    No full text
The Turkish presence on Cyprus commenced in 1571 when the Ottoman Empire conquered the island. The decline of the Empire in the 19th century had an impact on Cyprus following a three-century rule and the British began to rule the island in 1878 first on a temporary basis, making it permanent later on. From this standpoint, 1878 is a major breaking point for the Turkish Cypriots. The literature developed on the island after 1878 as a result of some historic developments experienced by the Turkish Cypriots independently of the homeland. This difference manifests itself in the form of content in particular. The Cyprus issue has been addressed more intensively in the literature of the Turkish Cypriots as a consequence of their past experiences. To this end, the Cypriot academics have undertaken major studies in terms of quality and quantity, covering the Turkish Cypriot novel. However, the implications of the Cyprus issue on the Turkish novel developed in Turkey are limited compared to the Turkish Cypriot novel. In parallel, the number of studies over this theme is not sufficient. To this end, our paper is intended to put forth how The Cyprus Turkish Forces Regiment’s landing to the island, which is a significant event for the Turkish Cypriot history, has affected the novels written by the writers from Turkey. We have established that three novelists from Turkey namely Alev Alatlı, Mustafa Necati Sepetçioğlu, and Mustafa Mutlu İbili covered the The Cyprus Turkish Forces Regiment in five novels between 1960 when the regiment landed on the island and 2015. Offering a historical background on the foundation and landing of the regiment, the paper addresses how the aforementioned novelists tackle this significant issue in their works

This study aims to determine individuals' perceptions regarding partner phubbing behavior in romantic relationships. Additionally, the study seeks more detailed information based on personal experiences related to partner phubbing behavior, which affects romantic relationship satisfaction. A phenomenological design, one of the qualitative approaches, was utilized in the study. The research sample consisted of 15 participants (10 women and five men aged between 21 and 29 years (X= 26.6), who had been in a romantic relationship for at least one month. The study group was selected using criterion sampling, one of the purposive sampling methods. Participants included students and/or working individuals at the associate, undergraduate, and graduate education levels. Semi-structured, face-to-face interviews were conducted with each participant. The findings were analyzed in detail based on codes and categories, resulting in 13 distinct themes. The findings revealed that smartphone usage has become a common practice within relationships and negatively affects interactional factors (emotional, communicative, and relational effects). It was observed that partners turning to their smartphones during leisure time or moments without social interaction reduced the quality of time in romantic relationships, weakened emotional bonds, and led to communication breakdowns. This situation was found to generate feelings of exclusion and neglect in individuals exposed to partner phubbing, triggering negative emotions such as stress, anger, anxiety, and frustration. The study concluded that partner phubbing disrupts communication and causes distractions, lowering relationship satisfaction levels. Partner phubbing behavior was also found to be distracting during daily or planned activities, negatively impacting relationship satisfaction and emotional bonds. Couples predominantly employed strategies like "phone restrictions" in response to partner phubbing behavior and sought to create more quality time in their relationships through social media detoxes and disabling notifications. In conclusion, partner phubbing behavior emerged as a significant factor that threatens relationship satisfaction. The findings were analyzed and discussed, considering the relevant literature. Finally, theoretical and practical implications and suggestions for future research were presented

    No full text
In this work, a bimetallic Ru-Co catalyst based on carbon nanotubes (Ru-Co/CNT) with a Ru to Co ratio of 95:5 is developed. The catalyst, featuring a total metal loading of 3% on the CNTs, is synthesized using the NaBH4 reduction method. Several analytical analyses are used to detect the properties of the Ru-Co/CNT catalyst. X-ray diffraction (XRD) provides information on crystal structures of the catalysts, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) reveals particle size and distribution, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) measures the elemental composition, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) use to investigate the chemical oxidation states. In addition, thermal techniques including temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), temperature-programmed oxidation (TPO), and temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) are used to recognize the active sites on the catalyst's surface and the acidity. Then, the Ru-Co/CNT catalyst is applied as a sensor for isoleucine amino acid for the first time. It shows high performance with these parameters, sensitivity (0.002 mA cm-2 mm), LOD - limit of detection (0.04 mu m), and LOQ - limit of quantification (0.12 mu m). Moreover, the interferences of common serum blood including (D-glucose, uric acid, ascorbic acid, and L-tryptophan) are studied. The findings indicated that the sensor is applicable to work in complex biological systems.Eskisehir Osmangazi University [FCD-2023-2611]The authors thank to Eskisehir Osmangazi University (FCD-2023-2611) for chemicals and solvents

