Abstract: The science of Qawāʿid Fiqhiyyah (Islamic legal maxims) is a foundational pillar in the legal structure of Islamic jurisprudence. The deeper one’s mastery of this discipline, the more profound and structured their understanding of Islamic law becomes. Recognized not only as a core component of Shariah, but also as a highly engaging and practical field, Qawāʿid Fiqhiyyah has consistently drawn the attention of classical and contemporary jurists alike. In modern times, it has regained its central importance, serving as an efficient tool in addressing newly emerging legal challenges. While its early development was intertwined with the broader evolution of Fiqh, it was later systematically compiled and independently taught. Today, it stands as a revitalized and essential area within contemporary Islamic legal thought. Numerous dedicated works and encyclopedias have been authored in the field, and it has been integrated into the curricula of many Islamic universities, with particular emphasis placed on general maxims and selected specialized rules. This study emphasizes the urgent need to systematically collect, authenticate, and organize the most significant legal maxims across various branches of Islamic jurisprudence. Such thematic classification will enable students to develop a solid foundational understanding of each domain of Fiqh through comprehensive legal principles, allowing them to advance their scholarly development within any specialized field. The paper explores the concept and contemporary relevance of Qawāʿid Fiqhiyyah, highlighting their crucial role in organizing legal rulings within a coherent and principled framework. These maxims equip jurists with a powerful methodology for deriving rulings in a structured, efficient, and consistent manner, thereby enhancing the relevance and applicability of Islamic law in the modern era

Leapfrogging Digital Development: A Quantile Regression Analysis of Quality of Life and Digitalization

    No full text
Objective: This study investigates the relationship between digitalization and quality of life (QOL) for a global sample of 185 countries from 1990 to 2023. The main objective of the study is to tests the validity of the leapfrogging proposition in the context of digitalization and QOL. Research Gap: The existing literature generally overlooks the examination of the leapfrogging hypothesis while focusing on the relationship between digitalization and QOL. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study employs fixed effects model, system generalized method of moments and panel quantile regression approaches. The Main Findings: The empirical findings show that digitalization has a positive and significant influence on QOL while controlling for income, age dependency, urbanization, and pollution with alternative estimation techniques. The findings also show that all dimensions of digitalization positively influence QOL in high-income and middle-income countries, suggesting that digitalization complements already established old infrastructure and technologies. However, in the case of low-income countries, mobile phone (modern technology) significantly enhances QOL while fixed telephone (old technology) is either insignificant or negatively associated with QOL, suggesting some relevance of the leapfrogging pattern. It follows that poor countries can leapfrog traditional capital-intensive technology and can focus on the latest technologies for improvement in QOL and wellbeing (SDG-3). Theoretical / Practical Implications of the Findings: This study concludes that digitalization is imperative to enhance QOL; however, its context may vary across alternative forms of digitalization and stages of development. Hence, policymakers need to be careful while designing policies for human and digital development

The Influence of Islamic Environment Buddhism and Hinduism in Multan

    No full text
Multan, historically known as an important cultural and religious crossroads, is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon. During the early Islamic conquests and the subsequent establishment of Muslim rule in the region, Multan became a melting pot of diverse religious traditions. This interaction led to a unique syncretism, where Islamic influences permeated local Buddhist and Hindu practices. Islamic architecture, art, and religious practices influenced local temple designs and the devotional practices of Hinduism and Buddhism. Meanwhile, Islamic mysticism, particularly Sufism, found resonance with the existing spiritual traditions, leading to an exchange of ideas and practices. The result was a region where religious boundaries were fluid, and the coexistence of different faiths led to mutual adaptation and cultural enrichment. This abstract explores the dynamics of this cultural intermingling, highlighting the ways in which Islamic thought, art, and architecture shaped the development of Buddhism and Hinduism in Multan, while also considering how these religions influenced the Islamic environment in return

The Qur’anic Concept of Fitrah and Its Implications for Early Childhood Development

