The Effectiveness of Innovative Blended Learning Through Meaning (IBLTM) Model to Improve Students' Science Literacy
Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Innovative Blended Learning Through Meaning Model (IBLTM) in improving students' scientific literacy at Muhammadiyah 2 High School Sidoarjo. Method: This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest and posttest design. The subjects of this study were 22 students of class X-1 who participated in learning using the IBLTM Model. Data was collected through a science literacy test instrument in 12 descriptive questions covering six indicators of science literacy. Results: The results of the data analysis showed that the implementation of the IBLTM Model was effective in improving students' scientific literacy. This is indicated by a significant increase in science literacy scores from pretest to posttest, with an average N-Gain of high category. The paired t-test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest. In addition, all indicators of science literacy increased, with several indicators reaching the high N-Gain category. Novelty: The IBLTM model applied in this study is an innovative learning approach that integrates the process of meaning in blended learning. This model has been proven to significantly improve scientific literacy, especially in science learning at the secondary school level, and shows that an interactive and meaning-based approach can positively impact students' scientific understanding
Prevalence of Use of Sports Trainer Services in Japanese High Schools: A Nationwide Survey
Objective: Sports trainers contribute to the safety of adolescent athletes. The status of sports trainer services (STS) that use a trainer-certified system and trainer perceptions differ among countries, and reports from different countries are needed to promote the global use of STS. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of STS and the reasons for its use in Japanese high schools. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2022. Participants were all club activity coaches from all high schools (around 70,000 coaches) in Japan. The primary outcome was the prevalence of STS use. We obtained information on the payment status when STS was used and the reasons they were not. Results: Of the 6045 coaches included, 10.5% used STS. Volunteer trainers comprised 29.9%, and if they were paid a fee, it needed to be more for a living. The most common reason for not using STS was "no suitable person" (70.8%). Novelty: This was the first large-scale survey of the prevalence of STS use in Japanese high schools. The prevalence of STS use in Japanese high schools was low

Application of A Guided Inquiry Learning Model to Improve Students' Scientific Literacy Skills
Objective: This study aims to determine the guided inquiry learning model's effectiveness in improving students' scientific literacy skills. Method: This is an experimental research with a one-group pretest-posttest design without using a control class. Results: The research results show that applying the guided inquiry learning model significantly increases students' scientific literacy. Data were analyzed using descriptive methods. Evaluation of the learning plan shows a good feasibility level in its implementation. Student learning outcomes have increased significantly, including understanding of science concepts and scientific skills. Most students progress positively in reading, understanding, and analyzing scientific information. These findings are strengthened by direct observations of students' active participation and involvement during learning. Thus, using the guided inquiry learning model positively contributes to increasing students' scientific literacy. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its new contribution to increasing scientific literacy by applying the guided inquiry learning model. The positive response from students to this learning model emphasizes its relevance in advancing scientific literacy. These findings show that the practical use of the guided inquiry model can improve students' understanding of concepts and scientific skills. Integrating this learning model into the learning context adds essential value to science education. The research results confirm that the effective use of the guided inquiry model can increase students' scientific literacy, making a significant contribution to preparing them to face future scientific challenges
The Role of Brain-Based Learning in Training Students' Critical Thinking Skills
Objective: This research aims to determine the role of brain-based learning in training students' critical thinking skills. Method: The research method used is a review article from 20 main scientific articles obtained from Google Scholar, Google, and Science Direct online with the keywords brain-based learning and critical thinking skills. Results: The results show that brain-based learning can be applied to gain critical thinking skills in mathematics and natural science material compared to conventional learning. Brain-based learning notes how the brain processes and interprets information after processing. A learning method that aligns with how the brain functions naturally will help students become more adept at critical thinking. Novelty: One of the most challenging issues of the 20th century is the improvement of information technology and the environment. Building quality human resources is a strategic and critical function of high-quality education. Today's students need to learn how to think critically

Whole Brain Teaching and Multi-Sensory Environments on Cognitive Science Development: Moderated by Children's Learning Preferences
Objective: This study aims to determine the impact of whole-brain learning and a multi-sensory environment on developing cognitive abilities in early childhood. Method: This research method uses a quantitative, quasi-experimental approach. The State University of Malang Laboratory Kindergarten's classes B and C served as the population for this study. The sample was determined by purposive sampling, so there were 60 children. We carried out the data collection process in this study using observation and closed interviews. We conducted observations to evaluate children's cognitive science abilities, encompassing information processing, intelligence, reasoning, language development, and memory. We used closed-ended interviews to measure the children's visual, audio, and kinesthetic learning styles. We processed the data using the SPSS 17.0 program, which included a validity test to determine the product moment, a reliability test with alpha Cronbach, a normality test with Kolmogorov-Smirnov, a homogeneity test with the Levene test, and hypothesis testing to test a two-way ANOVA. Results show a positive relationship between cognitive science development and learning preferences in children's learning styles, whether visual, audio, or kinesthetic. Novelty: This research can improve children's effective recall of information and open opportunities for more inclusive and adaptive learning according to each child's cognitive needs. Therefore, further research in this area has the potential to shape educational practices that are more effective in recognizing the development of cognitive science in children's learning
