Substantial Impact of Precipitants and Dispersant on the Structural and Optical Properties of CeO2 Nanoparticles
Cerium oxide nanoparticles are prepared by simple precipitation method with various precipitants. The prepared samples are analyzed by XRD, FT-IR and PL. XRD confirms the occurrence of single-phase polycrystalline cubic fluorite structure with dominant orientation along (111) direction. The sharp band at 1415 cm-1 originated from –CH3 deformation and –CH2 scissoring vibrations of PVP, also A strong band at 848 and 400 cm-1 due to the envelope of the phonon band of the metal oxide (Ce-O) network obtained from FT-IR spectra. PL spectra exhibit the presence of strong blue and weak blue-green emission in the visible region. Additions of PVP strongly distress the peaks intensity of the samples
SARS-CoV-2 Transmission Route in Wastewater and Possible Solutions
In the view of present SARS-CoV-2 pandemic a study on the presence of this novel virus in wastewater treatment facilities is proposed. Other coronavirus species are known to survive in wastewater for days to weeks. Present data also shows that SARS-CoV-2 can be present in waste product generated by infected humans. This generated waste can be source of this virus to wastewater stream and being an enveloped virus can survive for longer period, which can be aerosolized and act as secondary transmission source. Here we propose this pathway of transmission should be rigorously studied, especially in countries like India, where minimum hygiene and sanitation can be tough to achieve because of high population density. We further propose to look into different disinfection methods, which can be most useful to deactivate this lethal viru
A Study on Automated Micro Irrigation Using Soil Moisture Sensors
Micro irrigation is the modern method of irrigation. By this method water is irrigated through drippers, sprinklers, foggers and by other emitters on surface and sub surface of the land. Micro irrigation can be given by tubes and drippers which deliver water directly to the base of each plant or crop. Drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, bubbler irrigation and sub-surface irrigation are the different types of irrigation. Soil moisture is the key variable in controlling the exchange of water and heat energy between the land surface and atmosphere. Soil moisture sensor measures the volumetric water content in the soil. Automation in micro irrigation is a system by which all the operations related to supply of irrigation water or fertilizer to the crop are carried out automatically with minimum manual interventions using soil moisture sensors
A Cloud Based Android System for Reporting Crimes Against Child Sexual Abuse
A cloud based android system for reporting crimes against child sexual abuse is a real time cloud-based system to be used by people to report crimes concerning sexual abuse of children to relevant organizations. Usually, when crimes of this kind happen, the victims or witnesses go to the police, or call related organizations to report crimes. The crimes are then processed through a paper-based system where the cases are recorded and them handled accordingly. This approach is usually slow and in sometimes reads to dissatisfactions to the victims and relatives. With the wide spread of android phones, android system to report the crimes would make the crime management easier and faster as the crimes will be reported in real time using an android phone. Management of the cases will also be fast as the crimes will be directly reported to a cloud database which will make crime tracing and management faster. A global positioning system which is already implemented in all android phones will be used to track the location of the person reporting the crime. Firebase real time database will be used to store the data reported. All the users of the system will be authenticated to make sure they are not eligible to use the application and for privacy of user information. Thus, a cloud based android system will be beneficial to both the public and the acting organizations and there by improve measures to reduce sex crimes against children
The Spraying Technology on Iraqi Agricultural Researches
Many of the Iraqi agricultural researches are used spraying technique to add chemical products including pesticides and growth regulators. Various studies were performed to study the effect of these substances at different concentrations to improve plant production. In order to adopt specific criteria of spraying researches and to replicate them easily, it is a necessary to mention all information related to the spraying processes and regulations for improving sprayer’s performance by increasing the amount of pesticide deposited on the target. The current study aims to survey Iraqi researches in details and analyse them randomly. Also, to highlight on the importance of information applied in spraying techniques and its relationship with improving of agricultural production. The survey showed most of these researches does not mention sufficiently the basic information, especially in the spraying or calibrating processes. These processes are important to ensure the best distribution of spraying in the field depending on type of sprayer, nozzle type, and operating pressure. Also, some of these researches do not show the application rate of pesticide and the factors affected on it, which may lead to imbalance in homogenization of the pesticide distribution. This study recommended using a power sprayer to avoid the misapplication in droplets distribution in comparison with pack back sprayers, which have a complication in the operating pressure and nozzle height regulation. Another recommendation was a necessity to select the perfect nozzle type that agrees with the global publications
Contrasting mineralogy and strain partitioning across N-S oriented Sitampundi - Kanjamalai Shear in Sitampundi Anorthosite Layered Complex
