    Deciphering heat-enhanced resistance of grapevine berries to Botrytis cinerea highlights differential cuticular and secondary metabolite accumulations between Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon

    In the context of climate change, temperature is a key abiotic driver of bunch microclimate, which, in order to reduce Botrytis cinerea development, is often managed in vineyards via practices such as leaf removal. The heatdependent mechanisms of pathogen resistance in grapevines nevertheless remain to be fully elucidated. In this study, the effect of heat stress (HS) applied specifically to green bunches on infections caused by B. cinerea on ripe berries inoculated 23 days later was assessed for two years in a greenhouse. Bunches of the Cabernet Sauvignon (CS) and Merlot (M) cultivars were heated 6 days 8 h daily with a 10 • C increased temperature. In vitro bio tests highlighted a significant heat-enhanced resistance only in CS berries, whereas a stable constitutive resistance characterized the M berries. Bunch veraison and total sugar content were not affected by HS, rejecting its effect on maturation dynamics. Therefore, berry preformed barriers at the time of inoculation, which can hinder fungal colonization, were investigated. While HS had nearly no effect on waxes, it significantly affected the cutin content in both varieties, and more significantly its composition in CS. Similarly, the antifungal skin condensed tannins overaccumulated following HS in both cultivars, and their basal level was greater in CS than in M. Otherwise, M accumulated more stilbene and flavonoid compounds, which may have contributed to the observed varietal resistance.     Odatix: An open-source design automation toolbox for FPGA/ASIC implementation

    In modern hardware digital design, optimizing performance, resource utilization, and power consumption across different technological targets remains a critical challenge. Indeed, the drive for greater computational power, alongside the need to reduce power consumption, stems from a wide range of applications, from data centers to mobile devices. However, this push encounters significant cost barriers, as the manufacturing cost is closely tied to the technological nodes used and the area for integrated circuits, and is particularly influenced by the amount of available resources for FPGAs. These three criteria are inherently conflicting, as improving one often negatively impacts the others. Finding the best balance between these factors requires significant effort. To address these complexities, design automation tools are increasingly valuable. Odatix is an open-source toolbox designed for the automated implementation and validation of parametrizable digital architectures. It supports synthesis, placement and routing for various FPGA and ASIC tools and simulators. It simplifies key stages such as synthesis, place and route, simulation, and validation, allowing designers to efficiently navigate multiple configurations and identify optimal solutions tailored to specific application constraints. Indeed, Odatix enables comparative analysis of multiple architectural configurations through various metrics such as maximum operating frequency, resource utilization, and power consumption. This paper presents an overview of Odatix’s capabilities and its application to the AsteRISC processor, demonstrating its utility in choosing the best architectural configuration, technological target and EDA tool for specific application constraints

    Carnet de la Maison des Sciences Humaines de BordeauxLe site archéologique de la Huaca Pintada, situé dans la région de Lambayeque (côte nord du Pérou), constituerait selon d’anciennes prospections un site clé pour comprendre la période dite « Transitionnelle » (850-900 apr. J.-C.), marquée par le déclin des Mochica et l’émergence de la culture Lambayeque. Redécouverte en 2022, sa fresque monumentale, initialement détruite par des pilleurs au début du XXe siècle, révèle une surprenante scène polychrome composée de vingt guerriers marchant en direction d’une divinité centrale. L’analyse archéométrique des pigments utilisés dans sa fabrication présentée dans cet article a mis en évidence l’usage d’ocres rouges, jaunes et noirs au manganèse, ainsi qu’une fausse impression de bleu. Ces résultats témoignent de procédés techniques partagés avec d’autres sites régionaux et renforcent l’idée d’un héritage hybride entre traditions locales et influences méridionales mettant en évidence la complexité des dynamiques socioculturels à l’origine de la culture Lambayeque.The archaeological site of Huaca Pintada, located in the Lambayeque region on the northern coast of Peru, has long been regarded through earlier surveys as a key locus for understanding the so-called “Transitional” period (AD 850–900), marked by the decline of the Moche and the emergence of the Lambayeque culture. Rediscovered in 2022, its monumental mural—initially destroyed by looters in the early twentieth century—reveals a striking polychrome scene composed of twenty warriors advancing toward a central deity. The archaeometric analysis of the pigments employed in its production, presented in this article, identified the use of red and yellow ochres, manganese-based blacks, and an illusory impression of blue. These findings demonstrate technological practices shared with other regional sites and support the notion of a hybrid heritage that combined local traditions with southern influences, underscoring the complexity of the sociocultural dynamics underlying the formation of the Lambayeque culture

    Background Carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) may identify early alterations in the vascular phenotype in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD).Methods and Results Investigation of longitudinal changes in cIMT SD scores (SDS) in 670 patients from the 4C Study (Cardiovascular Comorbidity in Children With CKD Study), aged 6 to 17 years, with CKD stage 3 to 5 at baseline. The longitudinal trajectory of cIMT SDS over up to 8 years was examined using a longitudinal mixed-effects model. The yearly progression rate in cIMT SDS (beta=0.20 [95% CI, 0.13-0.28]) remained positive during the initial 4.5-year follow-up period but slowed down quadratically with increasing observation time (beta=-0.02 [95% CI, -0.03 to -0.01]). Risk factors for increased cIMT SDS included time since baseline, younger age, higher height SDS, female sex, elevated diastolic blood pressure, and lower serum albumin, but not estimated glomerular filtration rate. In patients with progressive CKD, higher albuminuria was additionally associated with an increase in cIMT SDS. In patients with stable CKD, serum phosphate and time were the only risk factors identified for elevated cIMT SDS.
