    No full text
History testifies that women were oppressed for a long period of time. Greece, Egypt, Rome, in every nation and in every continent, women were tyrannized. Men would buy and sell the women to fulfil their own pleasures of life. The Arabs even considered the women a cause of shame and used to bury the young girls alive. No social status was given to the women in most of the world's civilizations. Islam not only gave women the right to survive but also determined their status as a mother, daughter, wife and sister. By confirming their religious, social, economic, legal and administrative role, Islam guaranteed their rights. As a result, a civilization was created in which women were considered an important part of the society. The Prophet ﷺ elevated women to the highest possible level of dignity and greatness. The women were also entitled to the rights of dower, alimony, respect and honor. As mothers, they were conferred a great status and paradise was laid under their feet. The obedience of one’s mother was made the source of success in this world and the hereafter. Islam instructed to make sure a proper upbringing and education for women as daughters. It acknowledged their right of property and intervention in this right was held to be unlawful. It set the stoning and other adultery punishments for criminals in order to protect chastity and honour of women.Their testimony was acknowledged as rightful. They were allowed to preach the religion of Islam. The importance of women's rights in the foundation of the modern Muslim state is recognized as true, provided that the establishment and provision of the rights are in accordance with the Islamic teachings. In this article, women’s rights will be described in the light of Islamic teachings

The concept of Shura (mutual consultation) holds a significant place in Islamic governance, as emphasized in the Quranic verse, "Wa Amruhum Shura Baynahum" (Al-Shura: 38). This study delves into the historical foundations of Shura, tracing its application from the era of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to modern governance structures. It highlights the integration of consultative decision-making in Pakistan’s democratic system, where the parliamentary structure embodies elements of Shura through legislative processes. However, the study identifies challenges in the practical application of this principle, such as political instability, lack of transparency, and bureaucratic hurdles. Drawing on historical references and contemporary governance models, the research underscores the importance of strengthening consultative practices for better governance. The findings suggest that reinforcing Shura-based decision-making in Pakistan’s political and administrative framework can lead to enhanced public trust, efficient policymaking, and a more just society. The study recommends institutional reforms, increased civic participation, and adherence to Islamic consultative ethics to ensure a truly representative governance system. Ultimately, adopting Shura in its true spirit can bridge the gap between Islamic principles and modern political frameworks, ensuring that governance remains transparent, accountable, and inclusive for all.

An Analytical Comparative Approach to Identify Underlying Ideologies in Inflating Family Disintegration & Media in West & Pakistan: Implications for Policy Makers

    Get PDF
The research study presents the growing patterns of family life in Pakistan that imply the influential role of the underlying cultural ideals of liberalism and individualism and the moderating effect exerted by media. This is an analytical study that employs data to inquire how the disguised ideologies of the West have influenced domestic life there and imprinted the same pattern in Pakistan’s society. This paper investigates whether the concepts of empowerment and independence contribute to isolation within familial relationships. Several factors that lead to disintegrated families, including atomistic and nuclear family trends and the role increasingly played by modern individualism, foreign media, and culture due to growing detachment from religion, are highlighted in this study. Family members’ preference for individualistic space results in breaking the family bond - a phenomenon that America has witnessed and is affecting the domestic and social institutions of Pakistan

من سردية المعنى إلى سردية الوجود: قراءة في المشروع التأليفي والترجمي لسعيد بنكراد: From the Narrative of Meaning to the Narrative of Existence: A Reading of the Compositional and Translational Project of Said Benkirane"

