Determination of Financial Distress: Firm Size as Moderating Variable
This study aims to test and analyze financial ratios to predict a company\u27s financial distress, which is moderated by company size with a research population from the property and real estate sub-sector listing on the IDX. The method used was purposive sampling involving 14 companies that became data processing samples with a research range of 2020-2022. In this study, 42 data were obtained, but outliers were made, so the number of samples was 37. The SEM-PLS-based Structural Equation Model with SmartPLS 4.1.0.1 was used to analyze the data. The results of data processing state that CR, ROA, and DAR significantly affect financial distress. At the same time, company size moderates ROA and DAR regarding financial distress. However, company size does not moderate CR in terms of financial distress. Therefore, financial ratios are a benchmark to predict financial stress. Businesses can use the findings of this study to predict financial crises. The earlier the signs of financial distress can be identified; the company management will have the opportunity to find solutions to the problems faced immediately
Empirical Analysis of the AfCFTA in the SADC Region: Evidence using the PPML Estimation Technique
The challenges that small countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) face towards the successful implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) have not been adequately empirically tested to establish if there is scope for mutually beneficial trade among the countries as advocated by AfCFTA’s intra-regional trade promotion. This study employs the gravity model of trade theory. The main objective of this paper is to empirically test if there are mutual gains from intra-regional trade for small countries in the SADC region that face several political, legal, economic, and institutional challenges toward the successful implementation of AfCFTA. This study utilised a modified structural gravity model estimated using the Poisson Pseudo-Maximum-Likelihood (PPML) approach. A balanced panel data from a set of select nine SADC countries over the period 2010-2022 is used. The study finds that distance negatively and significantly affects bilateral trade. In addition, overlapping Regional Economic Community (REC) membership positively influences bilateral trade for small landlocked SADC countries and island nations that have a high trade presence in the region. However, after considering agricultural-dependent nations, overlapping REC membership has a trade-reducing impact. Furthermore, poor institutional quality at the destination country was found to reduce bilateral trade negatively and significantly which eventually increased the overall trade costs. The study recommends AfCFTA members diversify their exports and add value to their agriculture products to adequately benefit from the agreement
Effect of E-procurement on Performance of Construction projects of Counties in Lake Region Economic Bloc, Kenya.
E-procurement is the use of ICT capabilities to decrease the human contact in procurement operations. E-procurement enables users to find goods in electronic catalogs, generate orders, route them for approval, create and transmit orders to suppliers, and automate the invoicing and payment process. The study\u27s major goal was to look at the impact of E-procurement on the performance of construction projects in Kenya\u27s Lake Region Economic Bloc counties. The study used an explanatory research design. A stratified random sampling approach was employed to choose 342 respondents from a target group of 2,346 County officers. Primary data were gathered through interviews and questionnaires. Data was analyzed for inferential as well as descriptive statistics using SPSS version 26 and theme analysis, respectively. E-procurement was established to be a strong predictor of the success of building projects in the Lake Region Economic Bloc counties. Electronic procurement can account for up to 76.2% of the variation in construction project performance (R2=0.762,
Analysis of Financial Distress in Telecommunication Companies in Indonesia Using the Ohlson O-Score and Zmijewski Methods
Currently, major telecommunication sub-sector companies in Indonesia are experiencing rapid growth and have become dominant players in the market. However, not all telecommunication companies are profitable, as some dominant subsidiaries have experienced declining profits or losses, potentially leading to financial distress. Financial distress is a condition where a company is unable to meet its current obligations, such as trade payables, tax liabilities, and short-term debts. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the accuracy of the Ohlson O-Score and Zmijewski methods in detecting financial distress in telecommunication companies in Indonesia. The data used in this study are historical financial data from several telecommunication companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The results show that the Ohlson O-Score is effective in early detection of potential financial distress, while the Zmijewski method is more effective in evaluating companies already in critical financial conditions
Determination of Collective Premiums for Seven Benefits of BPJS Employment Insurance JKK Program Using Poisson-Normal Aggregate Distribution
