“Biar Gampang Urusannya”: Pergulatan Rekognisi Pernikahan Adat Suku Asli Anak Rawa, Riau, Indonesia: To Avoid the Hassle”: Customary Marriage Recognition Struggles of the Anak Rawa Tribe in Riau, Indonesia
The Indonesian Constitutional Court Decision No. 97/PUU-XIV/2016 has created a legal space for penghayat kepercayaan (adherents of indigenous beliefs) to register their identities in official population documents. However, the implementation of this recognition continues to face significant bureaucratic and social barriers. This study explores the struggle for legal recognition of customary marriages among the Anak Rawa indigenous community in Siak Regency, Riau. Employing a qualitative approach, the research draws on in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Findings reveal that despite normative legal recognition, implementation remains limited and fragmented at the local level. Many community members feel compelled to convert to state-recognized religions to gain access to civil rights, such as marriage certificates and birth registration for their children. Structural pressures, social stigma, and a legal-administrative system biased toward official religions undermine the ability of indigenous faith communities to preserve their identity. Key challenges include limited information dissemination, a lack of technical guidance for local civil registration officers, and weak institutional coordination. The study emphasizes the importance of a multi-sectoral approach that involves government institutions, civil society, and academia in promoting inclusive and sustainable legal recognition. Effective advocacy strategies include disseminating regulations, empowering communities, and engaging in interfaith dialogue to reduce social resistance. Ultimately, the legal recognition of customary marriage is not merely an issue of administrative formality, but a broader struggle for the cultural and civil rights of indigenous belief communities in Indonesia
Modeling Teacher Commitment by Preserving Local Wisdom and Strengthening Organizational Support
This study aims to examine how strengthening teachers' organizational commitment can be achieved through the preservation of local wisdom and the strengthening of organizational support. The main focus of this study is on permanent teachers at the SMP Sekolah Penggerak Foundation School located in Bogor Regency. Based on the sample calculation technique, the number of samples was set at 215 respondents. Path Analysis and SITOREM Analysis are combined research methods that combine Path Analysis with SITOREM Analysis to reinforce the results. The method used mix metode in this study is the POP-SDM (Organizational Development and Human Resource Management) method, which allows researchers to identify the factors that influence teacher commitment comprehensively. Primary data: Data obtained from questionnaires distributed to a number of teachers at private vocational high schools (SMK) in the Center of Excellence in Bogor Regency, West Java. Secondary data: Data obtained from the, which are accessible to the public. This study found that local wisdom, which includes the values and cultural practices that exist in the local community, plays an important role in increasing teachers' sense of responsibility and loyalty to the organization. In addition, strengthening organizational support, which consists of providing adequate facilities, recognizing teachers' contributions, and empowering them in the decision-making process, also strengthens their commitment to work more optimally. The results of this study provide important contributions to the development of educational policies that consider local and organizational contexts, as well as recommendations for school administrators and educational institutions to create a supportive work environment that values local wisdom. The uniqueness of this study lies in the use of the POP-SDM approach, which integrates local and organizational aspects to strengthen teacher commitment in schools in Bogor Regency
Integrating Multi-Madhhab Sufism in Pesantren Education
This study examines the integration of multi-madhhab Sufism within the educational systems of Pesantren Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukorejo and Pesantren Zainul Hasan Genggong in East Java, employing a qualitative multi-case descriptive approach. Although both institutions formally adhere to the Sufi madhhabs recognized by Nahdlatul Ulama, namely Al-Ghazali and Al-Junaidi, field findings reveal that they organically sustain four madhhabs simultaneously: Al-Ghazali, Al-Junaidi, Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani, and Abu Hasan Al-Shadzili. Al-Ghazali dominates the cognitive domain through classical text instruction, while Al-Jailani and Al-Shadzili thrive in the ritual dimension through daily devotional practices (wirid), hagiographic recitations (manaqib), and litanies (shalawat). Al-Junaidi persists as a normative symbol without direct textual implementation, indicating that epistemic legitimacy in pesantren relies not only on textual authority but also on the charismatic authority of the kiai and oral tradition. A key difference lies in their pedagogical orientation: Sukorejo adopts an academic-institutional approach emphasizing dzauq (spiritual experiential awareness), whereas Genggong favors a personal-practical model centered on riyadlah (inner spiritual discipline) and the master-disciple relationship. This integration emerges organically from the interplay of kiai authority, local tradition, and the need for character formation, thereby preserving Sufism's relevance as the core of spiritual education without compromising its epistemic authenticity
