Role of Herbomineral Drugs in the Management of Diarrhea and Late Effects of Chemotherapy in the Patient of Oral Cavity Cancer
Cancer is a state of uncontrolled proliferation of cells that leads to various types of malignancies. It is a type of non-communicable disease that causes millions of deaths every year. For the management of cancer various types of surgical and nonsurgical intervention are practiced. Chemotherapy is the widely used nonsurgical intervention for the management of cancer. After chemotherapy side effects like diarrhea/constipation, hair loss, nausea, vomiting, fatigue etc are seen in patients. Side effects of chemotherapy include damage to rapidly growing cells of body such as mucosal lining from mouth to the gastrointestinal tract. Damage to gastrointestinal mucosal lining due to drugs used in chemotherapy, surface area available for nutrient and water absorption significantly reduced. Patients suffer with recurrent diarrhea due to toxicity of chemotherapeutic drugs on GIT. In modern medicine some selected drugs are used to treat the chemotherapy induced diarrhea (CID). In Ayurvedic texts Atisaar is elaborately discussed by Acharyas which closely resembles diarrhea. Treatment of chemotherapy induced diarrhea by using Ayurvedic medicines is much effective and less costly. In Ayurveda, herbomineral medicines are used to treat diarrhea (Atisaar). In present study some herbomineral drugs used in a patient suffering from diarrhea and late effects of chemotherapy and result was enthusiastic
Marma Therapy - A Healing Touch for Pain with Gate Control Theory and Neuromodulation Technique
Ayurveda is Indian traditional healing system. The science of Marma, is an holistic approach of Ayurveda for preventive and curative aspects of various diseases. Marma points are centres of Prana or vital force, when stimulated appropriately, Marmas can modify the functional conditions of body. Different techniques and procedures are used to stimulate Marma points. Prana or energy flow is channelise, leading to a state of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Marma therapy aims to provide instant relief from pain. Pain is defined as condition caused by stimuli that go beyond the intensity threshold for sensory nerve endings. Peripheral receptor activation triggers neuronal impulses, which induce pain within the higher cerebral centres. If someone is exposed to a painful (noxious) stimulus, administering a non-noxious stimulation by Marma therapy can help activate the gate control mechanism and reduce the sensation of pain. Marma therapy can be considered an ancient neuromodulation technique that emphasizes the connection between the body’s energy points and overall well-being. Neuromodulation is the alteration of nerve activity through targeted delivery of a stimulus to specific neurological sites in the body. In this article, the scholar attempts to explore the science behind Marma therapy and its effectiveness in the pain management. By harnessing the power of touch and energy, Marma therapy provides a healing touch for those seeking relief from pain and promotes overall wellness
A Critical Review Study on Role of Shirodhara in Twakvikar
Shirodhara, a traditional Ayurvedic therapy, involves the rhythmic pouring of medicated liquids over the forehead, primarily aimed at stress management and relaxation. Its potential in addressing Twakvikar (skin disorders) like eczema, psoriasis, and acne, linked to Pitta and Vata dosha imbalances, is noteworthy. By alleviating stress, pacifying Doshas, and enhancing systemic balance, Shirodhara contributes to managing these conditions holistically, emphasizing the mind-body connection. Clinical studies suggest its role in enhancing natural detoxification processes and regulating the hypothalamus and limbic system, reducing psychological stress and hormonal imbalances underlying many skin disorders. Shirodhara\u27s dual impact on mental and physical health, combined with its ability to improve blood circulation and promote relaxation, supports skin rejuvenation. Medicated oils like Ksheeradhara and Tailadhara nourish and heal inflamed skin, making Shirodhara a valuable adjunct in managing chronic or stress-induced Twakvikar
Ayurvedic Management of Thrombosed Haemorrhoids (ICD-10-K 64.5)
Haemorrhoids, are described as swollen blood vessels in the anal canal, India has one of the highest rates of piles in the world, with about 11% of the prevalence rate. The prevalence of piles is higher in urban areas, and men are more likely to be affected than women. And this condition is one of the most common conditions seen in Shalya tantra OPD. Haemorrhoids typically results from persistent straining during bowel movements, which can occur in cases of constipation or diarrhoea. According to Ayurveda, haemorrhoids can be correlated with Arsha based on the Lakshana. Due to the limitations of standard medical treatments and a high rate of hesitance regarding surgical options, there is an increasing demand for alternative approaches to manage this condition. Thrombosed Pile mass is one among the complications of the haemorrhoids. It is an extremely painful condition characterised by dark purple or black solid mass and the anal margin becomes oedematous with severe pain. Pain may continue for a week or so until the oedema subsides and the thrombus is absorbed. In this case report a 30 year old male patient a known case of haemorrhoid came to Shalya tantra OPD at Dr.BRKR Government Ayurvedic hospital, Hyderabad with sudden onset of severe pain in anal region, Reddish and slightly bluish colour solid pile mass. And it was successfully treated with oral Ayurvedic medicine Lasunadi vat, Arshohara vati and Panchasarkara churna and without any surgical intervention. After one week of medication patient got complete relief from the symptoms. This paper is aimed to highlight and to know about properties of Lasunadi vati and its effect on thrombosed pile mass