"Semiology, as a postmodern approach, is a science concerned with signs and significations, initiated by Ferdinand de Saussure, who presented the subject in its structural form. The structural treatment was the main impetus for addressing it and exploring the linguistic sign in relation to society, which heralded the innovative cultural production of this new science, which was named 'semiology.' Moroccan critics quickly recognized it, such as Mohammed El-Boukri, Said Benkraâ, and other researchers who carried the torch of leadership in this field. Said Benkraâ states: 'At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Swiss linguist Saussure heralded the birth of a new science called 'semiology,' whose mission will be to study the life of signs within social life.' Saussure regarded language as a human activity that transcends its linguistic existence, which can only be considered a means of equal importance. For this researcher, language is a phenomenon that enjoys a special status; he saw it as the most significant of these systems. Indeed, language is the only tool through which the universe is perceived, a perception that quickly shifted semiotics from its linguistic and language domain to the cultural realm by focusing on the text as a cultural system in relation to other systems. This marked the emergence of cultural semiotics, which sprang from the philosophy of symbolic forms, beginning with 'semiosis to the semiotic space.'

الاتجاهات الفكرية والفلسفية الإسلامية في مواجهة الاستراتيجيات العالمية المعاصرة : Islamic intellectual and philosophical trends in the face of contemporary global strategies

    No full text
This study aims to examine the Islamic intellectual and philosophical trends in confronting the challenges posed by contemporary global strategies, particularly in the context of globalization and the digital age. The research highlights how the Islamic worldview, rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, does not reject modern developments but seeks to provide ethical and epistemological alternatives that preserve the identity and civilizational balance of the Muslim community. Historically, Islamic philosophy has established a holistic vision of humanity based on the principles of moderation, justice, and human dignity—principles that remain relevant in offering critical foundations against material hegemony and dominant Western intellectual paradigms in politics, economics, and media. The study also explores the contributions of contemporary Muslim thinkers and philosophers who employ maqāṣid al-sharīʿah (objectives of Islamic law) and Islamic philosophical reasoning to address issues such as consumerism, environmental justice, and social fragmentation in the digital economy. Thus, the paper provides an analytical perspective that integrates Islamic authenticity with a critical engagement of global issues, emphasizing that Islamic thought continues to enrich global philosophical discourse and present a viable civilizational alternative

Sonographic correlation of umbilical cord and umbilical vein diameter with fetal weight

    No full text
Estimating fetal weight is an important step for smooth and easy delivery the fetus, as approximation of fetal weight is necessary to plan the mode of delivering the baby thus facilitating the process both for the mother and the child.  To correlate the method of predicting weight of the fetus by umbilical cord and its vein diameter. It was a cross sectional analytical study directed at The University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. The study was taken place for 12 months for which 200 women in their antenatal period were recruited. Convenient sampling technique was used and surveyed up to the date of delivery for actual weight at time of the birth. Paired t-test and the regression analysis was applied. The study concluded that the umbilical cord and the vein diameter serve as the major contributory factors in the fetal weight estimation by sonographic method. These methods are more accurate and easier as compared to the other methods implemented in the clinical practice until a few decades ago. Therefore, there is a need that clinical practices are modified and fetal weight estimates are done by using the umbilical cord and vein diameter to achieve better health outcomes for both mothers and children by pre planning the delivery method based on weight estimation of fetus

Migraines place a heavy burden on sufferers—both personally and in terms of reduced activity and personal suffering—as well as on society—due to the high expense of the condition. Migraine is ranked as the most burdensome neurological disorder to society by the World Health Organization, and the sixth highest cause of disability worldwide. This indicates that migraine has become increasingly burdensome on an international scale, which hinders the routine functioning and processes of patients. One of the more recent psychological viewpoints on the migraine issue is the connection between migraine and mental health problems. Objective: Objective of the present research is to find out the participants’ experiences and cultural expression of psychological problems associated with migraine. Method: Qualitative research method was used, and data was collected through in-depth interviews with 14 migraine patients taken from different hospitals in Punjab province.  The data was analyzed by using thematic analysis. Results: Inductive thematic analysis approach was carried out on the responses given by the migraine patients to identify the major themes. The analysis resulted in 3 super-ordinate themes (Anxiety Related Problems, Depression Related Issues, Negative (emotions/thoughts), 8 themes (Cognitive impairment, Behavioral manifestation, Physiological indicators, Decline in cognitive abilities, Behavioral expression, Physiological problems, Negative thoughts, Negative emotions) and 30 subthemes. Conclusion: The findings of this study underscore the significant impact of migraines on patients’ mental health, revealing a heightened prevalence of anxiety, depression, and negative thoughts and emotions among individuals grappling with this chronic condition

