Social work with a family caring for an adult with a complex disability: a discourse of inner harmony.
Today, adults with disabilities make up 9% of the total population. About 32 686 people with disabilities need constant care. The authors note that in order to improve the integration of people with disabilities in society, it is necessary to take strategic goals by improving the accessibility of social services through the provision of community services in society. According to "the Activity Report of the Departament for the Affairs of the Disabled under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour for 2020" (2021), a total of 20 315 adults with disabilities and only 1 969 family members received various services during various projects. The need for help for families remains relevant, as confirmed by research conducted by B. Kreivinienė and J. Perttula (2011) and other researchers, which revealed that parents' opinion about state support for families raising people with disabilities is negative, because for such families with difficulties, state aid is insufficient. Analyzing the internal coherence of the family, the researchers state that the changes affecting the internal coherence of the family are determined by the birth of a child with a disability, his care, social exclusion, stress. Authors J. Ruškaus (2002), A. Petrauskienė, V. Kudarauskienė (2019) emphasize the need for family support aimed at improving the psycho-emotional health of parents. The role of the social worker is highlighted in the provision of family support. The results of the research conducted by the researchers revealed that support for the family from specialists is more important than from friends or relatives. Object of the research. Social work with a family caring for an adult with a complex disability: a discourse of inner harmony. The aim of the research - to find out the discourse of inner harmony of families looking after an adult with a complex disability. Research objectives: 1. To discuss the possibilities of institutional assistance for people with disabilities in today's perspective. 2. Analyze social work with a family caring for an adult with a complex disability through a discourse of inner harmony; 3. To find out the discourse of inner harmony of families looking after an adult with a complex disability. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature, qualitative research with semi-structured interview method, qualitative content analysis. Research results. The results of the qualitative research after analyzing the interview data revealed that the internal harmony of the family was influenced by the birth of a child with a disability, preliminary diagnosis, change of residence in order to socialize a child with a disability, parental divorce, incompetent behavior of medical staff. Parents caring for a child with a disability experienced social exclusion, lacked social support from relatives, and experienced financial difficulties. The study revealed that no social services were offered to parents because there was no social worker at the time the child with a disability was born. The internal harmony of the family was influenced by limited financial opportunities, negative public attitude, and lack of specialized educational institutions. The main support for the family was provided by providing medical assistance in consultation with a neurologist. The main sources of help are the efforts of the caregivers themselves and the desire to help the child with a disability. Sacrifice, taking on the main role in the care of a child, suppressing feelings, giving up ones needs, disagreements in the family, based on various authors and research, are the main reasons for the impact of stress experienced by carers on inner harmony. The results of the research show that the assistance of a social worker as a specialist was started after the establishment of a day centre. Depending on the child's age, family members started using the services of day centres after learning about them from medical staff and educators working in educational institutions. Today, adults with disabilities strengthen their social and work skills with the help of a social worker. Respondents identify a social worker as an opportunity to help the family. However, more than half of respondents today still feel feelings of commitment, guilt, fear, anxiety. The results of the study revealed that nowadays families lack social support, the possibilities of help for the family remain limited, which is confirmed by the results obtained during the study. One in eight respondents received a call from a social worker from a medical institution to find out if a person needed any help. The participants of the study singled out the temporary respite service as a possibility, which is relevant for more than half of the respondents today. The results of the study revealed that families born with a child with a disability faced similar problems with caring for a child with a disability in childhood. The problems were related to the availability of services, medical care. The current situation in the opinion of the respondents has changed, but the consequences of stress in the respondents' experiences are still being felt. Today, when providing social services to the state, parents use social day and short-term social care services up to 5 days a week. The results of the study revealed that today parents have the opportunity to work, to partially meet their needs. Respondents’ stories revealed that parents experience stress, despair, fear for the continued health of the person being cared for and anxiety. Caregivers are worried about the future of the person with a disability. Caring for an adult with a complex disability requires daily care, which has become a daily routine for parents. The basic needs of the family are associated with rest, socialization in society, but the needs of the care recipient are a priority in some of the respondents' stories. When it comes to family needs, dreams always go back to caring for an adult with a disability. Feelings of guilt, worry, anxiety are noticeable in the parents’ stories. Three of the eight respondents named that the stress they experienced affected their psycho-emotional health. The parents’ narratives reflect the main existential crisis currently being experienced, which manifests itself in fears about the future of the care recipient with a complex disability
Experiences and challenges of anti-corruption programming in Klaipėda county municipal administration: comparative analysis.
The aim of the thesis is to reveal the aspects of developing and implementing anti-corruption programming in the context of local self-government. After reviewing the scientific literature, it can be stated that anti-corruption programming in the activities of local self-government is relevant, as it is a complex corruption prevention measure aimed at combating corruption in a targeted and coordinated manner by ensuring the provisions of legal acts and providing a clear procedure for the implementation of the goals, objectives and measures; however, there is a lack of systematic, objective and comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of anti-corruption programmes and research in the scientific discourse. The analysis of the implementation of anti-corruption programmes in Lithuanian municipalities has shown that municipalities lack a broader and comprehensive approach to the development and implementation of corruption prevention programmes - often the programmes are developed declaratively, according to templates, without paying more attention to the analysis of the existing situation, the envisaged measures are applied in a rather fragmented, unsystematic and superficial manner, and the objectives and their evaluation criteria set forth are not always clear and difficult to assess. The qualitative research carried out helped to determine the experience of anti-corruption programming and to identify the main problems in the municipalities of Klaipėda City, Klaipeda Disrict and Kretinga District. During the structured interviews it was found that the municipalities face different problems - in Klaipėda City Municipality the problems perceived by the informants relate more to the methodological and value aspects of the preparation, in Klaipėda District the informants believe that there is a lack of financial and human resources and that the public does not believe in the effectiveness of the programme, while in Kretinga District Municipality the problems of responsibility for the preparation of the programmes and the lack of activity on the part of the public and politicians are seen

