کتب حدیث پر جنوبی پنجاب کے علماء کی منتخب اردو شروحات کا تعارفی جائزہ: An Introductory Review of Selected Urdu Commentaries on Hadith Literature by Scholars of South Punjab

    No full text
After the Holy Qur’an, the Hadith constitutes the second fundamental source of the sacred Sharia’h, divinely entrusted to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by Allah Almighty to elucidate and interpret the Qur’anic text. Just as the Qur’an is preserved due to its status as revealed scripture, so too it was imperative given that the Prophet ﷺ was the bearer of revelation that the Hadith and the blessed Seerah remain equally safeguarded. Consequently, the scholars of Hadith dedicated their entire lives to the preservation and propagation of the noble Hadith. In pursuit of this, they not only compiled the Prophetic narrations using diverse methodological approaches and frameworks but also established rigorous principles and legal standards to ensure the integrity of the tradition. Furthermore, in every era, numerous scholars produced commentaries, glosses, and annotations to clarify and interpret the Hadith, thereby facilitating lay comprehension and accessibility of its teachings. Within Pakistan, particularly in South Punjab, numerous scholars have made significant contributions toward the explanation, exposition, and elucidation of the Hadith. Some authored marginalia and annotations on canonical Hadith texts and volumes, while others composed independent treatises devoted exclusively to Hadith studies. In this research paper, a concise introductory and stylistic review of Urdu annotations and marginal glosses on Hadith works authored by scholars from South Punjab

Rationality in Prophetic Discourse: A Critical Study of Argumentation and Persuasion in the Seerah ﷺ

    No full text
This study critically examines rational argumentation and persuasion in the Prophetic discourse as recorded in the Seerah, highlighting its distinctive blend of logical reasoning, ethical appeal, emotional resonance, and contextual adaptability. Using analytical, historical, and rhetorical methods, the research explores key case studies, including debates with Quraysh leaders, dialogues with the People of the Book, and communication with followers, to illustrate how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ engaged audiences through reasoned argument, moral integrity, and empathetic interaction. The findings demonstrate that Prophetic communication not only aligns with certain principles of contemporary rational discourse, such as Habermas Ian communicative action, but also offers unique insights by integrating spiritual and ethical dimensions often absent in secular models. A comparative analysis with Greek rhetorical traditions reveals that, unlike their ethically neutral focus on persuasive skill, Prophetic reasoning emphasized truthfulness, ethical transformation, and voluntary acceptance. The study concludes that Prophetic discourse provides valuable lessons for modern religious communication, interfaith dialogue, conflict resolution, and addressing scepticism in increasingly pluralistic and secular contexts. It further recommends that future research explore comparative interreligious rhetorical models and examine the application of Prophetic communication methods in contemporary digital and media-based dawah initiatives

خطبہ حجۃ الوداع کا مصداق، انسانی حقوق سے متعلق مضامین کی قرآنی تائید اور انسانی تاریخ کی روشنی میں سماج پر اس کے اثرات کا علمی جائزہ: An Analytical Study of the Farewell Sermon as a Source of Human Rights: Its Quranic Endorsement and Societal Impacts in the Light of Human History

    No full text
This research examines the varying narrations regarding the Farewell Sermon (Khutbah Hajjatul Wida') of the Rasool ﷺ, where different locations and days are mentioned — such as the day before Yawm al-Tarwiyah, Yawm al-Arafah, Yawm al-Nahr, and the middle days of Tashreeq. A critical evaluation of these traditions reveals that the Farewell Sermon is best understood as a "comprehensive set of instructions" delivered during the Prophet’s final pilgrimage. Although many hadith scholars, biographers, and historians have recorded narrations related to the Farewell Sermon, their accounts include weak, unauthenticated, and historically inaccurate reports — some of which pertain to earlier events yet are mistakenly associated with the Farewell Pilgrimage. In this research, only authentic and widely accepted narrations from reputable hadith and Seerah sources have been selected, focusing exclusively on the human rights aspects presented within the sermon. Given the global discourse on human rights, it is crucial to address certain areas where Islamic legal principles are often perceived to conflict with modern human rights frameworks — such as punishments for apostasy, consensual adultery, and the implementation of Hudood and Qisas laws. This divergence primarily stems from the difference in sources: secular laws are rooted in materialism, absolute rationalism, and societal desires, whereas Islamic Shariah is founded upon divine revelation, scholarly consensus, the objectives of Shariah, sound intellect, and recognized Islamic customs. This study aims to highlight the distinct philosophical bases underlying Islamic and secular conceptions of human rights

