Aim: Objective of present study is to know the percentages of incidences of complete and incomplete metopic sutures. Place of the Study: The present study done was on Metopic sutures that came across in dry unknown human skulls in the Department of Anatomy in  at Narayan Medical College, Nellore, AP. Period of Study: This study was carried out during the year 2008-2009. Materials & Methods: Sixty Two Unknown dry human skulls from the Department of Anatomy in Narayan Medical College, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh constituted the material for the present study. Each skull was examined for the i] presence or Absence of metopic sutures, & their number, ii] type [complete or incomplete] iii] their pattern y-shaped, Vshaped, iv] Extent, v] Their location. Any associated bony abnormalities are also examined. Results: This study showed more percentages of incomplete Metopic sutures-Metopism [25.80%] & less percentages of complete Metopic sutures in [4.838%]%. Complete Metopic sutures extended from Nasion to Bregma in the mid line over the frontal bone, while Incomplete metopic were found at the root of nose. Conclusion: This difference in percentages of incidences was due to either population or racial or numerical differences

Various novel heterocyclic mannich bases were prepared by using Mannich reaction. Acetanilide was treated with substituted benzaldehyde and morpholine / methyl amine to give corresponding titled compounds in good yields. The synthesized compounds were characterized by physical properties and spectral studies (IR, 1H-NMR) and tested for antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis by using cup plate method with reference to the standard Streptomycin. All the titled compounds show good antimicrobial activity

The tongue is the primary organ of taste and considered as the mirror that reflects the conditions of the body\u27s internal organs, particularly the organs of digestion and metabolism. The tongue also reflects the overall digestive, nutritive and metabolic conditions of the organism. An ideally healthy tongue will look clean and have a pink colour with no white coating. In Ayurveda, Acharya Yogaratnakara has mentioned tongue examination as Jiwha Pariksha under Ashtasthana pariksha. Jiwha (Tongue) tells about the Dosha, Agni and Kostha. The tongue is the window to our digestive system. There is a large amount of information that can be learned from this observation, including the health of various bodily systems, toxins within the system, emotional states, and much more. So, the inspection of the tongue becomes an important starting point in the clinical examination and a careful observation of the state of tongue, its colour, and shape often gives a physician an insight into the current health condition of the patient

    No full text
Chayote (Sechium edule) is a pear-shaped, light green vegetable belonging to the Cucurbitaceae or gourd family. The antioxidant activities of Sechium edule extracts were tested by different established in vitro methods, namely reducing power, β-carotene linoleate model and 1,1- diphenyl-2 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging. Leaf ethanolic extracts and seed extracts showed strong inhibitory activity by β-carotene bleaching (AA values of 90%). Furthermore, these extracts exerted hydrogen-donating ability in the presence of DDPH stable radical (IC50 2 μg/ml). These extracts also showed strong reducing power by the potassium ferricyanide reduction method. Leaf and seed extracts may be exploited as bio preservatives in food. Eating Chayote has many health benefits
