    Get PDF
This study develops a semiotic assessment instrument based on mathematical literacy as an innovative evaluation tool aligned with the Independent Curriculum. The research addresses the lack of instruments capable of comprehensively measuring students’ ability to interpret and apply mathematical symbols in meaningful contexts. Using the Borg & Gall Research and Development (R&D) model, the study followed systematic stages including needs analysis, design, expert validation, testing, and refinement. Data from 180 grade VIII students showed that 68.3% faced challenges in interpreting mathematical symbols, emphasizing the need for such an instrument. The developed instrument consists of 25 items categorized into symbol comprehension, conceptual interpretation, and contextual application. Expert validation indicated strong alignment (82–88%), with construct validity of 67% and a reliability coefficient of 0.78. Regression analysis demonstrated a significant positive correlation (r = 0.76, p < 0.01) between semiotic interpretation and problem-solving performance. Integrating Peirce’s semiotic theory and mathematical literacy principles, the instrument provides a holistic framework for evaluating students’ symbolic reasoning and supports curriculum goals focused on meaningful mathematical understanding

Transparency Of Information In Upselling Practices In The Modern Retail Industry

    Get PDF
The development of globalization and digital technology has spurred the evolution of selling practices in modern retail and e-commerce, which, lacking information transparency, can harm consumers via dark patterns. This study aims to analyze the role and responsibilities of the National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) in addressing upselling in Indonesia and compare its enforcement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the United States. The methodology employed is normative juridical, complemented by primary empirical data from interviews with BPKN and YLKI, using a comparative approach. Findings indicate that BPKN is passive and reactive, limited to a recommendatory function, which hinders optimal consumer protection. In sharp contrast, the FTC adopts a conduct-based model with strict investigative and punitive authority, imposing substantial sanctions to combat deceptive digital practices. The low transparency in Indonesia is attributed to the general regulatory framework (UUPK) and BPKN's institutional limitations. This study concludes that strengthening technical regulations, promoting proactive monitoring, and increasing BPKN's authority are essential for creating more adaptive and effective consumer protection

Restricting Veto Use In Humanitarian Crises: Urgency For Un Charter Amendment

    Get PDF
This study examines the need to impose legal limitations on the use of veto power to reinforce the principle of sovereign equality under Article 2(1) of the United Nations Charter. It focuses on the absolute nature of the veto exercised by the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, which remains legally unrestricted due to the absence of clearly defined legal standards regulating its exercise. In practice, this unrestricted authority has repeatedly obstructed humanitarian action and contributed to institutional paralysis during humanitarian crises. Using a normative juridical method with a conceptual and doctrinal approach, this research analyzes debates on veto power, the amendment procedure under Article 108 of the Charter, and the development of soft-law initiatives, including the Responsibility to Protect, the ACT Group's Code of Conduct, and the French–Mexican initiative. The findings suggest that absolute veto power fosters structural inequality among member states and erodes the legitimacy and effectiveness of the United Nations. The study concludes that a targeted amendment to the UN Charter, restricting the use of vetoes in clearly defined humanitarian crises, is both normatively justified and legally feasible within the existing constitutional framework of the United Nations

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze Tanmiyat Mahārāt al-Qirā’ah wa al-Kitābah using the IMTA’ Reference Framework for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers (Development – Instruction – Training). Employing a qualitative descriptive method with a content analysis approach, the research finds that the book fully conforms to the IMTA’ framework. The approach used in this research is qualitative, employing the content analysis methodology. This study utilizes a single instrument, namely documentation, supported by several scholarly references. Based on the collected data, several stages of data analysis were carried out. Based on the analysis, formal writing skills fall under the category of Mustawā al-Tamayyuz (Excellence Level), while non-formal writing skills are categorized under Mustawā al-Tahyiī’ah (Preparation Level). Furthermore, the stages of writing-skill development are situated within cognitive processes and coherence, which correspond to Mustawā al-Kifāyah (Proficiency Level). Furthermore, five stages in the writing process have been analyzed using the IMTA’ framework, and five corresponding strategies for developing writing skills have been identified, all of which align with the principles of the IMTA’ framework

Education is one of the most crucial factors for a child’s development. An educated child reflects an educated mindset and behavior pattern. Conversely, an uneducated child will demonstrate an uneducated way of thinking and behaving. Good education acts as a foundation that shapes a child’s bright future. Education is not merely limited to subjects within the curriculum, such as mathematics or history, but also encompasses the development of a child’s character. Educators hold the responsibility of carrying out the educational process. This article examines in depth the responsibility of educators from the perspective of the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as an ethical, spiritual, and moral foundation in building an integral Islamic education system. The focus of this study lies in exploring the concept of mas'uliyyah (accountability) in the hadiths and how these principles construct a framework for educators in nurturing a generation of faith and virtue. The methodology employed is a qualitative descriptive approach through the examination of classical and contemporary literature. The findings indicate that the hadiths emphasize the educator’s role not merely as a teacher, but more profoundly as a moral leader and guardian of the students’ innate nature (fitrah), bearing responsibility both vertically to Allah and horizontally to society. This study recommends the integration of prophetic values into the curriculum and practice of Islamic education, particularly within the contexts of family, school, and social environment as spaces for holistic character formation