Teacher Strategies in Instilling the Values of Tolerance And Diversity in Islamic Elementary Schools
This study aims to analyze teacher strategies in instilling the values of tolerance and diversity at Sekolah Dasar Islam Multi Plus Ar-Rahiim, Kajangan, East Ungaran. In the context of Islamic elementary education, fostering tolerance and respect for differences serves as a fundamental foundation for developing students’ noble character, openness, and appreciation for social and cultural diversity within Indonesia’s multicultural society. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, five teachers, and five students, as well as through classroom observations and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that teachers implement several strategies to instill tolerance and diversity, including the integration of multicultural values into classroom learning, habituation through extracurricular and religious activities, and modeling exemplary behavior in daily interactions. Furthermore, the supportive school environment and active parental involvement play a crucial role in strengthening the internalization of tolerance among students. The study concludes that value-based multicultural education in Islamic elementary schools can serve as an effective medium for cultivating tolerant attitudes and a love for diversity from an early age. These findings are expected to serve as a model for developing character education grounded in multicultural values in other Islamic elementary schools
Analysis of the Refractive Thinking of Students in Decision Making on Open Problems in Mathematics
This study aims to describe students’ decision-making processes in solving open mathematical problems based on refractive thinking. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The participants were undergraduate students of the Mathematics Education Study Program at the State University of Malang, selected purposively based on decision-making style, domicile, and understanding of the problem context. Research instruments included validated open-ended problem sets based on graph theory and semi-structured interview guides. Data were collected through problem-solving tasks and in-depth interviews, and then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students experienced five stages of reflective thinking—perplexity, investigation, construction, evaluation, and decision—throughout the decision-making process. Students with a rational style demonstrated more systematic and consistent reasoning, while intuitive, dependent, and avoidant students tended to perform incomplete evaluations. These results highlight that refractive thinking plays a crucial role in forming logical and adaptive decisions. The study implies that open-ended, context-based mathematics learning can effectively enhance students’ higher-order thinking through reflective and evaluative reasoning. Future research should explore the development of instructional models and digital-based learning environments that systematically foster reflective thinking and decision-making skills across diverse cognitive styles and educational levels
Rethinking Institutional Identity in Religion-Based Schools: Policy Challenges from MDTA Jambi
This study examines the absence of institutional vision and policy in Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah (MDTA) in Jambi and analyzes its implications for institutional sustainability. This topic is important because MDTA operates under flexible and general regulations, making internal vision and policy crucial for ensuring organizational direction and long-term viability. The research aims to identify the factors contributing to the lack of vision and policy formulation and to assess their impact on the sustainability of MDTA institutions. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the principals of Madrasah Misbahussadah and Madrasah Raudatul Islamiyah in Jambi, and a document analysis of MDTA regulations issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as relevant literature. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study reveals three main findings. First, MDTA principals lack a comprehensive and formally documented institutional vision, while policies are largely based on personal experience rather than systematic planning. Second, the absence of vision is driven by limited awareness of its strategic importance, inadequate institutional resources and support, and the lack of training in vision and policy formulation. Third, this condition results in weak institutional direction, reduced attractiveness for qualified teachers, uncertainty in decision-making, and challenges to institutional sustainability. The study emphasizes the significance of structured vision development and policy-making in enhancing MDTA governance. Future research is encouraged to explore capacity-building models and policy interventions to support the sustainable management of religion-based educational institutions in Indonesia
The Role Of The Village Head As A Mediator For Land Dispute Resolution In Benteng Village, Talay Regency, Batubara Regency
