The curonian social elite in the 10th to 13th c.: aspects of Its formation and change;.
Scientific work, which analizes aspects of the Curonian social elite formation and change in the 10th to 13th century. The paper discusses the characteristics of separate groups of the Curonian social elite - merchants and mostly professional soldiers, in the context of historical and archaeological sources. The influence of Scandinavian Viking culture on the formation of the Curonian social elite and the impact of Scandinavian Chistianization on the further development of the Curonian elite are analyzed. Eastern cultural influence on the Curonian elite (professional soldiers) is touched upon. The last part of the work analyzes the influence of German colonists on the cultural decline of the Curonians, the polarization of the Curonian society in the 13th century, the further development of the Curonian elite in the area of influence of the Order, others in Lithuania. The work relies heavily on data from written sources (Scandinavian sagas, chronicles, etc.), comparing the data with archaeological information;
Metaphorical somatonyms of northern samogitians: artefactual motivational model.
The article presents the analysis of the onomasiological structure of the metaphorical somatonyms of Northern Samogitians, focusing on the indicators of the source of metaphors. Based on the explicit semantics of the source (lexical motivators), the metaphorical somatonyms of Northern Samogitians belong to several motivational models, the most productive of which is the artefactual motivational model. The basis of the artefactual metaphor is the associative similarity of the object (artefact) and the body part according to various parameters – shape, size, features of structure and materiality, actions, especially repetitive movements
The changes of university students cademic motivation over time: the relationship with academic achievement, satisfaction with studies and psychological well-being.
One of the most important psychological factors related to the success of studies is the students’ academic motivation. This study examined one-year changes in academic motivation, students’ satisfaction, and psychological well-being. Three hypotheses formulated: (1) Students’ motivation will decrease over the year, but it will be possible to distinguish the groups of students that will have different changes of motivation. (2) The decrease in intrinsic motivation will be associated with lower academic achievement and lower satisfaction with studies. (3) The decrease in intrinsic motivation will be associated with lower psychological well-being. The first measurement performed during the spring semester, the second performed 12 ± 1 months later. 232 fully completed two-measurement questionnaires were selected for the analysis. The sample included 52 men and 180 women. The Student Academic Motivation Scale (SAMS-21) was used to assess academic motivation, and the Lithuanian Psychological Well-being Scale for Young People (LPGS-J) was used to measure psychological well-being. It was found that during one-year academic motivation decreased and it showed very large individual differences. Changes in academic motivation, students’ satisfaction, and psychological well-being are interrelated, and changes in motivation allow one to predict study satisfaction and psychological well-being. This paper is focused on the Bayes approach to multiextremal optimization problems, based on modelling the objective function by Gaussian random field (GRF) and using the Euclidean distance matrices with fractional degrees for presenting GRF covariances. A recursive optimization algorithm has been developed aimed at maximizing the expected improvement of the objective function at each step, using the results of the optimization steps already performed. Conditional mean and conditional variance expressions, derived by modelling GRF with covariances expressed by fractional Euclidean distance matrices, are used to calculate the expected improvement in the objective function. The efficiency of the developed algorithm was investigated by computer modelling, solving the test tasks, and comparing the developed algorithm with the known heuristic multi-extremal optimization algorithms
Stereotypical characteristics of Jews in Žemaitijan dialect texts.
Before the mid-20th century, the Jews in Žemaitija were the most numerous and economically and culturally significant minority, with close contacts with the Žemaitijans. The paper focuses on the stereotypical characteristics of Jews as reflected in Žemaitijan dialect texts from an ethnolinguistic point of view. The analysis of these characteristics provides knowledge about the evaluated nation from the perspective of the evaluating nation. The research into stereotypical images of Jews rests on the view that they consist of a specific set of certain common characteristics and traits, and an analysis of linguistic expression provides more detailed information about them. The research has revealed that the ethnic stereotype of Jewish people in Žemaitijan dialect texts is quite positive

The second half of the 20th century brought to light the consequences of human activity, when Humanity was confronted with demiurgical complexes and realized that the planet Earth was not only nature, but a complex system that today could no longer be operated by traditional methods and logic. While until the middle of the 20th century man used natural resources only to meet his needs, the 21st century poses new challenges for mankind to manage the consequences of human activities and to use them rationally and sustainably. The paper presents a study aimed at assessing the potential of ecosystem services development in the Nemunas Delta and anticipating their development directions. As a result of the research, the possible development directions of the Elderships were presented. It was done in two scenarios
Quality of services provided by primary health care center.
The quality of services provided by the primary health care centers is analysed in the master's thesis. The aim of the research is to provide recommendations for improving the quality of services after analysing the theories of health care services quality center from the point of view of patients and service providers and comparing the quality of services provided by a primary health care center. To achieve the goal, the analysis of scientific literature, summaries, questionnaire survey of patients and service providers and other methods of statistical data processing were used. The analysis of the scientific literature revealed that a high-quality health care service defines the client's satisfaction with the provided service and the satisfaction of his needs and expectations. The study of service quality assessment from the point of view of patients and employees, as well as the evaluation of the obtained results, found that the health care services provided by the institution are of high quality and meet the needs and expectations of both consumers and providers. Summarizing the obtained research results, which formed the preconditions for identifying the existing shortcomings of the medical institution, the directions of service improvement were identified and presented
Experimental design of Al2O3/MWCNT/HDPE hybrid nanocomposites for hip joint replacement /
Fracture in the hip joint is a major and quite common health issue, particularly for the elderly. The loads exploited by the lower limbs are very acute and severe; in the femur, they can be several folds higher than the whole weight of the body. Nanotechnology and nanocomposites offer great potential in biomedical applications. The organic materials are more biocompatible. Mechanical properties like strength and hardness are challenging parameters which control the selection of a joint. HDPE in its pure form has been successfully used as a prosthetic foot (external) but failed as an implant material due to limited mechanical properties. High-density polyethylene thermoplastic polymer (HDPE) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT)/Nano-Alumina is selected as a potential material for a biomedical implant and its mechanical properties and biocompatibility have been discussed. HDPE/MWCNT/Alumina (Al2O3) nanocomposites have not been explored yet for prosthetic implants. These nanocomposites were prepared in this investigation in different compositions. Prepared material has been physiochemically characterized to check the morphology and the structure. MWCNTs enhanced hardness and elastic modulus of the HDPE. Optimization of the material composition revealed that hybrid composite with structure (2.4% Al2O3 and 0.6% MWCNT) exhibits better mechanical properties compared to other ratios with 3% MWCNTs and 5% MWCNTs. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) dedicates that the percentage of crystallization has been increased to 6% after adding MWCNT to HDPE. The moisture absorption decreased to 90% with 5% MWCNT. Experimental results of Colorimetric assay (MTT) of a normal human epithelial cell line (1- BJ1) over Al2O3/MWCNT@HDPE showed <20% cytotoxic activity, proving its acceptance for medical use.