Sitampundi Anorthosite Layered Complex (SALC) is a complexly folded and metamorphosed terrain that shows different metamorphic grade separated by a regional linear divide. In the north-eastern part of the complex, the anorthosites contain green-colored clinozoisites that are strikingly absent in the western part of the limb. Based on the presence of the clinozoisites, the entire SALC can be divided into two zones. The Sitampundi-Kanjamalai shear zone (SKSZ) separates mega crystals of clinozoite bearing anorthosites from clinozoisite free anorthosites. To add furthermore, strain analysis of different samples of anorthosite on either side of the zones was conducted by employing Flinn method. In general, anorthosites fall into the flattening field. The clinozoisite free anorthosites are more flattening and clinozoisite bearing anorthosites exhibit a slight difference in their strain ratio, ie., it is comparatively less flattening. Geochemistry of clinozoisites was studied using EPMA & XRD methods. The percentage of oxides obtained from EPMA coincides with that of epidote. But, XRD confirms the mineral to be clinozoisite indicating the transition phase of epidote to clinozoisite. Zoning has had occurred in clinozoisites with aluminium oxide rich core and FeO rich rim. This could be related to a retrogression corresponding to a shearing event
An Efficient Mining Approach for Handling Web Access Sequences
The World Wide Web (WWW) becomes an important source for collecting, storing, and sharing the information. Based on the users query the traditional web page search approximately retrieves the related link and some of the search engines are Alta, Vista, Google, etc. The process of web mining defines to determine the unknown and useful information from web data. Web mining contains the two approaches such as data-based approach and process-based approach. Now a day the data-based approach is the widely used approach. It is used to extract the knowledge from web data in the form of hyper link, and web log data. In this study, the modern technique is presented for mining web access utility-based tree construction under Modified Genetic Algorithm (MGA). MGA tree are newly created to deploy the tree construction. In the web access sequences tree construction for the most part relies upon internal and external utility values. The performance of the proposed technique provides an efficient Web access sequences for both static and incremental data. Furthermore, this research work is helpful for both forward references and backward references of web access sequences
Performance of Prototype Solar Tunnel Drier Developed by University of Hohenheim Under Local Environmental Conditions in Sri Lanka
The solar tunnel dryer developed by University of Hohenheim was studied under local environmental conditions in Sri Lanka to identify necessary improvements so that marketable dehydrated products could be produced. Batch trials were carried using jak fruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) and brinjal (Solanum melongena). Temperature, relative humidity and air flow rate during the trial period were recorded. Drying duration, physico-chemical and orgonoleptic parameters of the dehydrated products were determined. The dryer was found to be technically feasible and products are hygienically good compared to the open sun drying. Depending on bad weather conditions drying duration varied between 2- 3 days causing to produce organoleptically unacceptable dehydrated products. The reasons identified for unacceptable quality were the long dying periods and keeping the materials inside the drying compartment overnight without drying. Therefore, there is a necessity to shorten the drying period together with maintenance of a correct temperature inside the drying compartment during non solar hours to preserve the quality of dried products
IoT Based Patient Health Monitoring using ESP8266 and Arduino
Internet of Things is a technological paradigm which can be incorporated in real time patient monitoring system. The review and implementation of real time monitoring of patients using biomedical sensors and microcontroller is presented where physiological parameters like heart-rate, body temperature is measured. This IoT prototype could read the pulse rate and measure the body temperature updates them to things peak an IoT platform
Degradation of Methylene Blue Using Microplasma Discharge – A Relative Study with Photodegradation
Large-scale production and application of synthetic dyes have become a matter of concern as it is a major factor responsible for environmental pollution. Most dyeing effluents are discharged into water bodies and lands without being treated, which ultimately pollutes the groundwater making it unfit for consumption. The present study explains the degradation of one of such synthetic dyes Methylene blue (MB), using non-thermal Microplasma treatment. The aqueous solution of MB was treated with an array of air microplasma discharge at atmospheric pressure. Different concentrations (10 ppm, 20 ppm) of MB solution were treated for various treatment time and chemical parameters like pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids and salinity was measured. The degradation percentage reached 100% in 15 min of treatment for 10 ppm MB solution, and 20 min of treatment for 20 ppm MB solution indicated by the color change from blue to a clear solution. The reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) formed during the microplasma treatment are responsible for MB degradation. Same volume of MB solution was irradiated by direct sunlight for photodegradation and was found to degrade the solution of 10 ppm by 96% and 20 ppm by 93% in 10 hours of treatment. Experimental results indicated that microplasma treatment was effective for dye degradation, without the need for pretreatment process or chemicals