This study examines the role of the Village Head as a mediator in resolving land disputes in Benteng Village, Talawi District, Batubara Regency. Using a normative juridical approach, the research analyzes legal norms, statutory regulations, and relevant doctrines to understand the scope of authority and effectiveness of village-level mediation. The findings show that the Village Head's authority to mediate disputes is mandated by Law No. 6 of 2014 on Villages, which obliges the Village Head to maintain social order and resolve community disputes peacefully. Mediation at the village level is generally more effective than litigation because it prioritizes kinship, customary values, and social proximity among residents. The Village Head plays a central role in facilitating deliberation, verifying ownership documents, and issuing administrative statements to support settlement outcomes. However, challenges persist, including limited facilities, insufficient budget allocations, low legal awareness among residents, and the lack of formal training or mediator certification for Village Heads. These constraints hinder the optimization of mediation practices. Therefore, the study emphasizes the importance of government support through training, regulatory enhancements, and institutional capacity building to enhance the effectiveness of village mediation and ensure justice at the grassroots level
Legal Protection in Construction and Transfer Cooperation Between Surakarta Revenue Agency and Bank Mandiri’s EPPSON Program
Local taxes are a vital source of revenue for Surakarta City, yet taxpayer compliance remains low due to payment procedures perceived as complex and inefficient. To address this issue, the Surakarta City Revenue Agency (Bapenda) implemented the Electronic Payment System Online (EPPSON) in collaboration with Bank Mandiri as part of its digital taxation and smart city initiative. This study examines the legal construction, regulatory framework, and legal protection of the cooperation agreement between Bapenda Surakarta and Bank Mandiri. Utilizing a normative empirical approach that incorporates legislative, socio-legal, and conceptual perspectives, the research examines both regulatory instruments and their practical implementation. The findings indicate that cooperation is structured through a non-cash local tax payment service under a Build, Transfer, and Operate (BTO) scheme, positioning Bank Mandiri as a strategic partner in fiscal digitalization. While EPPSON improves efficiency and accessibility, legal challenges persist, including contractual ambiguities, uneven data protection standards, and the absence of specific regional regulations governing digital tax payments. The program is legally grounded in Presidential Regulation No. 38 of 2015; however, strengthening derivative regulations and cybersecurity safeguards remains essential for its sustainability
Analysis Implementation The Appointment Village Officials From Siyasah Tanfidziyah Perspective In Gedung Jaya Village
This study aims to analyze the impact of the appointment mechanism for village officials that does not comply with Tulang Bawang Regent Regulation No. 10 of 2020 concerning Guidelines for the Appointment of Village Officials, with a focus on the case in Gedung Jaya Village, Rawa Pitu District, Tulang Bawang Regency. This field research uses observation, interviews, and documentation methods to identify the legal implications and community response to the village apparatus appointment process. Field findings indicate that procedural irregularities, including the absence of open selection and administrative transparency, have the potential to infringe upon community rights and undermine the stability of village governance. From a siyasah tanfidziyah perspective, this mechanism has essentially adopted the principles of musawah (equality), tolerance, freedom, justice ('adl), syura (consultation), and compliance with sharia law; however, its implementation has not been effective in creating optimal social harmony and justice. The results of this study emphasize the importance of enforcing regional regulations, increasing accountability, and strengthening the integration of siyasah tanfidziyah values in public administration to achieve a village governance system that is fair, stable, and in the best interests of the community
Taṭbīqu Ṭarīqah al-Istijābah al-Badaniyyah al-Kulliyyah fī Fahmi "Mufradāt al-Afʿāl" fī Mādati Tamrīn al-Lugah al-‘Arabiyyah li al-Șaff al-Awwal
The research aims to determine the influence of the Total Physical Response method on understanding the vocabulary of verb forms (af'al) in the Tamrin Lughah lessons for grade 1. This research was conducted at Darussalam Gontor for Girls campus 2. The Research methodology used in this study is a quantitative approach, specifically the experimental posttest-only control design. The population study in this research consisted of first-year students at the Islamic Teacher Training College. The sample employed simple random sampling and was divided into two groups: an experimental group of 55 students and a control group of 55 students. Data were collected through oral tests and written documents to gather student numbers, and data analysis methods, including the t-test, were used. The findings indicate that the t-value in the table corresponds to 1.98 at a 5% significance level and to 2.63 at a 1% significance level. The researcher determined that the calculated t-value is smaller than the t-value in the table: (1.98 > 1.28 < 2.63). Therefore, the hypothesis stating that there are no effects of the Total Physical Response method on understanding verb vocabulary in the first-year language practice material at the Darussalam Gontor Girls' Institute, Campus 2, is invalid. This suggests that teachers should pay more attention to students' language skills, and students should focus on teacher explanations during language lessons
