Sustainability in Educational Research: Mapping the Field with a Bibliometric Analysis
This research uncovers contemporary patterns by employing the bibliometric analysis approach to analyze sustainability research in the education domain. Consequently, we map the academic outputs and observe a tendency of increased publications, which proves the growing interest in global sustainability imperatives with the help of WoS data. Regarding the publications, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States were the most productive, stressing an international focus and interdisciplinarity. The analysis showed that there was a shift in the topic focus from environmental education to sustainable education as a result of integrating SDGs into every level of education. As such, the results highlight the role of education in sustainability and necessitate more research for better evaluation and implementation of educational efforts. This study not only presents a history of the field but also sets a future agenda for the discipline, which is the significance of education for sustainability. In this way, our work enhances the knowledge of sustainability in education, and the results of our work lay a theoretical and methodological basis for further research and activities in the field
The Effects of Online Chemistry-Themed Design-Based STEM Education on Preservice Science Teachers’ STEM Awareness
The study investigated the impact of Chemistry-Focused Online Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) teacher education on the awareness of STEM among preservice science teachers. A one-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental weak design was used to determine changes in preservice teachers’ STEM awareness. During the study, a 14-week Chemistry-Focused Online STEM course was provided to preservice science teachers. As part of this course, the theoretical knowledge about STEM was explained to students, and afterward, they completed two modules. Furthermore, preservice teachers also developed their chemistry- themed STEM lesson plans at the beginning of the course, after explaining theoretical knowledge about STEM at the end. The study group consisted of 17 senior preservice science teachers enrolled in the elective Teaching Chemistry in Elementary Education at a state university in the Marmara region during the spring semester of 2020–2021. The data were collected with the STEM Awareness Scale. The results revealed that chemistry-focused online STEM education enhances preservice science teachers’ STEM awareness. Potential implications from this research suggest that the preservice science teacher participants benefited significantly from chemistry-focused online STEM education while engaging in science and engineering practices and using chemistry knowledge to solve real-life problems
Changes in Defensive Variables Determining Success in the NBA over the Last 10 Years
This study aimed to determine changes in defensive strategies over the past decade in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and identify the most crucial factors for winning games. The study analyzed all games where the 30 NBA teams played over 11 seasons (13,530 games) and created outcome statistics based on win-loss records. Five defensive variables (OREB [offensive rebound], DREB [defensive rebound], TREB [total rebound], ST [steal] and BLK [block]) were compared, revealing that OREB (p < 0.03), DREB (p < 0.001), TREB (p < 0.001), ST (p < 0.001) and BLK (p < 0.001) occur significantly in winning teams. Also, it has been observed that the changes over the years in the variables OREB (p < 0.01), DREB (p < 0.01), TREB (p < 0.01) and ST (p < 0.01) are statistically significant. However, there was no significant difference in the BLK variable over the years (p = 0.24). The impact of defensive variables on winning and their factor loadings are as follows: DREB (lambda = 0.50), ST (lambda = 0.15), TREB (lambda = 0.10), BLK (lambda = 0.08) and OREB (lambda = 0.06). Coaches can use these findings on defensive variables to strategize and counter opponents during games
Women's Issue According to Sırâtımüstakim Writer Ferîd Vecdî and Women's Rights Advocate Fatma Aliye Topuz
Ferîd Vecdî and Fatma Aliye Topuz are people of two different worlds who lived in the same period. Although there are some differences in their views on women's issues, the sources they refer to are the same. Both authors approach the women's issue by reinterpreting Islam's perspective on women. The aim of the study is to explain the position of women in social life from the perspective of Ferîd Wajdî and Fatma Aliye Topuz. The authors sought ways for women to create surplus-value in society and came to some conclusions. Methodologically, the study is based on the works of two authors. Although the thoughts of both authors are outdated in the modernizing world, when interpreted historically, they provide readers with arguments to make a socio-economic analysis of a period. As it is known, what a historian should not do when evaluating events and phenomena is not to fall into anachronism. The idea of Westernization, which emerged in the mid-nineteenth century, gave rise to two types of intellectuals. The first was Ferîd Vecdî style intellectuals who defended the traditionalist understanding, and the second was Fatma Aliye Topuz style intellectuals who were influenced by Western value judgments and advocated for women's presence in social life. The study also provides information about the historical background of the West-East irreconcilable contradiction in our country
Electric and magnetic fluxes for pseudo-hyperbolic magnetic particles