    Get PDF
This study examines the impact of digital slang brainrot phenomenon on Generation Z's communication patterns in Indonesia. Using a descriptive quantitative approach through a survey of 109 respondents, the research analyzes the use of terms like rizz, gyatt, and sigma in daily interactions. Results indicate TikTok as the dominant platform (59.5%) for brainrot content dissemination, with 50.5% of respondents acknowledging intergenerational comprehension gaps. Employing Uses and Gratifications Theory and Mass Communication Theory, the study explains how brainrot serves both as an identity expression tool and entertainment source (82%), despite 64% of respondents recognizing its negative cognitive impacts, particularly reduced focus. Key findings reveal that brainrot language has established absurdist and expressive communication patterns among Gen Z while simultaneously creating communication barriers with older generations. The research recommends enhancing media literacy and adopting educational approaches to maximize benefits while mitigating the psychological risks associated with this phenomenon

Language is the main tool in the human communication process, both in the formal and informal realms. In a multilingual society, the use of language is often not limited to just one language, but involves more than one language in a single speech event. This condition gives birth to various linguistic phenomena, one of which is code switching and code mixing, which often appear in daily interactions.  Markaz Al Arabiyah Al-Ittifaqiah as an institution that emphasizes the use of Arabic in daily life becomes an interesting social space to observe this phenomenon. In the conversation of students, it is often found that the use of two or more languages alternately or simultaneously is found. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of code switching and code mixing in the conversations of female students at Markaz Al Arabiyah Al-Ittifaqiah Indralaya. This study uses a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation methods to identify forms of code switching and code mixing and the factors that influence them. The results of the study showed that the code switching that occurred in the Markaz Al Arabiyah environment was an external code transfer (Arabic, Indonesian, local language, and English), while the code mixing that occurred was in the form of the insertion of word elements, phrases, basters, repetitions of words, expressions, or inserts, as well as sentence levels into the main language (Arabic). Factors that affect the occurrence of code switching include: Speaker Factors, Communicator Factors, and Third-Party Factors. At the same time, code switching is influenced by the similarity of native language background, limited vocabulary, adaptation factors, and the habits and manners of the speaker. This phenomenon reflects the bilingualism of students in Arabic and is a challenge in the implementation of Arabic language policies in the educational environment. This research is expected to contribute to sociolinguistic development, especially in the context of Arabic language education in Indonesia

Lexical Choices as Affective Stance: Fans’ Responses to Eaj’s Activism on Twitter

    Get PDF
This study examines how fans of the singer and celebrity Eaj (known as Jars) express affective stance through their lexical choices in responses to his humanitarian activism on X (formerly Twitter). When Eaj publicly voiced support for Palestine and Sudan, fans engaged actively through replies and quote tweets, displaying emotional alignment, shared values, and moral support. Using a qualitative discourse analysis approach, the study combines Hyland’s (2005) stance model with Du Bois’s (2007) stance triangle to identify attitude markers, evaluative language, and relational positioning. Thirty-three fan responses were selected from two threads related to activism, focusing on expressions of admiration, gratitude, empathy, and solidarity. The analysis reveals that fans not only evaluate the issues raised by Eaj but also position themselves as supportive, morally engaged participants, aligning with both Eaj and other users in the discourse. These affective expressions reveal how digital fandom can construct collective emotional meaning and reinforce parasocial bonds in activism contexts. While limited in scope, the study highlights the usefulness of combining interpersonal stance theory with relational stance analysis to understand the emotional meaning-making process in online fandom. The findings contribute to growing discussions on digital fandom discourse, demonstrating how linguistic choices serve as tools for expressing attachment, advocacy, and shared humanitarian concern

    No full text
This research aims to determine and classify the forms of morphological, syntactic, and semantic errors resulting from AI Poe's translation in translating the translated text of the Al-Qur'an. By applying descriptive qualitative research methods and a literature study research design, this research will reveal the forms of translation errors. The data was obtained from the results of AI Poe's translation of the verses of the Koran that appeared in the book Exemplary Stories of Muslim Children by Maulana Ar-Rosyid. The analysis is conducted through three main steps: identifying linguistic errors, classifying errors based on morphological, syntactic, and semantic aspects, and analyzing and interpreting the errors about the limitations of AI Poe and the complexity of the text. The validity of the data is strengthened through source triangulation, which involves comparing it with Arabic dictionaries, linguistic theories, and expert opinions on translation. The research results concluded that AI Poe had significant limitations in translating the translated text of the Al-Qur'an from Indonesian to Arabic. Of all the data translated by AI Poe, 58% was indicated to contain errors. From the analysis of 21 existing text data, several linguistic errors were found spread across three main aspects: namely syntactic 34 errors (51%), semantic 25 errors (37%), and morphological eight errors (12%)