The main focus of these master’s thesis is youth participation in sustainable tourism. UNWTO and United Nations highlights that youth is the main power which can promote sustainable tourism. Majority of scientific publications (Moscardo and others, 2010; Shafieisabet, Haratifard 2020, etc.) proves that youth participation in sustainable tourism is still low, especially there is not enough research provided to show sustainable tourism perception and features of sustainable tourism in action among youth. Aim of this thesis is to examine youth participation in promotion of sustainable tourism and to form possible sustainable tourism directions of improvement to develop and promote sustainable tourism among youth. Methods of scientific literature and document analysis helped to clear the concept of sustainability, sustainable development, define sustainable tourism conception. Disclosed sustainable tourism main principles, features, dimensions, indicators, and criteria. Also, review of the possibilities of involving young people in sustainability have been examined. An analysis of strategic documents has been carried out to find out the direction of sustainable tourism development, to be precise and to act as a step in the development of sustainable tourism. The master's thesis presents the performed quantitative and qualitative research. Using survey questionnaire youth participation in sustainable tourism and understanding of the concept of sustainable tourism was disclosed, also it showed the preferences of youth travel and application of sustainable tourism principles while traveling. A qualitative study using interview method was designed to reveal the possible directions of youth participation in the implementation of the principles of strengthening sustainable tourism. The survey showed that young people are not sufficiently familiar with the concept of sustainable tourism, only 24.7% of respondents in the 16-25 age group said that the concept of sustainable tourism is well understandable by them, so there is a need to find ways and opportunities to develop sustainable tourism. Youth participation in the implementation of the principles of sustainable tourism is revealed through various aspects of the tourism context (transport, choice of accommodation, sustainable travel behavior, provisions for sustainable tourism, etc.). Young people are oriented towards sustainable behaviour both in their daily lives (buying food, using household appliances, water) and when traveling, but they identify the lack of information about sustainable tourism as a key problem in achieving even more active implementation of the principles of sustainability. The master's thesis forms possible directions for strengthening the participation of young people in the development of sustainable tourism

Neck circumference and cardiometabolic risk in children and adolescents: the moderator role of cardiorespiratory fitness /
Background: The increased incidence of cardiometabolic risk factors has become a public health issue, especially in childhood and adolescence. Thus, early identification is essential to avoid or reduce future complications in adulthood. In this sense, the present study aimed to verify the influence of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) as a moderator in the association between neck circumference (NC) and cardiometabolic risk in children and adolescents. Methods: Cross-sectional study that included 2418 randomly selected children and adolescents (52.5% girls), aged 6 to 17 years old. Anthropometric measurements, such as NC and body mass index (BMI), and CRF was measured by the six-minute running/walking test, as well as cardiometabolic risk (systolic blood pressure, glucose, HDL-C, and triglycerides), were assessed. Results: For all age groups, NC showed a negative relationship with CRF. A significant interaction term was found for CRF x NC with cardiometabolic risk for children (6 to 9 years old), early adolescents (10 to 12 years old), and middle adolescents (13 to 17 years old). It was found that children who accomplished more than 1092.49 m in CRF test were protected against cardiometabolic risk when considering NC. In adolescents, protection against cardiometabolic risk was found when the CRF test was completed above 1424.14 m and 1471.87 m (early and middle stage, respectively). Conclusions: CRF is inversely associated with NC and acts as a moderator in the relationship between NC and cardiometabolic risk in children and adolescents. Therefore, this detrimental health impact linked to fatness might be attenuated by improving CRF levels

Building up the independence of children with disabilities in the dolphin-assisted therapy centre: towards greater possibilities.
The article analyses the independence of children with mental and behavioural disorders, and the importance of its development and background, which creates the preconditions for a better quality of life. Psychomotor development and building up the independence of children with disabilities basically predetermine better conditions for the child’s integration into the community, the reduction of stress and dependence on family members, and better harmony in the family. The child’s psychomotor development covers major areas of child development: gross motor skills, fine motor skills, cognition, perception of language, verbal expression, self-regulation, and social and emotional development. But in terms of mental and behavioural disorders, the formation of skills proceeds in a more complex way. This disorder often manifests itself together with sensory problems: too high/low response, high stress felt, anxiety, and detachment from specific activities/measures, which may result in the delayed formation of independence skills. The development of the independence of a child with a disability is very important when individually selecting a suitable environment and factors that increase the motivation to learn, seek and interiorise newly acquired skills. These skills predetermine the possibilities for a person with a disability to feel independent in their daily activities in the future. Engagement in social interaction is an inevitable and important element of a high-quality daily life. Children with a disability face increased difficulties in their daily routines. Children with poorer social skills undergo social exclusion, and experience more difficulties in perceiving the feelings of other people, recognising and expressing emotions, complying with regulations and norms, and respecting themselves and others
