    Assessment for Learning: Changes in the Role of Assessment in Learning

    The purpose of this research is to describe the state of assessment for learning (AfL) in science learning. The research was conducted in February 2021. This research was conducted with a descriptive method using data collection techniques, namely a survey via google form. Before the instrument is used, calibration and testing are carried out and the test results of all items are declared valid and reliable. The results showed that the teacher agreed to the use of Assessment for Learning (AfL) in science learning, which could activate the learning process and accelerate the achievement of goals. In addition to the use of Assessment for Learning (AfL) in science learning, teachers also answered effectively in developing students' literacy skills according to subject coverage. Assesment for Learning (AfL) provides an overview of how students learn and achieve learning goals effectively that can be reported to students' parents. The obstacle in implementing assessment for learning (AfL) is that teachers still find it difficult to compile and develop assessment-based learning designs that are in accordance with process standards, so that most of these teachers adopt learning designs that are already available from various sources, so that the role of assessment is not yet a an integral part of the teaching and learning process

    Educational Management Graduates: A Tracer Study from Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Indonesia

    Tracer Study is a study that can provide helpful information to evaluate higher education results and can then be used to improve and guarantee the quality of higher education institutions. This research uses a quantitative research approach with the type of survey research. The research population is graduates of the Educational Management Department who graduated in 2019 and 2020. The sample used is saturated sampling, where the entire population is a member of the sample. The study results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and extracted information about graduates, including the number of graduates. It includes who graduated, graduates employment status, waiting time for graduates, coverage of where graduates work, and other descriptions are required by Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi (i.e., BAN-PT). BAN-PT is an accreditation organization in Indonesia, where accreditation and input for curriculum development of Educational Management Department. The result showed that Educational Management graduates could be survived as employees or entrepreneurs that focus on Educational Management scope

    The Problem-Solving Skills Profile of Tsanawiyah Islamic School Students in the Vibration, Wave, and Sound Learning Materials

    The purpose of this study is to determine the profile of problem-solving instruments which applied in Tsanawiyah Islamic School on vibration, waves, and sound learning materials based on the expert validation assessment and student’s responses. This study used a pre-experimental design method, namely a one-shot case study and it was implemented in Tsanawiyah Islamic School. The sampling technique used purposive sampling using one class. Data collections used problem-solving skills instrument. The expert validation results showed that all of the instrument tests were very valid and it was declared fit for use. Student’s responses from 15 questions were valid because the instrument tests have difficulty level with medium category, although there was one number of the question has difficult category. The distinguishing power showed a good and a very good category although two numbers of questions were less categories. The problem-solving skills profile in Tsanawiyah Islamic School showed a good category in the expert validation noralthough student’s responses although there was a shortage. The limitation of the profile problem solving skills was hindsight from expert validation and students responses. The future research must be better and it can use appropriate learning model for this research like Model SEA-MEA (Self Efficacy Academic-Means Ends Analysis)

    The Effectiveness of Discovery Learning Model in Writing Descriptive Text

    This study is intended to describe the effectiveness of the application of discovery learning model in writing Descriptive texts. Learning process in education and training field is less related to daily life so that the participants are less passionate and bored. The learning process is still centered on the Widyaiswara/instructor (teacher centered). The problem examined in this paper is whether the discovery learning Model effective in improving the learning outcomes of training participants in the English Teacher Training class in writing Descriptive texts. This research used the Quasi experiment method, conducted at the Surabaya Religious Education and Training Center. Madrasah Aliyah Class I English teacher training class was as a control group while Madrasah Aliyah Class II English teacher training class was as an experimental group. Data obtained through four types of instruments: (1) achievement test, (2) observation, (3) interview, and (4) questionnaire. Data of test results analyzed using t-test statistics. The results showed that the discovery learning model can improve the learning outcomes of participants’ products and processes. Discovery learning model can be used as an alternative learning to write descriptive text

    Design of Learning Activities using Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT) Approach in Application of Derivatives

    Learning design is one of the factors that support the learning process in order to achieve learning objectives in all subjects including mathematics. Many approaches can be employed by a teacher in making learning design, one of which is rigorous mathematical thinking (RMT) approach. The RMT approach puts forward students actively in constructing their knowledge through the use of psychological tools and mediation. This article reports a set of learning activities designed through a developmental study using the RMT approach in the topic of application of derivatives. Participants of this research were twenty-six of 11th grade students from a private secondary school. Data were collected through written test and classroom observation. The research instruments were student worksheet and observation sheet. In the learning process, students use psychological tools to connect their previous knowledge to the material being studied. This makes students able to construct their own knowledge more thoroughly. On the other hand, with the mediation carried out by the teacher, students can focus more and understand each material well and bridge the conceptual errors.     The Implementation of the Quantum Teaching Strategy with Multiple Intelligence Approach at State Senior High School

