Analysis of Social Care Character Development in Islamic Religious Education Courses
Get PDFThe development of an increasingly modern era, on the one hand, progresses in various aspects of human life, but on the other hand also brings to the character and identity of the Indonesian nation, the waning of a sense of caring and social solidarity. Now egocentrism in the pattern of social relations in Indonesian society is increasingly visible, namely behavior that focuses on one's own welfare or gain at the expense of and at the expense of others. The development of social care characters must continue to be carried out, especially now that people's lives are increasingly difficult, the poverty gap is widening, and the crime rate is getting higher. Judging from the religious aspect, the attitude of social care will get 3 things, namely first, the road of sustenance becomes wide and open; second, being more sensitive to the life around us; third, get a reward. This study is a descriptive study to see the extent to which the development of social care characters in PAI courses. The data collection technique is using a questionnaire. The research was conducted in several departments at Medan State University in the even semester of the 2021-2022 Academic Year. This study resulted in the following findings: 1. the development of social care characters in PAI courses has only reached aspects of knowledge (cognitive) and attitudes (attitudes). This can be seen from the development of social care characters in both aspects which are already in the good category. 2. The development of social care characters from the behavioral aspect (behavior) in PAI courses is still in the poor category, for that it is necessary to design various social action tasks in the community that are carried out by students so that they will get a very meaningful experience
The Implementation of National Curriculum 2013 and International Baccalaureate (Study at Sampoerna Academy Medan)
Get PDFThis study aims to determine the implementation of National Curriculum 2013 and the International Baccalaureate curriculum and to compare student learning outcomes, especially in the field of Indonesian language studies at Sampoerna Academy Medan. The results shows that there are differences in learning outcomes in the field of Indonesian language studies using National Curriculum 2013 and the International Baccalaureate. The difference in the level of ability of students in the field of Indonesian language studies is indicated by the average learning outcomes of Indonesian language studies with National Curriculum 2013 which is lower than the International Baccalaureate curriculum. The findings of this study indicate that the use of both National Curriculum 2013and the International Baccalaureate has an impact on student learning outcomes at Sampoerna Academy Medan. This difference is due to differences in assessment standards, learning activities, communication both oral and written as well as the values of cultural and character development of each curriculum applied in schools.  
An Investigation of Philosophical Thoughts in Ghani Khan Poems
Get PDFGhani Khan who lived from 1914-1996 is considered as one of the influential poets in Pashto literature who could speak five languages. He was a drawer and politian as well. We can imply from Ghani Khan’s several poems that he has discussed about philosophy. Ghani Khan has a passion to discuss about philosophical conceptions which philosophy talks about such as death, rationality, social values, individual freedom, and other topics. He has shown compromise to some of the Western and Eastern philosophical values hence evident from discussing in his poems. Specifically, there are signs of Western Existentialism and Eastern Sufi Metaphysics in his poetry. However, there is a contradiction in his and those of other philosophical views. Ghani views all those philosophical views according to his own view while different from those of other philosophers. For instance, believers of existentialism view life as sorrow, fright, and Nihilism whereas for Ghani Khan life is itself a joy and what he can do and should do is to spend a pleasant time. He depends everything in the universe on his lord Allah. The most important part of his view is that he considers life as a blessing from the lord thus trying to lessen the human fear from death. Consequently, most of his poetry is for the betterment of humans and establishing good relationships between them
Utlilizing ICT in English Language Teaching and Learning from the Perspective of Afghan EFL Tearchers
Get PDFThis study researched to determine Afghanistan public universities teachers’ perceptions and challenges towards ICT utilization in teaching and learning the English language. The study used a quantitative design to collect data from 50 Afghanistan public universities’ teachers through a questionnaire which was analysed through descriptive statistics (percentage, mean, standard deviation and frequency). The results of the study indicated that Afghanistan public universities teachers’ perceptions were positive towards ICT utilization in teaching and learning of the English language in spite of some major, mild and minor challenges which preclude them from using ICT in teaching. The study suggested that further research should be conducted to find out the perceptions and challenges of both private and public universities’ teachers towards ICT use in teaching and learning the English language. Finally, the finding of this study is significant for MOHE, MOE, and MOICT to integrate a successful ICT system in Afghanistan, especially in educational institutions
The Effect of Crossword Puzzle on Developing Students’ Vocabulary at Seven Grade of SMP Pangeran Antasari Medan
Get PDFThe researchers’ aim for this research was to determine the significance of using crossword puzzles in developing students' vocabulary at Pangeran Antasari Medan's seventh grade. The quantitative design was used in this study. This study's population consisted of 50 students. Furthermore, the researchers used 50 students as a sample and divided them into two different groups, experimental and control groups. The study's instrument was a fill-in-the-blanks (Pre-test and Post-test) or crossword puzzle. Based on the clarification over, the author analyzed the score utilizing the T-test equation, and the result was T-observed was 2.92 and t-table was 1,684, indicating that T-observed was more prominent than T-table. At the critical level, p= 0.05 and df= nx=ny-2 = 48. This implies that Crossword Puzzle Strategy features a noteworthy affect on students' learning
Coping Styles among College Students During COVID-19 Pandemic

It includes cognitive and behavioral efforts used by an individual to solve problems and reduce stress caused by these problems. This paper explores the coping styles among college students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The researchers utilized a descriptive-quantitative research design to identify the coping styles used by BSED students in the new normal due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The respondents were 101 BSED English Students from the second year to the fourth year. The survey questionnaire was used as a data-gathering instrument in the quantitative approach. Based on the findings of the study, the coping styles are moderately used by the BSED students. This means the students practiced coping styles sometimes during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it indicated that students' most popular coping styles, such as seeking social support and avoidance, followed by mental disengagement and humanitarian. The study was anchored on the theory of Lazarus and Folkman (1984), which stated that a person's conscious and unconscious efforts solve problems and relieve stress. To help students cope with the stress of the pandemic and build resiliency, the school should offer stress management workshops and webinars. The students require assistance from the school. These stress management training sessions aim to recognize common emotions and issues associated with the ongoing pandemic
