    Life and death in Kierkegaard

    No full text
The human being is a being who finds himself/herself in this world, and with this finding, tries to understand and explain where he/she came from, why he/she came to this world, and where he/she will go from here. These three questions, which cover pre-life, life and post-life, i.e. death, are directly related to the origin of human existence. As a matter of fact, human beings are born, live and die. Only in this process can he individualise and realise his own existence. The path to individuation and existential actualization is unique and singular for every individual. Death has an important function in this uniqueness and uniqueness. Death exists as an integral part of life and holds meaning for those who live in the 'here and now', exerting a transformative influence. Because the consciousness of the brevity of life and the fact that life can end at any moment reminds the individual how valuable and important it is to realise one's own existence. Soren Kierkegaard is one of the philosophers who emphasise the importance of life and death for the individualisation and realisation of one's existence. Kierkegaard, who is both an existentialist and a religious thinker, expresses his views on life and death within this framework. His thoughts on life and death are also effective in determining the three spheres of existence: aesthetic, ethical and religious. Each field expresses a different dimension of life and death. In this study, we have tried to deal with Kierkegaard's views on life and death in relation to the three spheres of existence. Thus, we aim to demonstrate the possibilities of realising one's own existence, which is always faced with the fact that one has a finite and limited life

Recently, the concept of entrepreneurship has become important. One of the main obstacles that entrepreneurs face in realizing their ideas is finding financial support. An entrepreneur who cannot cover their own expenses may turn to family, close friends or public institutions for help and support. In an age where everyone is connected to the internet, crowdfunding has become a viable alternative to traditional funding sources. Crowdfunding ensures the widespread availability of funds to enable new ideas to emerge. The entrepreneur finds the right match by attracting the support of the masses through small donations. The internet is a means of raising funds and the internet has changed a lot of things. Crowdfunding is an additional example; the Internet is a tool for collaborative cooperation, which is part of our culture. Turkey currently allows crowdfunding, which is legal and widely accepted by the world population. Classical theories of finance take the view that individuals are always rational and make best decisions in the best interests of others. Since humans are social creatures, rational behavior is not possible for them. Investments would therefore not make sense.' Much research today has shown this assumption to be wrong. Market disruptions and economic crises are the main indicators that individuals do not always behave rationally. Due to the unpredictability of behavioral finance, these problems cannot be explained by classical finance theories. According to behavioral finance, people are social beings who are part of society and have a direct impact on their environment. According to behavioral finance, humans therefore cannot act rationally. Behavioral finance tries to explain why investors make irrational investments. Behavioral finance can predict the actions of individual investors and the patterns of investment understanding of the masses. Capital is currently one of the most important challenges in realizing new projects. It is difficult for investors to realize their projects when they do not have funds). The use of crowdfunding has recently become a hot topic of conversation, both as an alternative source of financing and as a source for those seeking capital to generate income. Crowdfunding is the process of financing innovative business ideas through online support. This replaces traditional sources of funding. The use of crowdfunding is widespread and supported by law in many countries. Our nation is currently exploring the creation of a legal framework.' So there is a belief that it will become widespread in our nation at some point. The emergence of behavioral finance has brought new perspectives to the field as classical finance theories have failed to explain economic crises and market irregularities. Behaviorism is the study of investors' tendencies and biases towards investments. The main objective is to clarify the factors that prevent the individual from acting rationally. Behavioral finance will be used to examine the impact of crowdfunding decisions

    No full text
This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of undergraduate students' levels of awareness about the Turkish Form of Presidentialism, which has been implemented in T & uuml;rkiye for over five years. It tests two hypotheses concerning potential differences in awareness levels among students from different academic departments. The first hypothesis posits that students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences have a higher level of knowledge about the Turkish form of Presidentialism compared to students of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design. The second hypothesis suggests that students majoring in Political Science and Public Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences are more knowledgeable about the functioning of the Turkish form of Presidentialism compared to students majoring in other departments. The study's population includes 3rd and 4th-year students at Bart & imath;n University who are enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design. This restriction is justified for two reasons. Students in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences are required to take courses related to the governance of the country, and students in the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design also have compulsory courses related to their respective fields. The study is limited to 3rd and 4th-year students because they predominantly take their major courses during these years survey method. The results of the conducted T-test and ANOVA test confirm both hypotheses.TUEBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye)This research was financially supported by TUEBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye) between May 16, 2022, and March 22, 202

Real-Time Classification of Operational Human Movements using YOLOv8-Pose and Feed-Forward Neural Networks

    No full text
9th International Symposium on Innovative Approaches in Smart Technologies, ISAS 2025 -- Gaziantep -- 211342This paper presents the technical framework of an integrated video analysis platform designed for the automated, real-time detection and classification of human movements. The system leverages the YOLOv81-pose model for robust 2 D human pose estimation, extracting critical upper-body keypoints (shoulders, elbows, wrists) from video streams. Subsequently, a custom-designed feed-forward neural network (specifically, a Multi-Layer Perceptron - MLP) classifies motion patterns based on features engineered from these keypoints. The feature engineering process incorporates normalization relative to body landmarks (inter-shoulder distance and body center) and the computation of relative angles between limb segments, providing pose invariance and discriminative power. The platform employs a modular pipeline encompassing video preprocessing (frame sampling at a target FPS), keypoint extraction with confidence thresholding, feature engineering, and model inference. This structured approach enables the system to accurately classify distinct operational movements, such as 'picking/placing' and 'planting' actions, as demonstrated on custom datasets. While the core components focus on single-stream processing and model training, the platform's modular design supports potential extensions towards distributed architectures for scalable processing of data from multiple camera sources. The developed system holds significant potential for applications in industrial automation, human-robot collaboration, ergonomic assessments, and workplace safety monitoring. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