    No full text
To obtain compatible properties of high-temperature performance and mechanical strength properties, AlCoCrFeNiTi high-entropy alloy (HEA) was designed as a new candidate material for metal-based thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems. The aim of this study is to investigate potential applications of AlCoCrFeNiTi-HEA as a coating material for TBC systems and to determine its behavior under high temperature conditions. CoNiCrAlY bond coatings were produced on the Inconel-718 substrate surface using high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) technique. AlCoCrFeNiTi-HEAs were produced on CoNiCrAlY bond coatings using atmospheric plasma spray (APS) technique and a typical TBC system structure was obtained. The produced AlCoCrFeNiTi-HEA TBC system was exposed to oxidation at temperatures of 1000 degrees C and 1100 degrees C for time periods of 5 h, 25 h, 50 hand 100 h in order to determine the oxidation resistance under isothermal conditions and to investigate formation and growth behavior of oxide structures formed at the coating interface. As a result of oxidation tests, the growth behavior of the thermally grown oxide (TGO) layer formed between the coating interfaces and the microstructural changes occurring in the coating system were investigated depending on temperature and time processes. In the TBC system with Ti- containing HEA content, a transformation from body-centered cubic (BCC) structure to rhombohedral crystal lattice structure occurred as a result of increasing temperature. Many spinel compound forms were formed at the coating interface. It was observed that the coating system with AlCoCrFeNiTi-HEA content maintained its structural integrity without any damage such as microstructural and mechanical spalling and cracking under conditions of high temperature and different time periods.Council of Higher Education for the support of the 100/2000 YOK Doctoral ScholarshipWe would like to thank the Council of Higher Education for the support of the 100/2000 YOK Doctoral Scholarship

    No full text
Schiff bases, azomethine group containing compounds, form a significant class in pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry with biologic applications. In this study, two new Schiff base molecules (7 and 9) were synthesized from the condensation reaction of 1-amino-5-(4-methylbenzoyl)-4-p-tolylpyrimidin-2(1H)-one (Z1) with 3-chlorobenzaldehyde and 3-fluorobenzaldehydes in good yields (76-75%). The synthesized Schiff bases were completely characterized by IR, NMR and LC-MS. Moreover, both synthesized compounds were evaluated against acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase as two important targets in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Approximately, both new compounds were more potent than positive control tacrine against these studied enzymes. Cholinesterase enzyme inhibition is a widely used treatment approach for a variety of mental illnesses. Through the inhibition of the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, which hydrolyzes acetylcholine, cholinesterase inhibitors directly improve cholinergic transmission. Using the SAR (structure-activity relationship) approach to connect different functional groups, the influence of this synthesized molecule on the activity was examined. The investigated compounds were then structurally characterized at the levels of B3LYP, HF, and M062X/6-31+G(d,p). Using maps of molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), the active sites of the compounds under study were identified. In the end, our focus was on evaluating the drug's potential as an inhibitor against the Alzheimer's disease, specifically targeting the Alzheimer's disease protein, that are Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) (PDB ID: 1OCE, 1QTI, and 4M0E) and Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) (PDB ID: 6R6V and 2WSL). The binding free energy is computed using MM/GBSA techniques. ADME/T characteristics were investigated to see whether these compounds could be potential drugs.Sivas Cumhuriyet niversitesi [RGD-020]; Scientific Research Project Fund of Sivas Cumhuriyet University (CUBAP) [FYL-2020-10303]; Erciyes University Research FundThe numerical calculations reported in this paper were fully/partially performed at TUBITAK ULAKBIM, High Performance and Grid Computing Center (TRUBA resources). New estimates on generalized Hermite-Hadamard-Mercer-type inequalities