    The purpose of this research was to improve student learning outcomes, activities, and positive responses. Classroom action research carried out in 4 stages: planning, action and observation, reflection, and revision that carried out in three cycles. Data were collected through test, observation, questionnaire, and documentation. The participants of this research are class XI-3 students of State Senior High School 1  Krembung. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitative. Observation cycle 1, motivation by the teacher, learning objectives, explanation of working on worksheets, worksheet systematics, class control, seating settings, and intelligence use are lacking. The mean obtained is 55 with grade completeness of 38%. Observation cycle 2, delivery of learning objectives hastily, connecting material with daily phenomena is less clear, concluding that the material is not systematic. However, many students begin to maximize their intelligence to obtain a mean 63.75 with class completeness of 60%. Observation cycle 3 shows an improvement, and the process runs smoothly so that the mean is 74 with grade completeness 81%. Students' positive activity increased from cycle I to cycle III while learning achievement from cycle one to cycle three increased respectively by 38%, 60%, and 81%. The student’s response questionnaire showed that students had a positive attitude with 81.73% and 18.27% negative. In conclusion, student achievement and activity in learning had increased and received a positive response

    Physics Teacher's Misconceptions About Direct Current Material

    The teacher's conception is one of the misconceptions that students encounter, so it is critical to uncover the status of the teacher's conception in order to improve the students' conception. The purpose of this study is to identify physic’s teachers misconceptions about direct current material. There were 16 Physics Teachers in one of the districts in East Java, including 7 (seven) teachers from the Public High School (Negeri) and 9 (nine) teachers from private schools (Swasta). This research is a quantitative descriptive analysis research. A three-tier diagnostic test was used to analyze the data, which revealed that the average percentage of misconceptions faced by teachers was 58% in a medium category. The results also showed that physics teachers had the highest rate of misconceptions in the Potential Difference sub-concepts (94%), while the Series Circuit concept had the lowest proportion of misconceptions (25,50%). misconceptions experienced by physics teachers must be addressed immediately, because it will have an impact on students' conceptions. The results of this study are very important for policy makers, especially the Education Office to find solutions in breaking the chain of physics misconception

    The Effect of Learning Motivation on Learning Independence and Learning Outcomes of Students in the Package C Equivalence Program

    The purposes of this research are (1) Knowing the effect of learning motivation on the learning independence of students in the Package C Equivalence Program in; (2) Knowing the effect of learning motivation on student learning outcomes of the Package C Equivalence Program students. This research uses quantitative research with correlational methods. The number of research samples was 120 students. There are two variables in this research, namely the independent variable and the dependent variable. The independent variable is the treatment of this study, namely learning motivation. The dependent variable is learning independence and learning outcomes. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and tests. Questionnaires are used to determine the results of learning motivation and learning independence, while tests are used to determine learning outcomes. Hypothesis test data analysis technique is simple linear regression analysis.     Contextual Based Learning Media Development to Train Creative Thinking Skill in Primary School

    The goal of this research is to produce learning media used context make pia cake that has category valid, practical and effective to train creativity thinking learning in primary school students.  The research was conducted in 5th grade elementary school as many as 30 students. The research method used is three stages of the 4D model, namely definition, planning, development with the design of one group pretest - posttest design. This research produces 1) validity data syllabus (very valid), lesson plan (valid), teaching materials (valid), worksheet (very valid) and creative thinking skills test (valid); 2) Practicality data taken from the implementation practicality of lesson plan with good criteria; 3) The effectiveness of the device produces an N- Gain value from four components of creative thinking i.e. fluency in the high category, flexibility originality and elaboration are medium. The student's response shows delight and intrigue when learning is done using the development of contextual learning devices to train students' creative thinking skills

    The Development of Two Stay-Two Stray Cooperative Learning Instrument on Respiratory System to Improve Scientific Literacy Skills

    Science literacy is an ability to understand, communicate science through oral or written, apply and analyze the current scientific issues in society.  This study aims to produce a valid, practical, and effective learning tool, and has been carried out using the 4D (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate) method; however, the Disseminate one wasn’t carried out. The examination was limited in using one group pretest-post test design. The study was conducted within two meetings with 16 who were doing online learning. The data retrieval used a validated instrument. RPP tools with very decent results, LKPD tools (Student Worksheets) with very decent results, and test kits (Pre-test and post-test) with very decent results. As the result, the learning method shows to be very decent, effective, and practical, while the items of the method used are included in the sensitive category ≥0.30
