SYNTHESIS, ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF SOME NOVEL SUBSTITUTED THIOPHENE DERIVATIVES
Various novel substituted thiophene derivatives were prepared by Gewald method using cyclohexanone/acetaldehyde treated with elemental sulphur and active nitriles like ethylcyanoacetate, cyanoacetamide and malanonitrile in presence of base morpholine and solvent ethanol to give corresponding titled compounds in good yields. The synthesized compounds were characterized by physical properties and spectral studies (IR, 1H-NMR& mass) and tested for antimicrobial activity
SYNTHESIS AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF MANNICH BASES CONTAINING MORPHOLINE MOIETY
A variety of morpholine derivatives as mannich bases were prepared through mannich reaction by reacting 4-nitro acetophenone as compound containing active hydrogen, substituted benzaldehyde and morpholine as secondary amine compound. All the synthesized compounds structures were characterized by physical analysis data and spectral analysis data (IR and 1H-NMR spectral analysis). The newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in comparision with standard drug Streptomycin. However the antibacterial activity of the synthesized compounds against the tested organisms was found to possess good to moderate activity
A CRITICAL REVIEW OF SHODHANA SNEHAPANA
Shodhanartha Snehapana is very significant procedure among the Panchakarma. The Snehapana therapy aims to prepare the body for Shodhanakarma and helps to bring the Doshas situated in peripheral tissues to the Koshtha a (bowel) so that they can be easily expelled out. This is achieved by Vriddhi (increase) and Vishyandana (dissolution or diffusion) karma of Snehapana therapy. Snehana decides the whole outcome of Shodhana therapy. If Snehana is not done properly, it affects the Shodhanakarma performed afterward. Without the proper digestion and absorption of Sneha in Koshtha, it cannot produce samyak Snigdha Lakshana (the symptoms appear in proper oleation) in the body. Hence the mode of action of Sneha in Koshtha during Snehapana should be thoroughly studied for the success of Snehapana therapy
ESTIMATION OF PAROXETINE HYDROCHLORIDE FROM ITS TABLET FORMULATION BY UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRY
A simple, precise and accurate UV Spectrophotometric method was developed for the estimation of Paroxetine hydrochloride. The developed method obeyed Beer-Lambert’s law in the concentration range of 5-30 µg/ml with a correlation coefficient of 0.995. The recovery study was carried out at three different levels and was found to be satisfactory. The percent amount of drug estimated by this method is 100%, found to be in good agreement with label claim of marketed tablet formulation. The validation parameters like linearity, precision, accuracy, robustness and ruggedness were studied and were found to be within limits. The proposed method can be adopted for routine quality control analysis of estimation of Paroxetine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulation
AN IN-DEPTH REVIEW OF AYURVEDIC BASTI KARMA (MEDICATED ENEMA)
Ayurvedic science deals with treating the diseases and maintaining the health of the healthy. Panchakarma therapies are usually employed to eradicate the vitiated Doshas and aid in maintaining the equilibrium of these Doshas, which is the fundamental basis of health. Any one of the five Panchakarma therapies can be utilized, either singly or in combination to prevent or cure a disease.