From Remittances to Renovations: Analyzing the Impact of Overseas Transfers on Construction Industry of Pakistan

    No full text
Objective: This study aims to analyze the impact of remittance inflows on the construction industry in Pakistan from 1973 to 2020. Research Gap: The international diaspora has steadily retained a strong relationship with their families in their home countries through the provision of remittances. These remittances are important financial inflows, impacting various macroeconomic variables through consumption and investment channels. However, the specific influence of remittances on the construction industry remains underexplored. Methodology: Autoregressive distributed lag model explores the long-run relationship among the concerned variables, while short-run results are analyzed through the error correction mechanism. The Main Findings: The long-run findings indicate that GDP growth rate, external loans, scheduled bank advances to the construction industry, remittances, inflation, and value of the rupee against the dollar demonstrate a positive and statistically significant effect on the construction industry. A 1% increase in remittances boosts construction activities by 0.08%. Practical Implications of the Findings: The results suggest that policy frameworks should be adopted to attract remittance inflows, fostering economic development, improving living standards, and generating employment opportunities. Value:  Provision of adequate policy support for remitters, ensuring that remittance-driven investments are maximized to benefit Pakistan’s economic landscape

Ignaz Goldziher and Theodor Nöldeke on Revelation: A Critical Study in Light of Classical Muslim Scholarship

    No full text
In this paper the discussion will be critical on opinions expressed by Ignaz Goldziher and Theodor Nöldeke on the concept of revelation among the Muslims, especially the Quran. The two scholars are amongst the pioneers of the Western study of Islam who have made a tremendous contribution to the academic interpretation of the Islamic literature of the recent time. Goldziher took revelation as psychological and sociological process and observed it in the context of history development and culture. Nodleke, however was concerned with the chronological and stylistic development of the Quran and suggested an organized sequence of revelation founded on the linguistic and thematic factors. This paper draws comparisons of their theories and the views of classical Muslim thinkers, including al Tabari, Fakhr al-Din al-Razi and Qadi Iyad. These ancient scholars present a comprehensive, theological, and spiritually based interpretation of revelation based on the Quran and the Hadith. The work identifies the way that the orientalist approach tends to become discontinuous with the internal epistemology of Islamic tradition, often being the symptom of Eurocentric different types of assumptions and intellectual trends of the 19th century Europe. The paper will endeavor to explore in a balanced and critical manner the way in which revelation is perceived within and without the Islamic intellectual tradition by involving both the western and Islamic sources. It finds that some of the orientalist contributions do add value to the academic discourse but they do not always have the depth of context that can be traced in the classical Islamic scholarly work. This study ends up supporting the usefulness of dialogical working and methodological impartiality in researching religious text and customs

How Green Organizational Culture Influences Green Entrepreneurial Orientation and Green Innovation in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises

    No full text
This study paper analyzes the effect of Green Organizational Culture (OGC) on Green Entrepreneurial Orientation (GEO) and Green Innovation (GI), as well as their combined influence on Green Performance (GP) in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The urgent challenges of climate change, environmental deterioration, and heightened consumer consciousness regarding sustainability have compelled companies to reevaluate conventional business structures. Although major firms possess the capacity to tackle these difficulties, SMEs encounter structural limitations; still, their impact on economies and communities renders their green transformation imperative. This study employed a quantitative research design to gather data from 230 SMEs in Multan, Pakistan, a region contending with environmental degradation, including deforestation, industrial pollution, and unsustainable farming practices. OGC, GEO, GI, and GP constructs were assessed utilizing validated scales, and the data were analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results indicated that OGC substantially influences GEO and GI, whereas GEO subsequently propels GI. Consequently, GI directly improves GP across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The findings substantiate the Resource-Based View (RBV) hypothesis, emphasizing intangible resources—such as cultural alignment and entrepreneurial proactivity—as essential assets for enduring competitive advantage. The paper offers theoretical insights by situating the dynamics of OGC, GEO, and GI inside South Asian SMEs, where empirical information is scarce. Recommendations entail enhancing leadership dedication to sustainability, offering training and incentives for environmentally conscious entrepreneurship, and integrating eco-innovation into strategic planning