    No full text
The concept of a convex function plays a crucial role in fields of mathematical analysis and inequality theory. The importance of convex functions is exemplified by Mercer's inequality. This inequality, which is derived through the application of convex functions, has been extensively studied and is a subject of considerable interest within the mathematical community. This paper presents new generalizations related to Mercer's inequality and compares the inequalities obtained for different values of n with those presented in the existing literature. Also, this study presents pioneering contributions to the field, and we believe that the results in this study will enhance further research on the topic

Assessment of Attention in Emergency Physicians; Visuomotor Reaction Time Relationship

    No full text
Objective: Emergency physicians require exceptionally high perceptual and cognitive performance during their shifts. Visuomotor reaction time (VMRT) serves as a key indicator of this performance. In the study, we examined the relationship between shift duration and VMRT in physicians working in the emergency department.Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted among emergency physicians working 24-h shifts. Their VMRTs were measured using the FitLight Trainer at 0, 8, 12, 16, and 24 h into the shift. Results: The study included 29 physicians. 11 (37.9%) of the physicians included in the study were female, and the median age was 28.00 (25.50-31.00). A significant difference was found when the VMRTs of the measurements made at the 0th hour, 8th hour, 12th hour, 16th hour, and 24th hour of the shift were compared (p = 0.035). When the post hoc analyses for the groups that created this difference were examined, the VMRT at 0 hour was 0.362 s [0.332-0.402], VMRT at 8 h was 0.358 s [0.328-382], VMRT at 12 hour was 0.353 s [0.319-0.391], VMRT at 16 hour was 0.349 s [0.319-0.383], and VMRT at 24 hour was 0.362 s [0.334-0.393]. While there was a significant difference between VMRT at 0, 8, 12, and 16 h (p = 0.005, p = 0.003, and p = 0.009, respectively), there was no significant difference between VMRT at 24 hour (p = 0.252, p = 0.776, and p = 0.764, respectively). There was no significant difference between shifts at 8, 12, and 16 h (p = 0.776 and p = 0.764, respectively). Conclusion: The VMRT decreased 16 h of physicians' shift, after which physicians showed improved attention. Notably, there were no differences between the VMRT at 0 and 24 h

Are nursing students ready for robotic nurses in obstetrics and gynecologic clinics? a cross-sectional study

    No full text
Background This study aimed to examine the relationship between nursing students' perspectives towards robotic nurses in obstetrics and gynecologic clinics, their fear of robots, their negative attitudes towards robots, and their individual innovativeness. Methods A correlational and cross-sectional research. This study was carried out between September and December 2024 by applying the Personal Data Collection Form, Individual Innovation Scale (IAS), Robot Anxiety Scale (RAS) and Negative Attitude Towards Robots Scale (NARS) to 330 students. Results There was a statistically significant negative correlation was found between the RAS and NARS total and sub-dimension mean scores (p < .001). While there was a statistically significant negative correlation between the mean scores of the IIS and the total and sub-dimensional mean scores of the RAS and NARS (p < .001), a statistically significant positive correlation was found between the mean scores of the RAS total and sub-dimensional mean scores and the mean scores of the NARS total and sub-dimensional mean scores (p < .001). It is seen that the linear regression model in which the mean total scores of the IIS, RAS and NARS were set as independent variables and the opinion on the presence of robotic nurses in the obstetrics and gynecologic clinics was set as the dependent variable was statistically significant (F = 17.141; p < .001). Conclusion As nursing students' positive views on the presence of robotic nurses in the obstetrics and gynecologic clinics increase, their sense of individual innovativeness increases and their robot anxiety and negative attitudes towards robots decrease. Providing in-service robotic nurses training can help healthcare organizations improve obstetrics and gynecologic nurses' attitudes towards robotic nurses, increase their robotic nurses literacy and reduce their anxiety.TUBIdot;TAK [TUBIdot;TAK 2209-A 2023/2, 1919B012314339]This study was supported byTUB & Idot;TAK within the scope of TUB & Idot;TAK 2209-A 2023/2 University Students Research Projects Support Programme (Project Number: 1919B012314339).This study was presented as an oral presentation at the 15th International Congress on Women's Child Health and Education held online on June 19, 2025