One such therapy is Basti Karma (Medicated Enema), which is an important treatment modality and it is thought to be Ardhachikitsa (50% of all the treatments required) by some Acharyas of Ayurveda. Classically, Basti is advocated to be administered in diseases of Vata Dosha predominance. Although Basti is administered in the Pakvashaya (rectum and Colon) its active ingredients spreads throughout the entire body, giving the desired outcome. Its action is multidimensional, though some consider it as a simple enema procedure. The therapeutic effect of Basti Karma can only be inferred through the efficacy of the procedure. In this article, an attempt is made to explain Basti Karma and its utility
SCOPE OF EXTRACTIVE VALUE TO JUSTIFY THE CONVERSION OF SASTRIC SIDDHA CHURNA TO TABLET DOSAGE FORM
The present study deals with the science of converting Sastric siddha churna to tablet dosage form. The Sastric form of Siddha churna is difficult to use by patients due to the coarse powder form as well as the high quantity to be consumed per dose (2-4 gm). In order to enhance the acceptance of Siddha churna by the modern world necessary change in presentation packaging is needed. The question of how to convert 2 gms of Churna to 500 mg of tablet requires greater scientific investigations and understanding. We have used the extractive value as the key determining factor to convert Sastric siddha churna to tablet dosage form. Details are presented in the paper
A CRITICAL STUDY OF MEDODHARA KALA AND ITS CORRELATION WITH ADIPOSE TISSUE
There are many concepts mentioned in the classics are scientific and worth understanding in modern words. Every concept of Ayurveda has its own importance. Among them Acharya Sushruta explained Sapta Kalas in the body which mainly separate Dhatu and Ashaya. Kala Sharir is an important part of an Ayurvedic anatomy. Kala means layers or membranes of our body. There are many layers or membranes in the body which form an envelope over the organs. They provide support and protection to the organs. Medodhara Kala is 3rd in position and is described by Sushruta and other Acharyas. Medadhatu (adipose tissue or fat) is one of the seven fundamental tissues (Saptadhatu). It provides wormth, lubrication and oiliness to the body. Fat protects the body and leads strength, sturdiness and stability to the organs. It helps to nourish the Asthidhatu. Adipose tissue or fat is an anatomical term for loose connective tissue composed of adipocytes. Its main role is to store energy in the form of fat, although it also cushions and insulates the body. In this way we can understand the Medodhara Kala in gross anatomy. So the collection and comprehensive review of information regarding Medodhara Kala in different resources and its structure and function becomes significant
A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON CORNEAL DISEASES IN AYURVEDA
Cornea is a transparent anterior one-sixth outer fibrous coat of the eye ball which is called Krishna mandala in Ayurveda, resembles a watch-glass in the wrist watch. The diseases of Cornea are due to damage to the Cornea by various causative factors that result in loss of transparency of the Cornea and progress into different stages of disease condition. These different stages of corneal diseases stand a major role in classification of corneal diseases in Ayurveda, i.e; Krishnagata Rogas. Out of total 76 eye diseases mentioned by Sushruta, he had enumerated Krishnagata Netra Roga as 4 in number. Vagbhata had enumerated total eye diseases as 94 among them 5 types of Krishnagata Netra Roga. A comprehensive literary study of assorted text books of Ancient Medicine in view of analogy between Allopathic corneal disorders and Ayurvedic Krishnagata Roga. The purpose of this comprehensive study is paralleling of corneal diseases in both the systems of medicine. The academic Ayurvedic manuscripts had ordered the corneal ailments in a serial and accelerating manner in which one condition will lead to next reciprocal stage of the disease. In a complimentary manner, an attentive effort has been executed to parallel the corneal ailments in both the Systems of Medicine. For the comparison of corneal disorders in both the systems of medicine, the clinical symptoms, advancement of disease, prognostic causes, and management have been considered

EVALUATION OF MEDITATION TO MODIFY HUMAN ATTITUDE
Although quality of life and facilities are increasing day by day but satisfaction level and mental health are deteriorating globally. Happiness quotient is fallen down and psychosomatic disorders, behavioral and adjustment problems are mushrooming in every sphere of society. Main reason behind all these is negative attitude of persons due to which one becomes pessimist and can’t see the brighter aspects of life. Stressors are always there but it’s the ability of humans to handle the stress which protects them and it comes from positivity in the attitude. In Yogsutra, Maharshi Patanjali clearly mentions that person becomes like his attitudes so one should control the attitude through meditation.
Taking this as baseline, a study was conducted on 20 apparently healthy volunteers to assess the effect of meditation practice of Heartfulness Institute’s point A&B meditation to see its transformational efficacy in increment in positivity of Mental Attitude. For this, volunteers were selected randomly and to measure their attitude, LIKERTSCALE is framed and evaluation of attitude was done before and after meditation trial of 21 days. For meditation evaluation, a seven scale criteria is formed to evaluate intensity with which volunteers performed meditation and to record the evidence.
After statistical analysis, this meditation practice was found highly significant in changing the human attitude and increasing its positivity. This result is quite enthusiastic after such a short span of trial and may be a landmark in maintaining mental health and quality of life if practiced regularly. It is a nondrug therapy advisable for masses requiring no vigorous training as indicated by the fact that no volunteer was practicing any spiritual practice earlier, they all were novice