Work Accident Insurance (JKK) is one of the programs of the Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS) for Employment. Insurance brokers need to make an initial estimate of the premium to determine the collective premium for JKK. Premium calculations can be done using the aggregate distribution method. The total loss of the insurance policy can be owned by the random variable of the aggregate distribution. In calculating the premium using the aggregate distribution, one of the principles that can be used is the standard deviation principle. Based on this principle, the amount of the premium can be calculated by the standard deviation of the aggregate distribution. This study uses the aggregate Poisson-Normal distribution to calculate the collective premium based on the seven benefits of the JKK BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Bojongsoang program. The data used are the number of claim events and the number of claims from the seven benefit claims of JKK BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Bojongsoang participants for the 2022 period. The principle used in calculating the collective premium with the aggregate distribution is the standard deviation principle. The results of the analysis show that the Poisson distribution is followed by claim frequency data and the Normal distribution is followed by the amount of the claim. This study shows that the amount of collective premium calculated tends to be greater than the amount of collective premium sourced from existing data of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Bojongsoang company. It is expected for insurance brokers and insurance companies to consider this study
Financial Distress Prediction Analysis at PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk for 2020-2023 Using the Grover, Taffler and Springate Methods
This study aims to evaluate the potential financial distress of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk during the period 2020-2023 using three prediction models: Grover, Taffler, and Springate. Financial distress is an early sign of financial instability that can lead to bankruptcy, so it is important to analyze it to prevent greater risks. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with secondary data from the company\u27s financial statements. The results of the analysis show that although Garuda Indonesia\u27s financial condition improved in 2021 and 2022, financial stress returned in 2023. The Grover model is more sensitive in identifying financial distress, while the Taffler method tends to be optimistic, and Springate shows more variable results. Based on these findings, companies need to implement more effective financial strategies to maintain their stability and reduce the risk of bankruptcy
The Influence of Product Quality and Electronic Word of Mouth on Customer Loyalty in Skincare Products at Sociolla Cirebon
The skincare industry is undergoing a swift transformation, driven by advancements in active ingredients and technology, resulting in fierce competition as new brands emerge. In this digital landscape, product quality and Electronic Word of Mouth (e-WOM) serve as pivotal forces in cultivating customer loyalty. This study seeks to investigate the influence of these two factors on customer loyalty in skincare products available at Sociolla Cirebon. Employing a quantitative research method with an associative approach, the study surveyed 150 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted via a structured questionnaire encompassing three principal dimensions: product quality, e-WOM, and customer loyalty. A series of statistical analyses were performed, including validity and reliability assessments, multicollinearity and heteroscedasticity tests, multiple linear regression analysis, partial significance testing (T-test), simultaneous significance testing (F-test), and the coefficient of determination (R²) test. The findings reveal that both product quality and e-WOM exert a significant and positive effect on customer loyalty, with an R² value of 0.943, indicating that these variables account for 94.3% of customer loyalty, while the remaining 5.7% is influenced by other factors. These results underscore the necessity of integrating superior product quality with a well-managed e-WOM strategy to fortify customer allegiance in an increasingly competitive market. Consequently, businesses should continuously enhance product quality and strategically utilize e-WOM to sustain and improve customer retention

Analysis of Financial Ratios and ESG on Stock Returns with Firm Value as a Moderating Variable
The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between financial ratios, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors, and the stock returns of 2020–2023 IDX ESG Leaders businesses, controlling for company valuation. We use a quantitative descriptive approach with a 26-company purposive sample. Using SPSS, we ran multiple linear regressions on the secondary data. In order to ensure that the findings are still valid, we eliminated one outlier. Stock returns are unaffected by ESG Disclosure, ROA, or DER, but are significantly impacted negatively by Current Ratio (CR). According to the moderation test, the impact of ROA on stock returns can only be mitigated by considering corporate value. Therefore, a high level of profitability backed by a solid firm value may make investors more interested. The research here is time-bound, and it relies on secondary ESG data. It would be wise to include more variables and data in the future. Investors and management may use these results as a benchmark for evaluating stock performance and highlighting the need of increasing business transparency and value
