The development of the modern era requires educational institutions to equip students with relevant life skills so that they are able to adapt to social dynamics. Entrepreneurship education has become one of the strategic approaches in fostering creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills. This study aims to examine the implementation of entrepreneurship education in extracurricular activities, efforts to strengthen students' life skills, as well as supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was strengthened through persistent observation. The results showed that entrepreneurship education was carried out every Thursday with the involvement of competent instructors despite the simple facilities. This program specifically helps develop students' independence, adaptability, and social skills through practice- and project-based learning. Strengthening efforts are carried out through potential development, creativity guidance, and the provision of challenges that stimulate students' problem-solving abilities. Supporting factors include the availability of basic facilities, the involvement of teachers according to their expertise, and student enthusiasm, while inhibiting factors include limited resources, limited time allocation and lack of expert mentors. This study contributes to providing an empirical overview of the effectiveness of extracurricular entrepreneurship activities in developing life skills, while also offering input for schools in strengthening programs through improved facilities, better time management, and the provision of professional mentor

Perspektif Al-Ghazali tentang Maslahah dan Profit dalam Konteks Produksi Modern

    Get PDF
This study examines Al-Ghazali's thoughts on the concepts of production, profit, and maslahah in Islamic economic ethics and their relevance to modern production practices that tend to be profit-oriented and industrialized. This study uses a qualitative approach based on library research by examining Al-Ghazali's primary works such as Ihya' Ulumuddin, Al-Mustashfa, and Mizan al-Amal as well as secondary sources in the form of Islamic economic journals and literature. The results show that Al-Ghazali places maslahah as the main principle in production activities, while profit is considered legitimate as long as it does not cause injustice or social and environmental damage. This thinking is relevant to addressing contemporary production challenges, especially in terms of sustainable ethics, worker welfare, and moral responsibility. This study contributes by offering a maslahah-based ethical framework to assess and direct modern production practices to be more just and oriented towards the welfare of the community

Kontroversi Hukum Bunga Bank: Analisis Fatwa Ulama dalam Ekonomi Islam

    Get PDF
Banking plays a strategic role as an intermediary institution in the economic system, particularly in mobilizing and distributing public funds. However, the implementation of an Interest-based system in conventional banking raises serious concems from the perspective of Islamic economics, as interest is considered to share substantial similarities with riba, which is explicitly prohibited in the Qur'an and Hadith. Differences of opinion among scholars, along with the dominance of conventional banking practices, make bank interest a persistent and widely debated contemporary issue. This study aims to analyze the concept of banking and bank interest from the perspective of Islamic economics and to examine scholarly views and fatwas regarding the legal status of bank Interest. Specifically, it focuses on identifying differences in emphasis among scholarly fatwas and contributes conceptually to contemporary Islamic economic discourse by clarifying the relationship between Sharia principles and modern banking practices. The research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach, drawing on data from the Qur'an, Hadith, classical and contemporary Qur'anic exegesis, fatwas issued by the Indonesian Council of Ulama, Nahdlatul Ulama, and the Muhammadiyah Tarjih Council, as well as relevant Islamic economics literature. The findings indicate that bank interest in conventional banking meets the criteria of riba al-nasiah, which is prohibited in Islam. Islamic banking emerges as an alternative that emphasizes profit-and-loss sharing, justice, and partnership. This study concludes that Islamic banking offers a financial system more consistent with Islamic law and oriented toward public welfare

Paradigm Shift in a Multilinguistic Context: Constructing National Identity and Socio-Religious Harmony in Cameroon Urban Music

    Get PDF
Cameroon, often described as "Africa in miniature," possesses a complex social fabric defined by over 250 ethnic groups and a dual colonial heritage of English and French. In this fragmented landscape, constructing a unified national identity has historically been challenged by linguistic and religious cleavages. This research explores the paradigm shift in Cameroon urban music, where the emergence of Franc-Anglais (Camfranglais) serves as a vehicle for national integration and socio-religious harmony. Using a qualitative sociolinguistic approach and the lens of multiculturalism, this study analyzes the lyrics of prominent urban artists such as Stanley Enow, Jovi, and Locko. The results indicate that while traditional genres like Makossa and Bikutsi are rooted in specific ethnic and religious identities, contemporary urban music transcends these boundaries. By blending official languages, indigenous dialects, and religious symbolism, urban music constructs a hybrid identity that resonates with the "vivre ensemble" (living together) national policy. The study concludes that urban music acts as a "secular liturgy" that facilitates inter-ethnic dialogue and promotes a collective sense of belonging amidst the ongoing Anglophone-Francophone crisis

