific study has been taken up to overcome the practical difficulties in both preparation and application of Phala vartis with a scientific approach. Phalavarthi is a very unique concept which is far superior to modern concept of rectal suppositories, it can be administered to children, old persons and all those who cannot swallow drugs easily. Hence keeping this advantage in mind, an attempt has been made to prepare and administer Phalavarthi in GIT disorders following the guidelines of Acharya Charaka and also keeping in view of modern principles of preparation of suppositories

    Get PDF
This review article explores the central role of "Guna" in the three foundational aspects of Ayurvedic practice: "Hetu" (causes), "Linga" (symptoms), and "Aushadh" (medications). A deep understanding of the Guna\u27s role in Hetu is crucial as it serves as the cornerstone for a comprehensive comprehension of symptomatology, referred to as "Lakshana." Analyzing the Guna attributes associated with symptoms enables informed decision-making in the selection of medications with specific properties that effectively target the Guna involved in both Hetu and Lakshana. To ensure the accurate choice of Aushadha, an in-depth grasp of Hetu and Linga is of paramount importance. Neglecting the analysis of Guna attributes during the Hetu and Linga stages can result in the erroneous selection of substances or "Dravya." Thus, a thorough examination of the inherent qualities (Guna) within all these criteria is essential to guarantee the efficacy of Ayurvedic treatment. In essence, Guna acts as the binding thread that interconnects these three fundamental components of Ayurvedic practice, guiding practitioners in making informed and effective therapeutic decisions. This article underscores the significance of Guna in the practice of Ayurveda and its pivotal role in ensuring the holistic well-being of individuals

An Ayurvedic & Contemporary Perspective on a Comprehensive Appraisal of Ageing

    Get PDF
As well as being a Swabhavaja Vyadhi (natural sickness), Avurveda has seen Jara or Vardhakya as a natural and unavoidable process. When an organ of a different system begins to degenerated and lose its anatomical and physiological capabilities over time, it is said to be ageing. This process can occur in a cell, an organ, or the entire organism. Shareera (physical), Indriya (emotional), Satwa (psychological level), Agni (metabolism), Bala and Ojas etc. are influencing factors for Jara (ageing). The final stage of life is called Vriddhavastha (Jara). During this phase, every aspect of the body begins to degenerate, including the Dhatu (different anatomical tissues), the Indriya (sensory and motor organ), the ability to perceive, the power of speech, the power of the body, and numerous mental and cognitive functions (such as memory, intellect, reception, retention, analytic ability, etc). The Vayu dosha predominates throughout this phase (one of the three physiological body factors). The most noticeable physical changes at this time include ageing skin, greying hair, baldness, and a decline in physical stamina. Loss of muscle compactness, joint looseness, vitiation of Rakta (blood), excessive production of Meda (fatty tissue), failure of Majja (marrow) accumulation in bone, failure of production of Shukra (semen), and loss of Ojas component are examples of these pathological alterations. This article is made to explore the physiological changes during Aging

    Get PDF
Epilepsy, a chronic neurological condition, can potentially allow up to 70% of individuals to live seizure-free with appropriate diagnosis and treatment, but it also carries a threefold higher risk of premature death compared to the general population, underscoring its seriousness. Epilepsy is a chronic neurological condition characterized by recurrent seizures and disturbances in consciousness. It can be correlated with the Ayurvedic concept of Apasmara, which involves occasional unconsciousness accompanied by unpleasant symptoms such as vomiting froth and abnormal body postures. Ayurveda recognizes Ghrita (ghee), particularly Go Ghrita derived from cow\u27s milk, as a versatile food and medicinal substance with therapeutic effects. Go Ghrita is highly regarded for its ability to balance Vata and Pitta Doshas and its lipophilic nature, allowing it to penetrate the blood-brain barrier for targeted delivery and increased bio-availability. Go Ghrita\u27s Rasayana property suggests that long-term use may help reduce the recurrence of epilepsy. When medications are processed with Ghrita, it enhances their medicinal properties, making formulations utilizing Go Ghrita potentially more advantageous and efficacious for treating epilepsy

Cough is an ongoing problem that affects a large proportion of the human community leading them to seek medical attention. It has been identified as the sixth common reason for hospital outpatient department visits. In classics, descriptions of disease Kasa clearly correlate with bronchitis and its pathophysiology exactly correlates the mechanism of cough reflex. Ayurveda advocates certain remedies to cure and prevent such diseases. Hence the present study has been contemplated to evaluate and verify the effectiveness of the Classical Ayurvedic remedies with special reference to pathogens causing the respiratory tract infections. Among the latest Ayurvedic formulations the Gojihwadi Kwatha which was designed and developed by none other than the famous physician of this era the great Vaidya Yadavji Trikamji Acharya has been selected for the study. This present study entitled “Pharmaceutico-analytical evaluation of modified dosage forms of Gojihwadi Kwatha” was carried out with a view to standardize Gojiwadi kwath and prepare its modified forms viz. Gojihwadi syrup, Gojihwadi granules, and Gojihwadi kwath churna. 12kg Gojihwadi kwaath churna was prepared while 6-liter Gojihwadi syrup and 3 kg Gojihwaadi granules were prepared. Gojihwaadi syrup has viscosity of 34.62 cP, total sugar content of 85.07 %w/w, reducing sugar content of 1.42 %w/w, non-reducing sugar content of 83.65%w/w and pesticide residue value within limits of standard parameter. Gojihwadi granules have total sugar of 78.44%w/w, an average particle size of 34.70. Total bacterial count, Total fungal count, and specific pathogens (E. coli, Salmonella spp, S.aureus, and Ps.aeroginosa) were absent in Gojihwadi kwatha churna, Gojihwadi syrup and Gojihwadi granules. So, it can be concluded that all the modified dosage forms of Gojihwadi kwatha are safe to use
