    Bangunan kolonial di Indonesia merupakan fenomena yang unik, percampuran budaya antara penjajah dan budaya Indonesia yang tidak terdapat ditempat lain serta disesuaikan  dengan kondisi iklimnya yaitu iklim tropis lembab. Kota Ende pada masa lalu menjadi salah satu daerah tujuan para pedagang dan pelayar dari Jawa,  Makassar,  dan  Ternate.  Karena  menjadi  salah  satu  titik  transit  para  pedagang  maka  sejarah keagamaan dan kepentingan-kepentingan Kolonialisme bermain di daerah-daerah pelabuhan di Kota Ende. Bangunan bernilai sejarah yang masih bertahan dan memiliki ciri arsitektur  kolonial di Kota Ende, salah satunya adalah bangunan Sekolah Menengah Atas Katolik (SMAK) Syuradikara, yang keberadaannya tanpa disadari beradaptasi dengan iklim tropis. Untuk mengetahui sejauh mana kondisi iklim tropis (pendekatan arsitektur tropis) dapat mempengaruhi desain bangunan SMAK Syuradikara di Kota Ende, maka penulis melakukan  kajian.  Kajian  ini  dilakukan  dengan  menggunakan    metode  kualitatif  deskriptif.  Pendekatan terhadap iklim tropis yang dikaji meliputi orientasi bangunan, bukaan dan material yang digunakan. Metode kualitatif  deskriptif  digunakan  untuk  menguraikan  elemen  desain  bangunan  SMAK  Syuradikara  yang berkaitan  erat  dengan  iklim  tropis.  Dalam  melakukan  kajian  ini  pengumpulan  data  dilakukan  dengan wawancara,  survey,  observasi  dan studi literatur.  Dari hasil kajian ditemukan  bahwa orientasi  bangunan secara keseluruhan menghadap dan memanjang kearah utara   dan selatan. Permukaan bangunan yang menghadap arah datang dan terbenam matahari hanya sedikit yang menerima panas matahari. Aliran angin di sekitar bangunan datang dari arah timur dan barat dan ruangan yang mendapatkan  aliran angin yang baik adalah ruang kelas. Orientasi peletakan jendela lebih dominan menghadap ke arah utara dan selatan. Keberadaan  teras  disepanjang  bangunan  untuk  mengantisipasi  sinar  matahari  langsung  yang  mengenai dinding bangunan, serta hempasan dari air hujan. Material lantai dari keramik dan tegel yang belum dipoles dengan  permukaan  sedikit  kasar  sehingga  menyerap  panas,  ruangan  cenderung  lebih  dingin.  Dinding bangunan terbuat dari susunan bata yang diplester, tebal dinding antara 30 sampai 40 centimeter, sehingga dapat mereduksi udara panas yang ada dalam ruangan

    Application Some Extracts of plant as Trap Material of Fruit Flies (Bactrocera sp). This study aims to determine: 1) the ability of Pala, Basil and Clove seed extract as a trap material for Bactrocera sp. 2) the best plant extract as a trap material for Bactrocera sp. The extraction activity was carried out at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Flores, while the fruit fly trap installation was carried out in Ndengga Rongge Village (± 913 m asl) and Lokoboko (± 698 m asl) in Ende Regency. The study was conducted for 3 months, namely in April - June 2018. Observation variables used included the types of fruit fly found in the field and calculated the level of diversity, abundance and dominance of pests and the capture power of each trap in the type of extraction. There are three types of fruit flies trapped in 3 types of attractants in tomato plantations, namely Bactrocera papaya, Bactrocera umbrosa Fabricius and Bactrocera latifrons Handel.  Diversity index of Bactrocera sp. in the research location is still relatively low.  The highest abundance is B.papayae with the average value of H '= 1.86 and the lowest is  B.latifros (H’= 0,07). There is no dominance of type at research location which indicates that the condition of the ecosystem is still stable.     Land Productivity and NKL on Tumpangsari Three Maize Variety Cultivation (Zea mays caratina Kulesh) With Various Interval Time Plants (Archis hipogaea L.) as Select Plant. This study aims to determine the combination of timing planting and planting techniques that can improve the productivity of land and NKL values ??on the application of intercropping cultivation technology in dry land conditions in Ende-NTT. The experimental design using Division Split Plot (RPT) consists of two factors repeated three times. The treatment of corn varieties (V1: Local varieties, V2: Uri varieties, V3: Binthe Pulu varieties) while planting time was placed as subplot (T1: Maize planted 15 days after peanut planting T2: Corn is grown together with peanut planting T3: Corn is grown 15 days before planting peanuts, as comparison of each treatment is also planted in monculture, so that obtained 31 units of experiment plot The data collection is done by calculating dry weight of seeds produced by all plant crops in the harvest plots, and the crops in the harvest plots. The results show that intercropping crops between pulut and peanut crops in various pulses maize varieties and peanut planting times increased the productivity of the land 1, with the highest land productivity dida The maize varieties of Uri corn is grown simultaneously with groundnut planting (V2T2) of 1.52 and followed by treatment of local varieties of pulutans planted together with peanut plant (V1T2) of 1.46

