This paper critically examines the geopolitical and geo-economic ramifications of the United States' Rebalancing Strategy and China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for Pakistan. The US rebalancing approach is principally targeted at counterbalancing China's ascendancy as the world's second-largest economy. Through the recalibration of its foreign policy, the US seeks to reassert its influence within China's peripheral regions by leveraging military, economic, and diplomatic instruments of statecraft. This strategic maneuvering holds significant implications for Pakistan's foreign policy calculus, necessitating a nuanced understanding of the complex interplay between these competing geopolitical interests. China initiated BRI which is perceived by the US as a counterbalancing strategy to its rebalancing strategy, aiming to establish China's economic centrality in the region. BRI promotes regional economic connectivity and integration through transportation, communications, and energy corridors. For Pakistan, BRI presents geo-political challenges and opportunities, particularly through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Effective mechanisms are necessary to capitalize on BRI's opportunities, enhancing Pakistan's regional strategic relevance. This study aims to explore the possible outcomes of Sino-US competition, geopolitical motivations involving US rebalancing and BRI, and prospects and Challenges for Pakistan. The research employs an explanatory, descriptive, and analytical approach, offering policy recommendations for Pakistan and key regional stakeholders. Keywords: US Rebalancing, BRI, CPEC, China, India, Pakistan

Sufism encompasses the process of the exploration of truths through Dhikr (invocation of God’s name), silent meditation and friendship with the Divine and offers the way to spiritual serenity. These practices stress the purity of the spirit and the desire to free itself from earthly afflictions that help to reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Sections concerning patience and gratitude complement those preached on contentment and strengthen individuals to effectively deal with life events and boost their mental health. It should also be noted that not only are there personal psychological benefits of Sufism, but there are also social and emotional aspects in the understanding of the phenomenon. The community undertones of Sufism also thus any the negative effects associated with loneliness and isolation. Social interactions through participation in Majalis and prayers create supportive social relations and help the people emotionally. Thus, this communal aspect of Sufism is useful to provide people with well-being in addition to being useful in terms of social integration because it decreases feelings of social dissatisfaction and loneliness. Furthermore, Sufi ideals of an individual’s moral and spiritual regeneration, therefore, can serve as a remedy for ethical degeneration and religious malaise in modern society. Thus, the application of spirituality, exemplified by Sufism, to solve psychological issues, supports the idea of the significance of Sufism in the contemporary world from both religious and practical points of view

Sufism, in its various forms, exists across many religions, aiming to purify the self, attain inner cleansing, and promote moral excellence. In Islamic mysticism, these characteristics are rooted in virtuous ethics, detachment from worldly pursuits, and dedication to serving humanity. Often termed as "Tasawwuf," Islamic mysticism aligns with concepts such as ethics, ihsan (spiritual perfection), and tazkiyah (purification), all with the shared objective of heart purification and closer proximity to God. This study examines the tradition of mysticism in Abrahamic religions (Islam, Christianity, Judaism), focusing on specific expressions within each, like Kabbalah in Judaism, monasticism in Christianity, and Sufism in Islam. The research highlights that while mysticism across these faiths shares foundational principles, such as divine love and high moral standards, there are distinctive differences in approach and philosophy. Using an analytical and comparative methodology, this paper aims to address existing research gaps in the study of mysticism in these faiths. It reviews prior literature, discussing themes like the influence of non-Islamic traditions on Sufism, as well as the teachings of Sufi saints in the subcontinent. In Islamic Sufism, central themes such as love for God, obedience to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, self-purification, tolerance, and community service are emphasized. The findings conclude that the core teachings of mysticism are similar across these religions, although each religion incorporates its unique characteristics into its mystical practices. This paper contributes to a better understanding of the common and distinctive aspects of mysticism within the Abrahamic faiths, particularly Islamic Sufism, offering insights into both shared values and philosophical differences.