Uncovering the Formula of Classical Javanese Literary Works: Structural Analysis of Power, Religion, and Subaltern Resistance

    Get PDF
Classical Javanese literature is traditionally defined by its profound synonymy with religious authority and the royal court (power), a duality long observed but structurally underexplained. This research utilizes a qualitative descriptive method, synthesizing existing studies of canonical texts—including Negarakertagama, Pararaton, Arjuna Wiwaha, and Sutasoma—to reveal the tripartite sociological formula determining literary inception. The analysis establishes that classical literature was overwhelmingly produced by eloquent individuals monopolizing broad knowledge, typically religious leaders, kings, and royal scribes. This structural control resulted from three interlocking factors: 1) Caste, wherein literacy and intellectual production were restricted primarily to Brahmins and Kshatriyas; 2) Knowledge, disseminated through the elite Kadewaguruan education system, which prioritized religious ethics before statecraft, functioning as an ideological apparatus to generate loyal state officials and authorized literary works; and 3) Culture, which utilized mythical elements (Smita) to glorify kings as divine incarnations, thereby legitimizing political narratives. The overarching function of this literature was to perpetuate power and spread sanctioned religious doctrine. While groups outside the palace provided resistance, notably through accessible oral literature and written counter-narratives like Serat Gatoloco, this opposition often failed to fundamentally displace the dominant hegemony. Drawing on Gayatri Spivak’s postcolonial perspective, the findings demonstrate that while resistance existed, the systemic control over authorship, knowledge, and dissemination ensured the literary output remained fundamentally focused on centralized religious and political control. This research clarifies that the enduring characteristics of Javanese classical texts are directly rooted in the political and educational policies of the past

Mapping the Intellectual Landscape of Islamic Modernity: A Bibliometric and Critical Discourse Analysis of Global Scholarship

    Get PDF
This research aims to explore the state of the art of Islamic modernity research using a VOSviewer bibliometric study. The research draws on the 5-year (2020-2025) SCOPUS database, utilizing the keyword "Islamic Modernity." The results were analyzed descriptively and put into a visualization. In each criterion, when possible, regional interpretations are presented to support further analysis. Afterwards, a cross-sectional critical discourse analysis is conducted heuristically. The findings indicate that the number of publications on "Islamic modernity" increases significantly from 2023 to 2024, and this trend continues into 2025. It also suggests that Islamic modernity discourse falls into two poles of intellectual motives: one, more epistemological in the form of theory construction, and the other, more political, as it pays more attention to political issues by scrutinizing the internal dynamics of Islamic society through a political interpretation. Thus, future research could contribute to critiquing the Eurocentric paradigm and foster epistemic justice in the global theory of knowledge

Sufi Ethics for the Digital Age: Developing Virtual Awareness, Moral Conduct, and Self-Control in Online Engagement

    Get PDF
Technology has become an inseparable part of human life, exerting a significant influence on patterns of living and social behavior. Social media often gives rise to various ethical and moral concerns, including a decline in self-awareness, weakened self-control, and erosion of moral values. Sufism and technology can be integrated to maintain a balance between digital advancement and the spiritual depth of human beings. This article examines the implementation of Sufi teachings in the digital era, focusing on three key aspects: the development of virtual awareness, ethical conduct in digital engagement, and the cultivation of self-control. The study employs a literature-based approach, utilizing descriptive-analytical analysis and drawing on primary and secondary sources, including classical Sufi texts, contemporary literature on digital ethics, and scholarly articles. Its epistemological position is prescriptive, as it not only describes ethical phenomena in the digital sphere but also formulates normative principles based on Sufi teachings to reinforce digital ethics. The findings indicate that Sufism offers a value-based foundation for addressing digital challenges. Virtual awareness can be cultivated through the practices of dhikr, muhasabah, and muraqabah, which position technology as a medium for drawing closer to God. Digital ethics from a Sufi perspective emphasizes the importance of politeness, honesty, and a focus on the public good in every online interaction. Meanwhile, self-control can be exercised through disciplined use of technology, avoidance of negative content, and restraint from excessive digital desires. The implementation of Sufism in the digital era can serve as an effective strategy for maintaining equilibrium between technological utilization and spiritual needs, while simultaneously contributing to the development of a morally refined society.

