    No full text
This study aims to analyze the poem “رحلة جبلية، رحلة صعبة” by Fadwa Tuqan using Jacques Derrida's deconstruction approach within the framework of postmodern feminist theory. The data source in this research is the poem رحلة جبلية، رحلة صعبة  by Fadwa Tuqan. The data collection technique employed is a literature study, which involves gathering data from writings sourced from articles, academic journals, and other relevant texts supporting the research. The data analysis technique used is content analysis. The analysis results show that Tuqan successfully deconstructs the essentialist construction of female identity and represents the female subject as an active and dynamic agent. From a postmodern feminist perspective, this poem rejects a singular narrative of womanhood and affirms plurality, performativity, and symbolic resistance through poetic language. This study recommends the importance of employing contemporary critical theories such as deconstruction and postmodern feminism in reading modern Arabic literary texts, especially women’s writings, to uncover the political and transformative potential embedded within the aesthetics of language

The research used a descriptive methodology, utilising qualitative data consisting of 30 words, phrases, and sentences extracted from the book “Attitudes of Orientalists towards Islam” by the book's translators, KH Em Nadjib Hassan and Ma'mun Bahri. Analysis applied a tripartite framework: (1) Translation strategies, (2) Translation methods, (3) Translation ideology. This study reveals that the analysis of translation strategies identified a total of 14 approaches: specifically, borrowing, calque, literal translation, amplification, reduction, compensation, discursive invention, common equivalence, particularization, linguistic compression, elision, addition, shift, and modulation. Additionally, examining translation methodologies yielded four distinct approaches: literal, adaptation, free, and communicative. The two ideologies under investigation are the philosophies of foreignization and domestication. The research concludes that translators predominantly adopt the ideology of domestication, utilizing appropriate approaches and methodologies, with 22 data points representing 73% of the findings

Cawir Metua continues to exist as a symbol of Karo community identity and has also developed into a shared space for the multicultural community in Kabanjahe to maintain social harmony. The purposes of this study are: (1) to identify the funeral ritual process of Cawir Metua in Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency; (2) to analyze the existence of the Cawir Metua tradition among multicultural communities; and (3) to describe the opportunities and challenges in preserving the tradition in the era of globalization. This research employed a qualitative method with descriptive analysis techniques proposed by Miles and Huberman, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants consisted of: (1) the Karo ethnic community (as the main informant), (2–3) additional Karo informants, (4–5) Javanese informants, (6–7) Batak informants, and (8–9) Minangkabau informants. The existence of this tradition within a multicultural society demonstrates a dynamic of harmonious cultural interaction. However, its preservation faces significant challenges in the fast and practical era of globalization. Therefore, collaboration among local communities, the government, academics, and younger generations is essential to safeguard this cultural heritage in an adaptive yet authentic manner

    Get PDF
Diabetes mellitus (DM) represents a significant health challenge among elderly populations, characterized by chronic hyperglycemia requiring strict dietary management. Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni, a natural low-calorie sweetener, has emerged as a promising therapeutic adjunct for diabetes management. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of stevia consumption on glycemic control in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus through comprehensive literature synthesis. A literature review was conducted across multiple scientific databases (Emerald Insight, ProQuest, PubMed, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, and Google Scholar) covering publications from 2015-2025. Initial screening of 312 articles yielded 6 studies meeting inclusion criteria, focusing specifically on stevia utilization as a sugar substitute for elderly diabetic patients. Analysis revealed that stevia demonstrates superior glycemic control properties compared to conventional sweeteners, with sweetness intensity 100-300 times greater than sucrose while maintaining zero caloric content. Stevia represents an effective and safe natural sweetener alternative for elderly patients with diabetes mellitus. Its hypoglycemic properties, antioxidant effects, and absence of adverse effects position it as a valuable therapeutic tool for diabetes management. The findings support stevia's potential development as a nutraceutical supplement and its integration into dietary recommendations for elderly diabetic populations, contributing to improved quality of life and enhanced glycemic control