It is accepted that ?Al? b. Ab? ??lib sent a letter also known in Turkish literature as Amrn?ma, Ahd-n?ma, and Vasiyat-n?ma, to M?lik al-Ashtar, whom he appointed as governor of Egypt. Hüseyin Hüsnü Pasha was a statesman and poet in 19th-century Turkish literature who wrote his poems under the pseudonym Hüsnî and compiled a d?w?n. Hüsnü Pasha translated this work from Arabic into Turkish. He entitled the translation Terceme-i Ahd-i Azîz since he dedicated it to Sultan ?Abd al-?Az?z. The critical analysis of the translation mentioned above and the biography of Hüsnü Pasha constitute the subject of this study. I have located three copies of the above-mentioned translation in manuscript libraries. The present article aims to create a critical text of the above-cited translation based on these copies and, to present the life of Hüsnî through archival documents and some previously overlooked sources. In this context, first of all, the importance of the Turkish tradition of political and advisory texts will be briefly discussed prepare the reader for the subject and to emphasize the importance of Ahdn?me translations. Afterward, in the first part of the present work, brief information will be given about M?lik al-Ashtar and the translations of Ahdn?ma in Turkish literature. In the second part, the biography of Hüsnî will be composed in the light of some archival documents that have not been used before and, Hüsnî’s works will be summarily introduced. The third part is devoted to the analysis of Terceme, which consists of the main subject of this study. In this part, a general examination of the work will be made via the language of the work, its attribution to the author, content, title, and the person to whom it was dedicated will be analyzed. Just before the text section, the three identified manuscripts will be described. Finally, a critical text will be provided over the three manuscript copies that we have identified. In the conclusion, the reasons behind the translation of the Ahd-n?ma will be discussed from a historical perspective and the collective structure of the entire work will be pointed out, as well as further studies on literature. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

How does task complexity affect group processes and dynamics in computer-supported collaborative learning? An analysis of structural relationships between perceived task complexity, group atmosphere, group cohesion, transactive memory

    No full text
Task complexity emerges as one of the factors affecting the computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) process, group dynamics, and processes. Upon reviewing the literature, it becomes apparent that there are conflicting results regarding the impact of escalating task complexity on group dynamics and collaboration processes. The lack of clear findings in the literature on how task complexity affects group processes in CSCL makes instructors uncertain about how to adjust the level of task complexity in CSCL processes. This uncertainty may lead to the negative effects of assigning tasks that are too difficult or too easy on group processes. The starting point of this research is whether giving complex tasks in CSCL improves group dynamics and collaboration. This study aimed to explore the effects of task complexity on group atmosphere, group cohesion, and the group's transactive memory system in CSCL. One distinctive feature of this research within the educational context is the utilization of Zoom as the platform for CSCL. Although Zoom is used extensively for cooperative learning, especially after the pandemic, less research is examining its use in terms of CSCL. Zoom has been widely used due to its ease of use, high speed, and capacity, and CSCL features such as a whiteboard. However, there is a need for research in the literature regarding the collaborative learning process and outcomes using Zoom as a CSCL tool. The research was conducted on 166 university students studying in the field of computer science education. The analysis was carried out in the programming education course, which was taught with the CSCL method. Self-report scales of perceived task complexity, group atmosphere, group cohesion, and transactive memory were used in the research. Path analysis was performed in the study of the data. Research findings show that perceived task complexity greatly influences the transactive memory system. As task complexity decreases, the group's transactive memory system develops. It was seen that the transactive memory system had no effect on group cohesion, and group cohesion had a significant effect on the group atmosphere. Depending on the increase in group cohesion, the group atmosphere develops. Based on the research findings, several recommendations were provided for researchers and educators to manage the structure and processes of CSCL groups and to adjust task complexity.Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye; Strategy Budget Presidency, Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications Specialization Area; Bartin University, Digital Competence Center Project [2021K12-169131-03]Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye, Strategy Budget Presidency, Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications Specialization Area, Bartin University, Digital Competence Center Project. Comparison of high temperature hot corrosion behavior of AlCoCrFeNiTi and AlCoCrFeNiZr high entropy alloy (HEAs) coatings

    No full text
Composite coating technologies used in the aircraft industry are susceptible to hot corrosion damage caused by substandard fuels and harsh environmental conditions. In this context, it is crucial to evaluate the hot corrosion resistance of coating systems and to study the microstructural changes. Recent research has focused on the hot corrosion damage behavior of high entropy alloy (HEAs) coatings in the aircraft industry. In this study, two different HEA coating systems were designed by applying CoNiCrAlY powder, AlCoCrFeNiTi and AlCoCrFeNiZr HEA powders to an Inconel 718 substrate using two thermal spray coating techniques (high velocity oxy fuel (HVOF) and atmospheric plasma spray (APS)). Then, in order to investigate the microstructural changes in the coatings, a salt mixture of 45 % Na2SO4 and 55 % V2O5 was placed on the surface of the coatings and subjected to isothermal hot corrosion experiments at 900 degrees C for 1, 3, 5 and 10 h. Both coating systems exhibited outstanding stability, strength and increased corrosion resistance under high temperature, extremely corrosive conditions, and the damage effect in needle/rod-like hot corrosion was dominated by the formation of Co2VO4 compound as a corrosion product.Council of Higher EducationWe would like to thank the Council of Higher Education for the support of the 100/2000 YOK Doctoral Scholarship
