    Arabic language instruction in tahfiz institutions often faces challenges, especially in motivating students to use Arabic for everyday interaction. Many students mainly focus on memorizing Qur’anic verses without connecting them to practical language use. This research aims to develop and implement a contextual Arabic learning model that uses memorized Qur’anic verses as the primary learning resource. The study involved seven second-grade middle school students at Ma’had As-Syahsiah Tahfiz Sains Malaysia and employed a cross-sectional design with pre-test and post-test assessments. Data were collected through observations, tests, and interviews to describe students’ progress in vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills. Univariate analysis was used to present changes in students’ abilities before and after the intervention. The results showed notable improvements in students’ oral and written expression following the application of the contextual Qur’an-based learning model. These findings indicate that linking Qur’anic memorization to contextual language use can enhance students’ linguistic competence and provide an innovative approach to Arabic education in tahfiz institutions and Islamic schools

    Komparasi Kurikulum Bahasa Arab di Masa Orde Baru dan Reformasi dalam Lintasan Sejarah

    This study aims to conduct an in-depth comparison of the orientation and focus of the Arabic Language Curriculum during the New Order and Reform eras, and to identify the implications of this paradigm shift. This study is a qualitative descriptive research that applies a historical study and library research approach, where data is collected through documentation and relevant curriculum literature. The gathered data is analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing stages.The results of this comparison reveal a fundamental difference in the curricular orientation between the two eras. The Arabic language curriculum during the New Order period (including the 1968, 1975, 1984, and 1994 curricula) was essentially focused on the theological-scientific aspect, or utilizing it as a receptive tool for understanding religious texts (the Qur'an and Hadith), with a primary emphasis on grammatical elements (nahwu-sharaf) through a partial approach. Conversely, the curriculum during the Reform era (covering the 2004 KBK, 2006 KTSP, 2013 K13, up to the current Independence Curriculum) reflects a sharp shift in focus to become more sociological-communicative and competency-based. The curriculum in this era demands mastery of comprehensive language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and aims functionally to meet the communication demands of the global society. This shift indicates that the Reform curriculum is more adaptive and provides greater room for the development of students' productive skills

    The purpose of this study is to describe the development of audio-visual learning media for istimā’ (Arabic Listening Skills) instruction at Pondok Modern Arrisalah, International Program, Ponorogo. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. The research data consist of activities related to the implementation and development of audio-visual learning media during istimā’ instruction in Class IV D of KMI (Kuliyyāt al-Mu’allimīn wa al-Mu’allimāt al-Islāmiyyah). Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the learning media used in Arabic language instruction in Class IV D of KMI include audio media, visual media, audio-visual media, as well as printed media sourced from textbooks and dictionaries; (2) the use of audio and visual media provides many benefits for students, including facilitating their understanding of lessons. Arabic learning materials delivered through audio-visual media are more strongly retained and more focused in students’ memory, and they help reduce boredom during the learning process; and (3) prior to implementing audio-visual media in instruction, teachers prepare by referring to learning objectives, identifying students’ abilities, preparing learning materials, ensuring the availability of facilities and infrastructure, mastering appropriate teaching methods, using learning media effectively, and conducting evaluations

    The purpose of this study is to describe how the campus environment shapes students’ Arabic communication skills. This study applies a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study conducted at the Arabic Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. Data collection was conducted through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and the data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity reinforced through source and method triangulation. The results showed that a campus environment that actively encourages the use of Arabic significantly improves students’ communicative skills, particularly fluency, confidence, and the courage to express opinions. Social interaction among students and support from lecturers and the academic community also strengthen functional and contextual language practice. However, this study also identified several obstacles, including inconsistent use of Arabic outside the classroom, limited space for continuous practice, and psychological factors among students. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen language policies and develop a campus ecosystem that consistently supports the use of Arabic to optimally and sustainably improve students’ communicative competence

    This study aims to analyse the contribution of the book Al-‘Arabiyah li An-Nāsyi’īn in developing the Reading skills of students at the Al-Arifin Denanyar Islamic Boarding School in Jombang. The study uses a qualitative case study approach. The primary data sources are from the book Al-‘Arabiyah li An-Nāsyi’īn, supported by curriculum documents, observations of the learning process, and interviews with teachers and students. Data collection techniques include literature study, non-participatory observation, and semi-structured interviews, while data analysis is conducted through content analysis. The results showed that the Al-‘Arabiyah li An-Nāsyi’īn textbook has a systematic and gradual content structure, in accordance with the principles of Arabic textbook development, and is relevant to linguistic, communicative, and cultural competencies. In addition, the teaching methods used are communicative and contextual, thereby supporting more meaningful Reading learning. The use of this book has a positive impact on text comprehension, strengthening Arabic literacy, fostering independent learning, and shaping the character of santri through Islamic values. Thus, Al-‘Arabiyah li An-Nāsyi’īn can be considered an effective textbook in supporting the development of maharatul qirā’ah santri in Islamic boarding schools

    Game Memoria sebagai Inovasi Digital Terapi Kognitif Pencegahan Demensia bagi Lansia: Studi Pengujian Prototipe Skala Industri

