Creating Social Harmony With the Bissu Community in Tiba Sebelum Berangkat Novel by Faisal Oddang and Calabai Novel by Pepi Al-Bayqunie
Get PDFResearch about the Bissu community has been carried out in various writings and forms. Research that related to the existence, role, and gender of Bissu has been done by Muh. Saidi with the title Peran Bissu Dalam Masyarakat Bugis in 2016, while research that related to social harmony has been done by Rayi Oktafiani Utomo with the title Telaah Nilai Toleransi Dalam Novel Karya Ahmad Tohari in 2020. This study was aimed to discussed about Bissu's social harmony in Tiba Sebelum Berangkat Novel by Faisal Oddang and Calabai novel by Pepi Al-Bayqunie so that quotes, dialogues, monologues, and discourses that contained in the both novel would be primary data sources meanwhile the literature also reliable sources from the internet would be the secondary data in this research. This research was descriptive qualitative. Qualitative descriptive was done by combining the overall content analysis and interpretation in the form of a description, then the tools to analysis the data was sociology of literature. Social harmony and the role of the Bissu as local culture preservers are part of the social process, so it would be appropriate to use the theory of the sociology of literature. This research then focuses on how the Bissu community utilizes ancient religious teachings, magic, and their role as leaders of the ancient Bugis religion to create social harmony. Thus, this research will produce additional treasures in the form of writings on identity and social harmony that are carried out uniquely by the Bissu community
The Role of the Family in Online Learning on Students' Motivation, Interest and Learning Achievement
Get PDFThis research was motivated by conditions of achievement and the need to learn during dare, the lack of support and motivation given by parents during dare learning made students bored and bored when completing the assignments given by the teacher. Families have differences in viewing education based on the principles they adhere to. The role of parents, apart from raising them, is also to educate and accompany children in any matter, one of which is in dare learning, in dare learning parents act as teachers, facilitators, motivators and directors. The aim of this research is to reveal children's learning conditions and interests, the role of the family as facilitator, motivator and director while studying from home. This type of research uses qualitative research, namely descriptive analysis, where this research uses research full of theory and expert analysis. The data analyzed are the results of interviews, observations and documents using photographic evidence. The data analysis stages carried out were data reduction, data presentation, conclusions and data verification. The subjects of this research were 8 informants, 6 main informants and 2 supporting informants. The results of the research show that the condition of learning achievement is influenced by children's interest in learning, and the role of parents is based on the principles adopted by each family, parents do not fully play a direct role in guiding children in bold learning, as long as bold learning achievement is carried out by teachers and parents work together to determine the abilities and development of students' learning achievements, and based on the grades obtained by students, they are not in accordance with their supposed abilities, where children's learning achievements depend on the role of parents in them, so the role of parents who have ethnic differences greatly influences interest and children's learning achievements in determining children's learning success in learning that is carried out boldly

Improvisation and Radical Objectivization Identities in Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber: A Lacanian Reading
Get PDFThis research applies Lacanian psychoanalysis to scrutinize the use of improvisation and radical objectivization in Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber. Drawing on Lacan's theory of the "mirror stage," the work argues that Carter's use of these literary techniques disrupts the reader's sense of identity and challenges their preconceived notions of self and other. Through close analysis of key passages from the text, the research demonstrates how Carter's use of these techniques creates a sense of alienation and fragmentation in the reader, as they are forced to confront the unsettling and often disturbing aspects of the stories. The work also explores how Lacan's concept of the "phallus" is invoked in Carter's work, as she challenges traditional gender roles and subverts the dominant male gaze through the use of powerful female protagonists. Further, it maintains that Carter's use of these techniques, offers a powerful critique of patriarchal norms and invites the reader to engage with the complex and often contradictory nature of identity and desire. Through a comprehensive analysis of Susan’s narrative, the paper delves into the dual interpretations of her (un)reliability and argues that Coetzee intentionally crafts her as an elusive unreliable narrator. Then this article examines the “re-deconstruction” achieved by Coetzee, which challenges traditional storytelling conventions and emphasises the underlying meaning conveyed by a story. It also tries to explore Coetzee’s philosophical contemplations of existence and contends that aligning with Sartre’s existential thinking, Coetzee discusses many concepts around freedom and existence. The Performance of Cadre in Non-Communicable Disease Integrated Coaching Center in Medan City 2023
Get PDFThe aim of this research is to determine the factors that influence the performance of Posbindu Cadres for Non-Communicable Diseases in Medan City in 2023. This type of research is quantitative research with a cross sectional study design. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with a sample size of 88 respondents. The results of the research show that the variables that are related are income (p=0.016) and cadre motivation (p=0.011) with the performance of cadres at the Integrated Development Post for Non-Communicable Diseases (Posbindu PTM) in Medan City in 2023. The suggestion for this research is that cadres are always more active in increase responsibility in carrying out Posbindu activities so that the existing programs at Posbindu can be achieved and the Puskesmas is expected to increase the motivation and work ability of cadres in carrying out Posbindu activities in order to increase the activity of Posbindu cadres by providing training about Posbindu programs and activities to cadres on an ongoing basis