    This study aims at investigating the content of cadmium on carrots, leeks, and string bean grown on limestone and volcanic soil with different dose of P Fertilizer and comparing the contents with cadmium content standardized by FAO/WHO. This pot test employed random block design and was a factorial test with three factors, namely factor of plant species, soil type, and fertilizer dose with three repeated tests. The levels of each factor are plants species consisting of Carrot (C1), leek (C2), and string bean (C3); soil type comprises of Andosol Nduaria (S1), MollisolFatumnasi (S2), VertisolOesao (S3) and MollisolBaumata (S4) and the fertilization consists of three levels of P fertilizer, namely 100 kg SP-36 per ha (F3), 50 kg SP-36 per ha (F2) and without P fertilizer (F1). The result of this study shows that the prediction model of cadmium content on the carrot, leek, and string bean based on cadmium, pH, electricity power, and land organic C content cannot be revealed in this study since the cadmium content cannot be detected by AAS. Moreover, the cadmium content on the carrot, leek, and string bean planted on four soil types and given different doses of P Fertilizer are under the standard set up by FAO/WHO (<0,05-01 mg kg-1)

    The research aimed to know the use of vegetable attractants for monitoring  fruit flies (bactrocera sp) and to know the most effective attractant on trapping fruit flies of chilli plant (Capsicum annum L). The method used in this study was Randomized Block Design namely treatment without attractan (A0), Steiner + guava attractan (A1), steiner + custard apple attractan (A2), steiner + banana attractan (A3), steiner +papaya attractan (A4). The variable is a population of fruit flies, the number of rotten fruit, and rotten intensity of fruit. The result showed that the use of vegetable attractan is effective in monitoring fruit flies pest, in which population of fruit flies pest was trapped about 27.74  %, a number of rotten fruit is 23,38 % and rotten intensity is 18,64 %. Custard apple attraction gave the highest influence on all observed variables

    THE EFFECTS OF SALT ON BREAD: TECHNOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR REDUCED SALT LEVELS

    Salt is a dietary mineral composed primarily of sodium chloride. These two components of salt are an essential nutrient for humans with important functions in regulating the extracellular fluid volume and the active transport of molecules across cell membranes. However, having too much salt in the diet increases the risk of health problems.  High sodium intake is positively correlated with the level of blood pressure. Therefore, it is necessary to consume food with reduced salt content. Salt has been used as a food preservative that kills or limits of foodborne pathogens and spoilage organism by decreasing water activity. Salt also has functions in foods by adding flavour and masking bitter tastes, controlling the growth of yeast and strengthening the dough network and gas retention of the dough.  Reducing salt content in processed food especially for bread-based products is one of the greatest ongoing challenges facing food manufactures. It also has been difficult to reduce or remove salt or sodium chloride from bread since salt is one of the four essential ingredients in bread. Reducing salt level from 1.2% does not significantly affect dough rheological properties and bread-making quality. However, the omission of salt entirely leads to a significant reduction in the dough, bread quality and its palatability

    Use of chemical pesticides has been shown to have many negative side effects, such as insecticide resistance and resurgence, an outbreak of secondary pests and diseases, the disappearance of parasitoid and predator species as well as residual effects on food crops and on the environment. Over the past 60 years, both the number of agricultural toxins in the environment and incidence rates of toxin-related diseases has increased dramatically. The most effective way to combat this problem is through the use of natural predators. One of the best examples of this is the use of host-specific bacteriophages to control bacterial diseases. The mechanism of infection is a very interesting one. To break through the bacterial cell wall the bacteriophages must produce a range of lytic enzymes.  This review will examine and discuss studies of these site-specific cell wall lytic enzymes and their roles in the infection of bacteriophages
