    No full text
Traditional gender roles have put psychological pressure on college students. The lack of gender-sensitive counseling services and studies in universities reinforces traditional gender roles. With this basis, this study aims to determine students' views on gender-sensitive counseling services. Qualitative research using semi-structured interviews was used to understand their perspectives deeply. Focus is given to formulating questions, aiming to address potential social biases that may hinder participants from providing honest information. Participants consisted of 4 guidance and counseling students (2 men and two women) who had not received lecture material on gender-sensitive counseling in a multicultural counseling course at one of the State Universities in Samarinda City. The results showed that there is an understanding of traditional gender roles, masculinity discourse in counseling services, and gender bias occurring in counselors can be obstacles in providing access to gender-sensitive mental health services. This research confirms the need to study and design gender-sensitive counseling services to access more inclusive mental health services in higher education

    No full text
Towards the completion of their tertiary education, students should have adapted to the work demands of the future. Career adaptability is determined by the student's character or personal assets. However, the influence of personal attributes on career adjustment is not always consistent. Other factors influence the strength of this influence. This research aims to determine the moderating role of academic achievement in the relationship between positive youth development (PYD) and student career adaptability. Data collection used the Positive Youth Development Scale and Career Adaptability Scale. We measured academic achievement using GPA. The research involved 286 eighth-semester students using a total sampling technique. Data analysis used a moderation test with Jamovi 2.0.0 statistical software. The results show that academic achievement moderates the impact of positive youth development on career adaptability. We found that PYD has a high effect on career adaptability in students with a high GPA. In contrast, PYD has low impact on career adaptability in students with low GPAs. The research results are beneficial in overcoming the low adaptability of students' careers by increasing positive youth development and academic achievement

Existing knowledge indicates that responsive parenting significantly influences the quality of friendships among adolescents. However, previous research has not fully elucidated the dynamics within the relationship between responsive parenting and friendship quality. This study seeks to investigate the role of interpersonal communication skills as a mediator in relationships between responsive parenting and friendship quality. It involved 150 respondents aged 12-20 years (Mage = 16.87; SD = 2.51), comprising 50 early adolescents, 50 middle adolescents, and 50 late adolescents. Measurement of the three variables utilized scales: the Parental Responsiveness Scale subscale, the Interpersonal Communication Scale, and the McGill Friendship Questionnaires-Friend's Functions. Hypothesis testing using mediation analysis reveals that interpersonal communication skills mediate the relationship between father/mother's responsive parenting and friendship quality. These findings suggest that positive interactions between parents and adolescents through responsive parenting serve as models for adolescents in their peer relationships by enhancing interpersonal communication skills. The limitations and directions for further research are discussed