In this study, we characterize the electromagnetic parameters of magnetic particles in pseudo hyperbolic (ph) 3-space and analyze the electric and magnetic fluxes associated with these parameters. In particular, we examine power flows as an electromagnetic parameter. This involves determining how energy flows within the system and understanding the energy density and magnitude of the magnetic particles under consideration. In our study, we use curves representing the trajectories of electromagnetic waves and the equations of electric and magnetic fields as materials. First of all, we derive magnetic fields and Lorentz forces for these particles, which you refer to as pseudo-hyperbolic (ph) magnetic particles. Then we calculate electric fields and power flows using the equations relating to Newtonian and Lorentz forces. This step helps us measure the electromagnetic behavior of particles. Finally, we characterize the electric and magnetic fluxes of these power flows. Also, in this section, we provide simulation plots with observations of the results obtained
Araplarda Hakemlik ve Hz. Peygamber'in Kabe Hakemliği
Peygamber’in bunu çözüme kavuşturduğu bilinmektedir. Yaşanan bu ihtilafın çözümünde Hz. Peygamber’in üstlenmiş olduğu hakemlikle ilgili farklı görüşler söz konusudur. Bu görüşlerden biri, Hz. Muhammed’in cahiliye dönemindeki hakemler arasında yer almadığı, onun Kâbe hakemliğinin yalnızca rastlantı sonucu gerçekleştiği yönündedir. Peygamber’in Kâbe hakemliği bağlamında Hacerülesved ve Kâbe hakkındaki bazı rivâyetlerin tahlili yapılacaktır. Böylelikle konunun okuyucuların zihninde daha doğru bir şekilde anlaşılması amaçlanmaktadı

Cascade controller design via controller synthesis for load frequency control of electrical power systems
The regulation of tie -line electricity flow and frequency of electrical power systems (EPS) is crucial for ensuring their robustness to parameter changes and efficient management of disturbances. To this end, a novel cascade control design approach utilizing a serial Proportional -Integral -Derivative controller with a filter (PIDF) is proposed in this paper. The parameters of the controllers are derived analytically, and it is employed in both loops of the cascade control system to regulate the Load Frequency Control (LFC) of EPS. The implementation of PIDF controllers in both loops is utilized in the cascade control scheme for various power systems featuring different turbine topologies. This approach has been applied to single, and two -area power systems and has exhibited enhanced performance compared to other commonly referenced studies in the literature. To assess the effectiveness of the cascade control approach proposed performance metrics such as settling time, peak value (overshoot), and integral absolute error (IAE) value of frequency and tie -line power variations are utilized to gauge the system's response to a load perturbation. Additionally, the suggested cascade control technique and design process have undergone robustness testing with +/- 50% changes in system parameters to validate their reliability
A comprehensive examination of microbial hazards and risks during indoor soilless leafy green production
Produce grown under controlled environment agriculture (CEA) is often assumed to have a reduced risk of pathogen contamination due to the low chance of exposure to outdoor contaminant factors. However, the 2021 outbreak and numerous recalls of CEA-grown lettuce and microgreens demonstrate the possibility of pathogen introduction during indoor production when there is a failure in the implementation of food safety management systems. Indoor production of commercial leafy greens, such as lettuce and microgreens, is performed across a range of protective structures from primitive household setups to advanced and partially automatized growing systems. Indoor production systems include hydroponic, aquaponic, and aeroponic configurations. Hydroponic systems such as deep water culture and nutrient film technique comprised of various engineering designs represent the main system types used by growers. Depending on the type of leafy green, the soilless substrate, and system selection, risk of microbial contamination will vary during indoor production. In this literature review, science-based pathogen contamination risks and mitigation strategies for indoor production of microgreens and more mature leafy greens are discussed during both pre-harvest and post-harvest stages of production.Center for Produce Safety [2023CPS04]; National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) , U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Hatch Act fundingThis research is funded by the Center for Produce Safety under grant number 2023CPS04. PRESERVICE ENGLISH TEACHERS’ VIEWS ON ONLINE LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT IN TURKEY
Technology has rapidly accelerated the adoption of online language assessments (OLA), presenting unique opportunities and challenges. This study explores preservice English teachers’ views on OLA in Turkish Turkey. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, interviews were conducted with 11 English preservice teachers from a state university in Turkey. The findings reveal both the advantages and disadvantages of OLA. On the positive side, preservice teachers highlighted the environmental and financial benefits of reducing paper use and operational efficiencies like automated grading and the flexibility of remote assessments. They also appreciated the enhanced learning experiences provided by multimedia and interactive elements and the innovative assessment opportunities offered by online platforms. However, significant challenges were identified, including technical and infrastructure barriers, varying levels of digital literacy, and concerns about assessment integrity and security. Psychological challenges were also prominent, with many preservice teachers experiencing increased stress and anxiety due to unfamiliarity with online formats and the pressures of adapting to new technologies. These insights underscore the need for comprehensive training and support to help preservice teachers navigate the complexities of OLA, ensuring both effective implementation and the well-being of future educators