Improving Fluent Reading Skills in Learning English Using the Demonstration Method for Grade III Students at Talitakum Private Elementary School
Get PDFThis study aims to improve the ability to read fluently in learning English, especially aspects of reading skills using the demonstration method for third grade students at Talitakum Private Elementary School. This type of research is pre-experimental research which only involves one class and is carried out in 2 meetings. Experimental units are conducted total sample which involved all grade III students. The results showed that: (1) student learning outcomes before being given treatment based on an average score reaching 33.3% were in the low category. Being in the high category, this can be concluded after being given treatment and obtaining a score of 83.3%. (2) Then, a figure of 76.9% is obtained for the average student involvement, which shows that students are active in their education. (3) The use of the demonstration model in this class is approved; this is shown by the positive response of students of 77.2%. Furthermore, it was found that the calculated t value was 4.5 with a frequency (df) of 22-1=21, this shows a significance level of 5%. This is in accordance with the t test procedure for carrying out inferential statistical analysis, as shown in t table 2. The null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Hi) is accepted because t count > t table at the 5% significance level. Talitakum Private Elementary School has an increasing influence on the ability to read fluently in learning English using the demonstration method
Learning Tool Project to Create PBL Model to Stimulate Computational Thinking Ability of Students
Get PDFThe aim of this research is to analyze the validity of learning tools developed by applying the PBL model to improve students' computational thinking skills at SMP Negeri 37 Medan and to analyze the effectiveness of learning tools developed by applying the PBL model to improve students' computational thinking skills at SMP Negeri 37 Medan. This research uses research and development (R&D) methods. The results show that in trial I, the posttest results of students' computational thinking abilities were obtained, namely, 11 students (36.7%) got the poor category, 11 students (36.7%) got the sufficient category, 8 students (26%) got the good category. .6%), and no students obtained the very good category. In trial II, there were no students who got the poor category (0%), 8 students got the sufficient category (26.7%), 8 students got the good category (26.7%), and there were 8 students who got the good category (26.7%). 26.7%), who received the very good category were 14 students (46.6%). So, it could be concluded that the learning tools developed by applying the PBL model to improve students' computational thinking skills at SMP Negeri 37 Medan are valid. Creating Animation as Audiovisual Media Learning to Improve Motivation and Social Subject Outcome of 5th grade of Elementary School at SD Negeri 067245 Medan Selayang
Get PDFThis research aims to determine the feasibility, practicality and effectiveness of audiovisual media in the form of animation for class IV students at SD Negeri 067245 Medan Selayang. The research model used is research and development (R&D) using Thiagarajan's 4D design. The research subjects were 54 material and media expert validators, teachers and class IV students, each consisting of 27 students in the experimental class and 27 students in the control class. Based on research findings, validation results by material experts were 87%, media experts 88% and were included in the valid (feasible) category. Furthermore, the practicality results obtained from the teacher questionnaire results were 87.5% in the "Very Practical" category and student responses obtained a percentage of 90% in the "Very Practical" category. It can be concluded that the media developed is practical to use. The pretest score in the experimental class showed an average result of 63 and the posttest score showed an average result of 91, N-Gain 0.8. With the "High" criterion, obtained a value of 0.000 in the t test where Sig <0.05 so it was stated that there was a significant difference Between the learning results in the experimental class and the control class, that audiovisual learning media in the form of animation is very feasible, practical and effective for use in learning and effective in increasing student motivation and learning outcomes
Cultural Riddles and Performance in Modern African Societies
Get PDFSeveral forms of performance arts are underutilized for in the past few decades and the Urhobo riddles are not left out. This paper therefore examines various methods of preservation and transfer of riddles in traditional society. This study adopted the survey-descriptive approach as the data and information were collected from natural environment and analysed. It is underpinned by Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory that focuses on the unconscious mind of people as the storehouse of latent materials which can be activated and brought to the conscious awareness. The information were collected with sound recordings which were afterward deciphered and deciphered from the Urhobo dialect into the English adaptation. In-depth interviews were also conducted to obtained first-hand information from respondents. The respondents were purposively selected and interviewed. The data collected in the field were qualitatively analyzed using descriptive and analytical methods. Findings reveal that riddles perform utilitarian functions like entertainment, education, knowledge transfer, coping and distractive strategies and so on. These linguistic resources should be preserved and documented due to their cultural values. Though there are problems hindering the growth of the riddles in contemporary societies, orators have devised the use of popular music as new way of preservation and transferring of oral traditions like the riddles from going into extinction
