The Impact of The Writing Abilities of Learners in Special Education Centres and Transitioning into Inclusive Schools in the United Arab Emirates
This research examines the writing skills of students in special education centres and their transition to inclusive schools in the United Arab Emirates. Writing is a fundamental aspect of learning, yet it poses significant challenges for students with learning difficulties, often hindering their integration into mainstream classrooms. This study investigates the effectiveness of current writing support programme, the challenges teachers face, and the impact of UAE educational policies on inclusion. Using a mixed-methods approach, data was collected through questionnaires and interviews with teachers, students, and administrators to explore the relationship between writing proficiency, academic success, and classroom participation. Findings indicate that while special education centres provide essential support, students struggle in mainstream schools due to teachers’ limited training, insufficient resources, and rigid curricula.Furthermore, adapting classroom instruction to meet the needs of transitioning students remains a challenge. The study highlights the importance of targeted interventions, including enhanced teacher training, assistive tools, and improved writing instruction methods. Stronger collaboration between special education centres and inclusive schools is recommended to facilitate smoother transitions. Addressing these challenges will support the UAE’s commitment to inclusive education, ensuring equitable learning opportunities for all students

A Critical Analysis for the Assessments and Moderation Policy of a UAE Higher Education Institution
This paper represents a critical analysis of Assessment and Moderation Policy implemented in a UAE higher education institution. This critical analysis of the policy followed the SWOT analysis approach. It aimed to determine the effectiveness of the mentioned policy by analysing the policy horizontally. The paper employs a critical thinking discussion of the components, rational and strength areas of the policy to identify the key weaknesses and threats associated with it, drawing on the prior work experience and pertinent literature review. The policy shows the availability of strong components such as the alignment with accreditation standards, rubric implementation and documenting a blind marking process. However, an absence of clarity in selecting the moderation samples, and in formulating the rubrics results in inconsistent implementation across departments, compromise its reliability, and affects the uniformity of student evaluations. To enhance policy effectiveness, the paper recommends the development of comprehensive workshops on rubric creation, the adoption of stratified sampling for moderation, and the engagement of students in understanding assessment criteria. It emphasizes the importance of regular policy evaluation and adaptation based on faculty and student feedback. This critique aims to contribute to the discourse on educational policy evaluation by providing insights into the challenges and opportunities for enhancing assessment and moderation policies in higher education
The Relationship Between Bilingualism and Achievement
This paper addresses the cognitive and academic impacts of bilingualism, particularly focusing on students in the UAE, where bilingual education programs have been significantly promoted. Bilingual students are hypothesized to have enhanced executive control and cognitive flexibility, potentially leading to superior academic performance compared to monolingual peers. Empirical evidence and theoretical frameworks such as Krashen’s Second Language Acquisition Theory and various cognitive development theories are explored to understand how bilingualism may affect academic achievement. The study utilizes a mixed-method approach, employing interviews and questionnaires among educators in UAE schools to gauge perceptions and real-world impacts of bilingual education on student achievement. Findings are expected to contribute to the ongoing debate regarding the efficacy of bilingual education programs and provide insights into optimal instructional strategies in bilingual settings
Impact of Innovative Lighting Strategies on the Performance of Workplace Environments: Evaluation of Solar Tubes
Most buildings in UAE rely on the daylighting as a sustainable source to provide good indoor lighting quality. This natural source will allow to save energy, improve the indoor ambiance, enhance the work productivity, provide good visual comfort as well as providing the physiological and psychological needs of humans. This paper covered the various techniques that are needed to promote daylighting in buildings, this includes literature review, present one international case study, and applying the learned concepts to the offices at The Abu Dhabi University campus. The different applied solutions of daylighting on the selected building were simulated using Dialux EVO software to study and analyse the improvements of lighting quality and the impact on energy consumption. The simulation phase has covered 4 strategies, strategy 1 is for solar tubes ×1, size 10 in., strategy 2 is for solar tubes ×2, size 24 in., strategy 3 is for solar tubes ×3, size 24 in., and strategy 4 is for solar tubes ×4, size 24 in. The results showed that the offices in strategy 3 received 3 solar tubes with 24 in. each, and this have helped to enhance the amount of lux and achieve the requirements. The simulation results using solar tubes strategies have achieved the desired lux needed for indoor space with zero energy consumption as all artificial lights were switched off
Memory Enhancing Strategies to Support Learning and Cognitive Functioning in Students with Neurodevelopmental Disorders