    Get PDF
Objective: This study served as an effort to evaluate the relationship between economic growth, corruption and deterrence against white collar crime along with traditional factor inputs like labor and capital especially in context of Pakistan. Research Gap: Countries always tend to formulate economic policies that will contribute to high economic growth rates. Apart from economic factors there are certain for economic growth there are non-economic factors which had played a significant role in achieving high living standards amongst which deterrence against white collar crimes is our focus. Very few studies had been conducted that determine the impact of this factor on economic growth in Pakistan. Design/Methodology/Approach: To determine how corruption and the prevention of white-collar crime affect Pakistan's economic development Neo-Classical Growth Model has been applied. Using secondary data over a 20-year period, from 2001 to 2020, the log-linear model regression has been utilized to assess the association between economic growth and corruption and deterrence related to white collar crime in Pakistan. The Main Findings: The estimates suggest that traditional input variables, such as Labor and capital, positively impact GDP growth. However, the apparent insignificance of capital stock might result from a lack of necessary skills in the labor force. To address this, labor force skills should be enhanced through technical and vocational training. A favorable position in the Corruption Perception Index, along with deterrence factors like the fear of being caught also positively contribute to GDP growth. Convicting corrupt individuals increases the fear of consequences, discouraging future involvement in corruption. As a country embraces transparency, it fosters higher economic growth. Theoretical / Practical Implications of the Findings: This paper concludes that deterrence i.e. fear of being caught for having committed organized crime restrains corrupt elements from involvement in white collar crimes and contributes in economic growth. The paper further concludes that skilled and educated labor force also contributes in economic growth through efficient utilization of capital stock. Originality/Value: This study not only models the effects of labor and capital but also endeavors to integrate the influence of accountability on overall economic growth

    Get PDF
Objective: The present study focuses on measuring efficiency of district courts of Punjab, Pakistan taking into consideration various measures of productivity. Research Gap: To our knowledge, quantitatively analysis of these issues is not done so far dealing the efficiency issue of the Justice System both at higher and lower level of Judiciary in Pakistan. Therefore, this study embraces this novelty in itself by measuring the efficiency of lower courts in Punjab’ judiciary system considering the judges’ caseloads, administrative staff, and court expenses. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study adopted frontier approach i.e., Data Envelopment Analysis for the calculation of efficiency estimates for 36 Districts of Punjab using the dataset of the year 2020-21. The Main Findings: Registration (Filing) of new cases in civil courts is found to be the most restrictive exogenous factors causing delays in the case disposition. Theoretical / Practical Implications of the Findings: The most important implication of this study is to highlight the existing bottlenecks in the courts at district level. By calculating pure, overall and scale efficiency of courts, the judicial bodies can have better understanding whether it’s the issue of human and physical resources or the size of courts itself causing high rate of pendency of cases in district courts of Punjab. Originality/Value: This study is innovative in its issue and approach to discuss the quality of judicial services. So far there is no empirical estimation of efficiency of courts of Pakistan at District level. Hence this shows a significant contribution of this study in existing literature

The purpose of this research paper is to describe "Rights of the State, in the light of the state of Medina. Actually, in Islam, Rights of the state depends on enjoining good and forbidding evil. It does not take strength/power to command well, but it takes strength/power to prevent evil. And its establishment was a part of the official duties of prophet-hood for which Muhammad (SAW) had devoted all his energies. The Charter of Medina was implemented for this purpose; opposition from the enemy eventually forced him to defend himself by being imprisoned inside Medina. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) also missed four prayers while defending the state. He also deported three jewish tribes for violating the Medina Charter. External forces also played a role in the deterioration of the Islamic states’s internal affairs. These were also remedied by Muhammad (SAW) and his Caliphates from time to time