    The purpose of this article is to describe the results of memory game testing as a digital innovation of cognitive therapy in preventing dementia for the elderly. Dementia is a degenerative disease that attacks cognitive function in the elderly. Until now, no cure for the disease has been found; however, the risk and symptoms can be reduced through various therapies that stimulate and improve cognitive function. Smart games can be an effective tool for helping elderly individuals engage in cognitive and physical exercise. Games can stimulate the brain to prevent and slow the progression of dementia. The method used is Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR). The stages include the formation of partnerships, the implementation of collaborative and participatory research, and the dissemination of findings. The partnership was formed with the community of True Crossword Puzzle Lovers (Petition). The design of CBPR involved the elderly in Srengseng Sawah, the curator of TTS Kompas Book Publisher, game practitioners from PT Terminal Koding, and PT Karya Jasa Digital. In its implementation, the team identified elderly health problems, designed the TTS, sought expert validation for the TTS, developed the TTS in a digital game format, tested the feasibility of the games with industry practitioners, and disseminated the games to the public. The results of the usability test, based on ISO 9241-11, indicate a positive level, with usability criterion at 70%, application ease of use criterion at 76.8%, ease of learning the application at 78%, and user satisfaction at 80.4%. Testing was also conducted on the main users of the game, specifically older people and those over 50 years old. The results of this prototype test showed that 85% of older people reported being satisfied, with a 95% level of sensitivity to memory improvement. Thus, this Memoria game can be applied as an alternative medium for dementia prevention as well as a digital innovation for cognitive therapy.

    This study aims to analyze students' mathematical problem-solving abilities through an analogy approach with the aid of Wordwall media on the topic of plane figures at MI Al-Kautsar Durisawo. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach to describe the mathematical problem-solving abilities of fifth-grade students at MI Al-Kautsar Durisawo through an analogy approach with the aid of Wordwall media. Data were collected through tests, interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was maintained through triangulation of techniques and sources, as well as verification through member checks with students and teachers. The results showed that the analogy approach was effective in systematically improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. Wordwall media was proven to facilitate the visualization of abstract concepts, making learning more engaging, interactive, and increasing enthusiasm for learning. It showed by the students' test results, which showed an average score of 81.41. The test results showed that 15.63% were in the high category, 67.74% in the medium category, and 18.75% in the low category. High-ability students demonstrated strong understanding and critical thinking, while students with medium and low abilities still required additional guidance. Overall, this approach had a positive impact on class engagement, learning responses, and the development of students' thinking skills

    Islamic Religious Education (PAI) not only shapes students' faith but also plays a crucial role in instilling an attitude of tolerance in a pluralistic society. In Indonesia's multicultural context, instilling values ​​of tolerance from an early age is an urgent need given the increasing incidence of intolerance, including in educational settings. Studies on the integration of tolerance values ​​into PAI at the early childhood and primary education levels are still limited. Previous research has focused more on secondary and general education, while the role of PAI teachers as agents of religious moderation and the application of experiential learning in early childhood has not been comprehensively studied. This study aims to analyze strategies for integrating tolerance values ​​into PAI learning from early childhood to primary education. Using a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature studies, the discussion focuses on the integration of multicultural values ​​into the PAI curriculum, the role of teachers, and contextual learning methods in developing inclusive character. The results indicate that effective strategies include inclusive curriculum development, experiential learning, teacher role models, and school-family collaboration in fostering a culture of tolerance. Theoretically, this study contributes to formulating a conceptual framework for PAI-based tolerance education that combines multicultural perspectives and religious moderation. Practically, this research offers a learning strategy model that teachers can implement and can serve as a reference for developing a multicultural Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum. Thus, PAI, grounded in the principle of rahmatan lil 'alamin (blessing for the universe), has strategic potential in developing a generation capable of living harmoniously amidst diversity

    This study aims to examine educational methods in the hadiths of  Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and their relevance to modern education. Using a qualitative method based on library studies and content analysis, the research finds that the hadiths contain methods of  exemplary behavior, dialogue, motivation, storytelling, and  habituation. These methods have been proven relevant for character building and improving the quality of learning. The study concludes   that the educational approach in the hadiths is practical and can be effectively integrated into contemporary educational contexts

    Pendekatan Hermeneutika Kontekstual Dalam Tafsir Al-Qur’an: Kajian Kritis Terhadap Metodologi Fazlur Rahman Dan Abdullah Saeed

    The development of modern Qur’anic studies presents methodological challenges to the authority and interpretation of the Qur’an, thus requiring a scientific approach capable of integrating historical dimensions with contemporary contexts in a balanced manner. This research aims to analyze the concept of hermeneutics within Qur’anic studies and to examine its applicability through a contextual approach while maintaining the principles of Islamic epistemology. The study employs a library research method with a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach, involving a comparative analysis of the ideas of leading Qur’anic hermeneutic scholars such as Fazlur Rahman and Abdullah Saeed through primary and secondary sources. The findings indicate that hermeneutics can serve as a relevant interpretive tool in understanding modern social dynamics while enriching tafsir methodology without negating the authority of revelation. Its selective application—based on the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah) and the boundaries of definitive rulings (qat‘i)—offers contextual, humanistic, and responsive interpretations aligned with the needs of the Muslim community. In conclusion, hermeneutics can function as an alternative approach that strengthens the relevance of the Qur’an, provided that it is grounded in a solid Islamic epistemological framework and does not contradict the fundamental principles of Islamic teaching