Disaster Communication and Institutional Coordination in Urban Flood Management: A Case Study of Medan City

    Get PDF
Flooding in Medan City has had extensive social, economic, and psychological impacts on local communities, affecting tens of thousands of residents through damage to property, infrastructure loss, and prolonged trauma. These recurrent floods are largely attributable to Medan’s geographical characteristics, particularly the presence of numerous active rivers that increase hydrometeorological vulnerability. Consequently, residents are required to coexist with disaster risks, placing the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) at the forefront of flood response and mitigation efforts. This study aims to examine BPBD Medan City’s flood management strategies, its communication and coordination practices during disaster response, and the key obstacles encountered in the disaster management process. Using a disaster communication perspective grounded in Haddow’s framework, this research focuses on five dimensions: audience focus, leadership commitment, situational awareness, the role of media, and disaster communication planning. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with nine key informants selected via purposive sampling, all of whom held strategic roles and had direct experience in flood disaster management. The data were analysed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, involving data reduction, thematic categorisation, interpretation, and verification. The findings reveal that BPBD Medan City continues to implement flood mitigation within a regional autonomy paradigm, resulting in the absence of a comprehensive and strategic approach to hydrometeorological flood management. Disaster coordination remains highly centralised, with strong sectoral egos persisting across institutions and creating significant coordination gaps. BPBD also faces structural constraints, inter-agency communication barriers, and complex community dynamics, including unresolved trauma among flood victims. This study concludes that effective disaster management in Medan City requires improvements in three key areas: systematic disaster communication planning, strengthened inter-institutional coordination, and enhanced citizen participation in disaster mitigation efforts

An Implementation Islamic Education Model to Build Tolerance and Prevent Radicalism at An Islamic Boarding School

    Get PDF
This study is motivated by increasing reports of intolerance and radicalism that often involve individuals with religious educational backgrounds, even though Islamic teachings fundamentally reject all forms of violence and terrorism. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is therefore expected to play a central role in shaping moderate, tolerant, and peace-loving attitudes among students, particularly within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), which are known for their strong religious traditions and moral education. The aim of this study is to develop PAI teaching materials in Islamic boarding schools that emphasize tolerance values and the prevention of radicalism. The research was conducted at Al Istiqomah Boarding School, Sindangsari, Kutawaluya, Karawang, using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The main participants were students, teachers, and Kyai. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the values of tolerance at Al Istiqomah Boarding School are internalized through PAI learning, teachers’ exemplary conduct, and religious activities that foster respect, cooperation, and appreciation for diversity. The study concludes that pesantren have a strategic role in strengthening character education based on tolerance and preventing the spread of radical ideologies among students

    Get PDF
This study aims to examine the influence of work–life balance and professional competence on the psychological well-being of elementary school teachers in Singorojo Subdistrict, Kendal Regency. The research employed a quantitative explanatory design using a survey method. The population consisted of 246 permanent elementary school teachers working in 35 public elementary schools. Using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error, a sample of 152 teachers was selected through proportionate stratified random sampling to ensure adequate representation from each school. Data were collected through validated Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression. The results show that: (1) work–life balance has a significant effect on psychological well-being (t = 13.593, p < 0.05) with a contribution of 55.2% (R² = 0.552); (2) professional competence significantly influences psychological well-being (t = 8.708, p < 0.05) with a contribution of 33.6% (R² = 0.336); and (3) both variables simultaneously have a significant effect on psychological well-being (F = 107.324, p < 0.05) with a combined contribution of 59% (R² = 0.590). These findings indicate that teachers’ psychological well-being is shaped by their ability to maintain work–life balance and by their level of professional competence. Strengthening these two aspects is essential for supporting teacher welfare and improving the quality of education, particularly in rural elementary school contexts