An Analytical Ayurvedic Perspective on Microbiota and its Understanding in Artavavaha Sroto Vikara with Special Reference to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
The causes of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) include diet, host genes, environmental factors, stress and hormonal changes; however, research have shown its association with variations in the gut microbiome which has a direct influence on microbiota of reproductive system. The global prevalence of PCOS is estimated between 4% and 20%. Acharya Cakrapani classifies Udbhavasthana of Vyadhi as two-Amashaya and Pakwashaya. Based on the type of diet and regimen of an individual, the Amashaya gets affected causing Agni Dusthi in turn influences the formation of Rasa Dhatu and its Upadhatu Artava causing diseases like Artava Kshaya. There are Ayurvedic references related to microorganisms which reside in different sites of human body including gut and reproductive system capable of producing disease which are known as Krimi and these are capable of producing gynecological disorders. The aim of this study is to explore the Ayurvedic concepts that may provide to generate ideas related to association between gut microbiota on the function of reproductive system and role of reproductive system microbiota in causation of PCOS and to analyse the benefits of Ayurvedic principles in the management of PCOS. Methods: This review aims to utilise existing literature on the relationship between the microbiome and PCOS and put forth the related Ayurvedic concepts. Results: The main focus is on identifying novel therapeutic and preventive strategies where Ayurveda proves beneficial. Discussion: The microbiota interacts with estrogen, androgens, insulin, and other hormones and influences to cause metabolic disorders like PCOS. Disturbance in menstrual cycle can be due to various causes and Krimi could be one of the causes. Conclusion: Artava kshaya mentioned by Acharya Sushruta presents with similar menstrual abnormalities that of PCOS which can be treated with an effective Ayurvedic management protocol
Effect of Sthanika Chikitsa in the Management of Yonivyapad
Disorders of the female genital tract or the vaginal disorders are on rise due to the current lifestyle and food habits. It is considered as an important public health problem worldwide particularly in developing countries. World Health Organization (WHO), globally has reported an estimation of 357 million new cases of reproductive tract infection annually. These disorders can be correlated to Yonivyapads in Ayurveda and are twenty in number. All the Ayurveda Acharyas have described in depth about these disorders, its Dindana, Samprapti. Lakshanas and Chikitsa that includes both the Sarvadaihika and Sthanika chikitsa. Sthanika chikitsa or the local therapeutic procedure encompasses the treatments such as Yoni lepana, Yoni prakshalana, Yoni poorana, Yoni dhoopana, Yoni Abhyanga, Yoni Varti, Yonidharana etc. in the management of Yononivyapads. Application of these local therapies are said to produce effective results based on the procedure, duration, indications, selection of drugs and the patients. Due to the higher tendency of absorption in the vagina and the female genital tract, these local therapies or the Sthanika chikitsa act on the absorption mechanism and hence produces the effect of the medicine on the tissue applied thereby helps in the reduction of the disorders. The present study attempts to evaluate the effect of all the Sthanika chikitsa explained in the Ayurvedic medicine
A Comprehensive Study of Paadagat Marma with special reference to its Vidha Lakshna
Marma Sharira, a vital aspect of Ayurveda, refers to critical anatomical points that, if injured, can lead to severe consequences or death. According to Sushruta, injuries to Marma points cause imbalances in bodily functions, potentially resulting in death. The study focuses on Marma points in the Paadagat region, including Kurchshira, Kurcha, Talahridaya, and Kshipra, all of which are significant in foot health and can lead to life-threatening conditions. Aim: To study about Paadagat Marma and its Vidha Lakshna. Objectives: 1. To study Paadagat Marma points from ayurvedic texts. 2. To elaborate the anatomical structures related to Paadgat Marma on which an injury can possibly cause Vidha Lakshna as mentioned in Ayurvedic literature. Results: Dissection revealed that each Marma is associated with critical structures: Kurchshira Marma involves tendons and ligaments, while Kurcha Marma is linked to tendons and muscles responsible for foot stability. Talahridaya Marma is situated in the sole and is prone to infections and bleeding, while Kshipra Marma is associated with arterial damage and tetanus. Each injury presents distinct symptoms, such as pain, swelling, tremors, and functional impairment. Discussion: Injuries to these Marma points result in varying degrees of disability and may lead to fatal outcomes if not treated immediately. Kurchshira and Talahridaya are classified as Rujakara and Kalantarapranahara Marma, respectively, while Kurcha and Kshipra are Vaikalyakara Marma due to their impact on foot function and stability. Conclusion: Injuries to Paadagat Marmas require urgent medical intervention due to their potential for severe complications, including death, necessitating quick diagnosis and treatment for effective recovery
