This book argues that it needs a revision: Although flexicurity is set out to change the way Europeans work and live, and even though it is being justified by workers’ needs, flexicurity lacks of a clear and democratically justified vision of society. Flexicurity is confronted here with Amartya Sen’s capability-approach, a paradigm of well-being evaluation. How is flexicurity related to a concept of employment as part of a way of life which people have reason to value? How capability-friendly are established flexicurity-indicators? It is thus shown how the capability-approach can be used in the field of labour-market and social policy

No full textSoftcover, 17x24Die Frage, welche Inhalte in welcher Form im Generationenverlauf innerfamilial tradiert werden, stellt ein periodisch wiederkehrendes und öffentlich verhandeltes Diskussionsthema dar. In dieser qualitativ angelegten Studie werden familiale Vermittlungs- und Aneignungsprozesse in einer Drei-Generationen-Perspektive unter Berücksichtigung der innerfamilialen Bearbeitung gesellschaftlicher Entwicklungsprozesse in zwei benachbarten Teilregionen untersucht. Hierbei gilt die Aufmerksamkeit nicht nur den Kontinuitäten, sondern auch den Anpassungen und Veränderungen von Formen und Inhalten familialer Tradierung. Die Verknüpfung einer generationellen Perspektive mit Halbwachs’ Überlegungen zum kollektiven Gedächtnis eröffnet dabei mehrere Vergleichsoptionen. Neben der Erfassung familialer, generationeller und regionaler Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede können auf diese Weise die Dynamiken familialer Tradierung herausgearbeitet werden.In this qualitative study, familial mediation and appropriation processes are examined in a three-generation perspective, taking into account the in-family development of social development processes in two neighboring subregions. Attention is given not only to the continuity, but also to the adaptations and changes of the forms and content of family traditioning. The linking of a generational perspective with Halbwachs' considerations of collective memory opens up several comparison options. In addition to capturing familial, generational and regional similarities and differences, the dynamics of familial tradition can be worked out in this way

Didaktik-Geschichte immer wieder unterschiedlich stark akzentuiert wurden, ausführlich diskutiert. Im modernen
Zweit- und Fremdsprachenunterricht werden beide Seiten miteinander verbunden, zum einen durch
die Förderung des selbstgesteuerten Lerners, zum anderen durch die starke Einbindung starrer Unterrichtskonzepte
mithilfe digitaler Medien. Themenschwerpunkt 3 Fach- und berufsbezogene Kommunikation widmet
sich verschiedenen Möglichkeiten, Sprachbarrieren in der fachlichen und beruflichen Handlungskompetenz zu
überwinden, der angesichts zunehmend komplexer Arbeitsabläufe und vielseitiger Formen der Zusammenarbeit
eine immer größere Bedeutung zukommt. Ähnliche, auf den Wissenschaftsbereich bezogene Aspekte
werden im Themenschwerpunkt 4 Wissenschaftssprache und sprachliche Studierfähigkeit diskutiert. Hier wird

Online-Durchsuchung formulierte das Bundesverfassungsgericht im Jahre 2008 erstmals das Grundrecht auf Gewährleistung der Vertraulichkeit und Integrität informationstechnischer Systeme. Das Urteil zog eine enorme Aufmerksamkeit auf sich. Ihm wurde eine dem Volkszählungsurteil vergleichbare Bedeutung für den Datenschutz zugeschrieben. Der genaue Schutzgehalt des Grundrechts blieb jedoch mangels weiterer einschlägiger Rechtsprechung bis heute größtenteils unklar. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht und ergänzt daher zunächst die einzelfallbezogenen Ausführungen des Urteils, um den Schutzgehalt des Grundrechts in verallgemeinerungsfähiger Form zu formulieren. Hierbei wird das Grundrecht in den Grundrechtskatalog eingeordnet und seine maßgebliche Funktion als individuelles Abwehrrecht gegen technische Überwachungsmaßnahmen herausgearbeitet. Auf dieser Grundlage basiert die sich anschließende Prüfung, inwieweit der verfassungsrechtliche Schutzgehalt auf das Rechtsverhältnis zwischen Privaten zu übertragen ist

The Society is a relatively late addition to a series of German societies of science and medicine that began with the »Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geschichte der Medizin und der Naturwissenschaften«, founded in 1910 by Leipzig University's Karl Sudhoff (1853-1938), who wrote: »We want to establish a ,German' society in order to gather German-speaking historians together in our special disciplines so that they form the core of an international society...«. Yet Sudhoff, at this time of burgeoning academic internationalism, was »quite willing« to accommodate the wishes of a number of founding members and »drop the word German in the title of the Society and have it merge with an international society«. The founding and naming of the Society at that time derived from a specific set of historical circumstances, and the same was true some 80 years later when in 1991, in the wake of German reunification, the »Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geschichte und Theorie der Biologie« was founded. From the start, the Society has been committed to bringing studies in the history and philosophy of biology to a wide audience, using for this purpose its Jahrbuch für Geschichte und Theorie der Biologie. Parallel to the Jahrbuch, the Verhandlungen zur Geschichte und Theorie der Biologie has become the by now traditional medium for the publication of papers delivered at the Society's annual meetings. In 2005 the Jahrbuch was renamed Annals of the History and Philosophy of Biology, reflecting the Society's internationalist aspirations in addressing comparative biology as a subject of historical and philosophical studies

In combination with phase sensitive X-ray imaging high contrast for soft tissue structures can be achieved as opposed to CT based on classical radiography. In this work biological samples ranging from micrometer sized single cells over multi-cellular nerve tissue to entire millimeter sized organs are investigated by use of cone-beam propagationbased X-ray phase contrast. Optimization with respect to contrast, resolution and field of view is achieved by addressing instrumentation, sample preparation and phase reconstruction techniques. By using laboratory sources functional soft tissue within the bony capsule of mouse cochleae is visualized in 3D with unprecedented image quality. At synchrotron storage rings the technique reveals more than 1000 axons running in parallel within a mouse nerve and enables doseefficient three-dimensional cellular imaging as well as two-dimensional imaging at high resolutions below 50 nm

Aufgrund des medizinischen Fortschritts ist es möglich, menschliches Leben selbst unter sehr prekären Bedingungen zu erhalten; schwierige Entscheidungen über den weiteren Therapieverlauf sind unausweichlich. Angesichts der Endlichkeit der zur Verfügung stehenden Ressourcen werden mit Entscheidungen zur Therapieverlängerung zugleich heikle Fragen der Verteilungsgerechtigkeit aufgeworfen. Die Versorgung in der letzten Lebensphase ist besonders kostenintensiv. Wenn sehr teure Behandlungen zur Verfügung stehen, kommt es zu Konkurrenzsituationen, die eine Begrenzung („Rationierung“) notwendig macht. Welche Kriterien dürfen dabei aus medizinischer, rechtlicher, ökonomischer und ethischer Sicht herangezogen werden, welche sind möglicherweise problematisch?