    No full text
The purpose of this study is to explore the determinants that predict the academic use of SNSs among University of Kotli, AJK students. It analyzes important predictors and intends to suggest how SNSs can facilitate better learning and enhance the results of our educational efforts. In particular, it investigates how PU and PEOU influence students’ behavioral intentions to use and actual usage of SNSs for academic purposes. With reference to the TAM3, seventeen hypotheses were proposed.A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 367 students selected by random method. All items were scaled using 5-point Likert scale. Visits to classrooms and libraries were used to augment survey completion. A pilot was performed to check reliability and validity prior to full-scale data collection. Scales were developed and items analyzed using SPSS version 22, while testing of the hypotheses was done by structural equation modeling as well as confirmatory factor analysis through AMOS version 24.Fifteen of the seventeen hypotheses were confirmed. PU-related factors (i.e., subjective norm, image, job relevance, output quality and result demonstrability) were also statistically significant. Both PU and PEOU affected BI to use SNSs for academic purpose which in turn impacted actual usage, with the support of TAM3. Two hypotheses were not supported, including the impacts of computer anxiety and direct effect between objective usability and PEOU. While PEOU is still a crucial factor, several external motives may affect students’ intentions and their academic use of SNSs.This study provides empirical evidence on the predictors of academic SNS use in university students of AJK. The results offer a basis for the formulation of institutional strategies and programs to improve learning through digital media in Pakistan.  The study has several limitations. It was, in the first place, a single area study and therefore not generalizable while further studies at other universities should be conducted within the country. Second, differences across disciplinary use of SNS were not explored; such comparison by academic major might provide a more nuanced picture. Lastly, we did not consider the effects of cultural values and personal level factors on SNS adoption and future research may pay attention to these dimensions

Morpho-physiological dynamics of plants to heat stress and Si induced thermo-tolerance

    No full text
Heat stress, resulting from global warming, is the foremost abiotic risk to crop development, yield and productivity. Heat stress adversely affects plant growth and development at every stage of their life cycle, from germination to reproductive development, fueling food insecurity. Therefore, sustainable and eco-friendly solutions are needed to make plants resilient to heat stress. Plants respond to heat stress by initiating a series of physiological, biochemical, and molecular response and adapt by activating many stress-responsive genes. Cuticles, helps the plants to reduce the absorption of solar radiation. Intensive transpiration in well hydrated plants also protect the plants from heat stress. Recent findings have established Silicon (Si) as an essential stress relieve element in plants, which protect it against numerous biotic and abiotic stresses. It is involved in root growth, transportation and uptake of essential nutrients, activities of key enzymes, carbon assimilation, enhance ROS scavenging, upregulate the linker histone, and modulates intercellular signaling by triggering phyto-hormones and antioxidant enzymes. Si has indirect effect on the expression of stress-responsive transcription factors and stress-associated genes and proteins like heat shock proteins (HSPs) which is involved in modulating the tolerance of the plant under stress. Technological advancement has enabled the in-depth characterization of Si involvement in flowering, pollen tube growth, and fertilization. Transcriptomic analysis has revealed the large number of Si-responsive transcripts, highlighting its regulatory role at molecular level. In the present scenario, there is a need for developing Si-based technology to enhance plant tolerance against heat stress without compromising plant growth and quality. Therefore, this review focus on the adverse effect of heat stress on plants and highlighted recent advancements of Si induced heat tolerance in plants and how Si can effectively contribute to crop production and act as a bio-stimulant for future-oriented sustainable agriculture under raising threat of climate change