    No full text
This study explores the Qur’anic concept of Fitrah, the innate disposition with which every human is created and its implications for early childhood development. While the term appears in the holy Qur’an and has been discussed by classical scholars such as al-Ghazali and Ibn Taymiyyah, its direct connection to contemporary understandings of child psychology remains underdeveloped. This research examines Qur’anic verses and related Hadith to clarify the meaning of Fitrah, and reviews interpretations in major works of Tafsir. It then places these insights in dialogue with modern theories of childhood development, particularly those of Piaget, Erikson, and Montessori. By comparing Islamic and contemporary perspectives, the study highlights how Fitrah provides a foundation for understanding children’s moral, cognitive, and spiritual growth. The findings suggest that recognizing and nurturing Fitrah can enrich early education and parenting practices, contributing a background that values both faith and human potential. In conclusion, this research argues that an integrated approach to child development, one that respects the Qur’anic idea of Fitrah while engaging with modern psychology, can contribute to more holistic models of education in Muslim contexts

مصنوعی ذہانت اور تبلیغِ دین: اسلامی علوم کی روشنی میں مواقع، چیلنجز اور مقاصدِ شریعہ پر مبنی ایک تحقیقی جائزہ: Artificial Intelligence & the Preaching of Islam: An Analytical Study of Opportunities, Challenges & Maqasid al-Shariah in the Light of Islamic Sciences

    No full text
This extensive research paper explores the multifaceted intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Islamic practice of Da'wah (inviting to Islam). In an era dominated by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, AI presents both unprecedented opportunities and significant challenges for the dissemination of the Islamic message. This paper, synthesizing insights from a diverse body of contemporary Muslim scholarship, provides a comprehensive analysis of AI's potential role in transforming global Da'wah efforts. The primary argument is that AI, if developed and implemented within a robust ethical framework derived from Maqasid al-Shari'ah (the higher objectives of Islamic Law), can serve as a powerful tool for good. The paper examines several practical applications of AI, including the development of intelligent Da'wah platforms and chatbots capable of providing instant, multilingual, and context-aware responses to queries about Islam; the use of advanced translation and content generation technologies, such as holography, to overcome linguistic and geographical barriers; and the critical role of AI in knowledge verification, particularly in the sciences of Hadith and manuscript studies, to combat misinformation and ensure authenticity. However, the paper also critically addresses the inherent challenges. It delves into the problem of algorithmic bias, the ethical dilemmas of attributing religious authority to machines, and the indispensable need for human oversight by qualified scholars. Drawing upon the principles of Hifz al-Din (Preservation of Religion) and Hifz al-'Aql (Preservation of Intellect), it argues that AI must function as an aid to, not a replacement for, human scholars and preachers. The research concludes that while AI technologies like ChatGPT show promise as research assistants, their current limitations prevent them from undertaking independent jurisprudential reasoning (Ijtihad) or issuing fatwas. The path forward lies in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between Islamic scholars and AI experts to build systems that are not only technologically advanced but also deeply rooted in the ethical and spiritual traditions of Islam, ensuring that this powerful technology is harnessed to serve humanity and promote a true understanding of the faith

تفسیری طریقہ کا ر کاجائزہ: اہم قرآنی مصطلحات کی قادیانی تعبیرات کاتنقیدی مطالعہ : Evaluating Interpretive Methodology: A Critical Study of Qadiani Readings of Key Quranic Terms

    No full text
The article provides a detailed analysis of Qur’anic hermeneutics by examining sound interpretive methods in contrast to the flawed exegetical approaches employed by heterodox groups, including the Qadiani/Ahmadi movement. The text starts by describing the linguistic and technical elements of ta’wīl, together with its necessary conditions, and the vital academic qualifications that enable proper interpretation. The research shows that various historical deviant groups, such as ḥadīth deniers and rationalist innovators and modernists, have misused Qur’anic language to prove their existing beliefs. The main focus of this study is to investigate how the Qadiani group interprets fundamental Qur’anic terms, including nabī, khātam al-nabiyyīn, mutawaffīka, khala, yawm al-dīn, and al-ḍāllīn. The article uses classical exegesis and linguistic sources, together with authoritative works by Shaykh Meher Ali Shah, Ibn Kathīr, al-Ṭabarī, and al-Qurṭubī, to prove that Qadiani readings oppose linguistic usage and prophetic traditions, as well as Muslim scholarly consensus. The defense of prophet hood’s finality stands as the main focus, together with the belief in Jesus' ascension and his second coming, and the traditional interpretations of end-time events. The research shows that Islamic doctrine requires authentic interpretive methods to protect itself from doctrinal deviation