The article aimed to assess and combine methods that improve memory in students with neurodevelopmental disorders to support academic outcomes. The focus is on identifying practical ways to enhance memory, learning, and cognitive development that can be integrated into educational practices. The literature review approach was designed to analyze empirical studies and theoretical analyses to related memory strategies within cognitive psychology and neuroscience. Employing a systematic review format, several articles were collated and analyzed, the results show that personalized memory strategies, along with regular and structured practice, significantly improve learning and retention in students with neurodevelopmental challenges. Techniques like visualization, association, and spaced repetition are especially helpful in enhancing both short-term and long-term memory. These results have important implications for educators and practitioners, indicating a need for adaptable educational frameworks that integrate memory enhancement techniques. This has the potential to elevate academic performance and cognitive development in students with neurodevelopmental disorders. The significance of this study lies in its ability to impact educational methods and policy development by highlighting evidence-based, non-pharmacological interventions
Analysing Factors Affecting User Intentions with regard to Hydrogen FCEVs in the UAE
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) faces critical environmental challenges due to high CO₂ emissions, with the transportation sector contributing significantly to the country's carbon footprint. To address this, the study explores hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) as a sustainable alternative. It aims to assess user behaviour intention (BI) for future adoption of FCEVs, by applying the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. The factors examined are performance expectations (PE), effort expectations (EE), social impact (SI), environmental concerns (EC), perceived safety concerns (PS), Policy incentives (PI), and technological knowledge, awareness (TA) is a moderating factor. The online survey conducted in the UAE resulted in 292 participants. The UTAUT model was estimated using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). Considering that that FCEVs are still not available in the UAE. The findings indicate that, PE, SI is positively affects BI toward FCEVs, emerged as the most powerful drivers of user’s intentions to purchase it. EE, EC, PS, PI had no effect on BI toward FCEVs. Despite various policy incentives, a lack of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure hinders intention to adopt. Technology knowledge positively moderates EE and negatively SI toward FCEVs. However, those with greater TA tend to accept this technology since they believe it to be easy to use, and they will use their own judgment instead of peer influence in their intention to adopt it. The study recommends that automakers and UAE policymakers prioritize infrastructure development and education initiatives. Also reduce reliance on financial assistance only in the initial stages. Support the hydrogen economy and develop sustainable transportation goals.

Enhancing the Incident Response Capabilities of the UAE Critical Infrastructure Against Phishing Cyber Security Threat: An AI-Based Approach
Phishing attacks pose a significant threat to critical infrastructure in the UAE. This study proposes an AI-driven approach to enhance incident response capabilities against such threats. The research adapts the Technology Threat Avoidance Theory (TTAT) to an organizational context and develops a machine learning model for phishing detection and response. This research contributes to both theory and practice by extending TTAT and creating an AI prototype tailored to the UAE's critical infrastructure needs. The study employs a design science approach, incorporating qualitative evaluations from UAE experts to refine the model. This research aims to strengthen organizational resilience and contribute to the UAE's national cybersecurity objectives
The Potential Impact of the Singapore Convention on Mediation in the UAE Construction Industry
This dissertation examines the potential benefits of adopting the Singapore Convention on Mediation for the construction industry in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It explores how the industry’s nature of being fast-paced and involving stakeholders of different professional backgrounds necessitates less adversarial dispute resolution instruments that can be readily enforced in an international context. Relying on a hybrid research methodology which combines doctrinal analysis with qualitative information gathered from interviews with legal and construction professionals, the dissertation investigates existing dispute resolution practices in the UAE, the evolution and enforceability challenges of mediation, and the impact of the Singapore Convention, should the UAE choose to join the treaty. The research reveals that while traditional methods such as litigation and arbitration remain the default dispute resolution mechanism, mediation is growing in popularity and its application in an international setting is bolstered by the Singapore Convention. However, the effectiveness of the Convention is tied to the success and progression of legal reforms in each signatory state, coupled with the uniformity of enforceability globally. Based on these findings, the dissertation recommends policy reforms, capacity-building initiatives, and international benchmarking to promote the Convention’s seamless adoption. Ultimately, the research highlights the promise of the Convention in transforming dispute resolution in the UAE, thereby solidifying international investors’ confidence in the UAE construction industry
Beyond Taste: Investigating Indoor Air Quality in Sharjah’s Restaurants
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is crucial for customer satisfaction and well-being in restaurants but is often overlooked. As Sharjah becomes a global gastronomic hub, it is essential to address the complex issues of IAQ, which are linked to health, environmental, and climatic issues. International organizations like ASHRAE and WHO have enacted strict regulations and policies in order for improvement and maintenance of IAQ within the criteria of health and comfort. This study examines toxic air pollutants in a café setting to determine if they meet global requirements and standards. The majority of customers were satisfied with the staff’s service and saw no difference in their work rate, indicating a high standard of indoor air quality which satisfies the United Arab Emirates’ Indoor Air Quality standard
