Enhancing project quality through effective team management
This study aims to explore the relationship between team management and project quality, identify key contributing factors, and examine the role of employee involvement, commitment, and innovation. An empirical, cross-sectional study was conducted using an online survey to gather data from 510 respondents across various industries, projects, and experiences. Data analysis employed statistical techniques to reveal patterns and trends. Key factors contributing to project success include communication, comprehensive planning, clear roles and responsibilities, stakeholder requirements, and a supportive work environment. The significance of proper management approaches, techniques, and attitudes was also highlighted. The findings contribute to the current body of knowledge on project quality management and emphasize the need for a human-centered management approach to achieve high-quality project outcomes. This study sheds light on the pivotal role of effective team management in project quality, providing valuable insights and recommendations for project managers, team leaders, and organizations seeking to improve project performance
Team delivery capability and agility: complementary effects on information systems development project outcomes
Contemporary Information systems development (ISD) involves not only implementing a predefined set of requirements but also managing changes that emerge during the development process due to unanticipated business and technical needs. ISD project requirements increasingly become both planned and emergent. ISD teams need delivery capabilities to routinely execute what has been planned, and agile capabilities to sense and respond to changes that emerge during the development project. In other words, ISD teams must effectively manage their abilities to not only routinely deliver software applications that meet defined requirements but also sense and respond to changes emerging during the project. The extant literature has not studied the distinction and relationship between ISD team delivery capability and agility. This study empirically examines the differential effects of ISD team delivery capability and agility on ISD project outcomes. Survey data collected from professionals working on 160 software development projects were used to test the research model and hypotheses. The results suggest that ISD delivery capability positively affects agility, agility positively impacts change-response outcome, and agility mediates the relationship between delivery capability and change-response outcome
Dialogues between picturebooks for children and childhood sciences and cultures
This article brings reflections on contemporary children’s literature in dialogue with the childhood views originated in social sciences and in comparative studies of the Portuguese language. These studies are associated to the hearing of children’s voices and to analytical readings of illustrated books. In the field of social sciences, Daniel Goldin’s, David Buckingham’s and Manuel Sarmento’s research works are here imbricated. The titles we examined were selected during a visit to Portugal in 2022, plus the Brazilian work Inês (2015) by Roger Mello and Mariana Massarani, all of them examples of a literary production that comprehends the young reader’s full interpretation and re-creation skills. The analysis of this material composes a critical fortune, contextualized to demonstrate a net of formation agents of multidisciplinary character that are transformed into plurisignificant crafts in dialogue with child cultures
We are three Brazilian women researchers who undertook the Advanced Scientific Doctoral Internship at the Child Studies Research Centre of the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal, and this paper arises from that six-month period, spent under the supervision of Professor PhD Fernando Ilídio da Silva Ferreira. Using an experience report as a qualitative method to provide reference data, our goal is to carry out a meaning-making analysis based on what we experienced, revealing the potential for new theoretical constructions within the socio-historical context of Portugal, as seen through our perspectives and learning. For this work, we selected everyday scenes that we have experienced in Portugal, and in our daily interactions with children, essentially seeking to understand signs of freedom and democracy in the 49 years since the 25th of April Revolution. In the text, we discuss issues such as the safety and freedom of women in public spaces, the role of the state and civil society in promoting gender equality, and the importance of childhood in building a democratic society. We highlight the complexity of the experience we have each had of being a foreign woman in a country that has a history marked by struggles for rights and democracy. At the same time, we recognize the challenges and contradictions still present, such as the persistence of gender-based violence. In summary, we conclude that freedom is a continuous achievement that requires struggle and resistance
Victor Hugo e a tradução.
The aim of this paper is to follow the evolution of Victor Hugo’s own thinking on the idea of translation and the translator. In fact, in 1819, Victor Hugo felt outraged by a translation in verse of Homer into French: “It is monstrous and untenable”, stating that “a translation in verse of anyone, made by anyone, seems [to him] absurd, impossible and chimerical”, thus a priori suggesting that Victor Hugo is an advocate of untranslatability. In his youth, Victor Hugo understood any translation to be forbidden, a taboo, assigning the utmost importance to the author himself. But his point of view will evolve with time. The work done by his son, François-Victor Hugo, from 1858 to 1866, would bring him a new horizon in the field of translation. Hard work, thus leading to a revaluation of the task of the translator, by treading a laborious, yet stimulating path. Tributary of his time, Victor Hugo gives us a whole new process of renewal of ideas around French discourse on translation. This article aims to delve into the universe of Victor Hugo in order to clarify such an individual evolutionary perspective throughout the nineteenth century. We will do so by analysing his writings on a chronological basis, starting from the works written in his early youth to those published during exile

A viagem do silêncio. Cartuxa de Santa Maria Scala Coeli
Santa Maria Scala Coeli was the last monastery of the Carthusian Order in Portugal. For centuries, space was a world accessible only to the monks who lived there. With the departure of the last religious in 2019, the complex was temporarily visitable until it closed again to welcome the sisters of the Order of the Incarnate Word. The change of paradigm (from the masculine to the feminine order) will bring a new experience to the iconic Alentejo monastery, but the atmosphere will certainly remain unchanged, based on a religious community structured around silence and isolation. This reflection aims to reproduce a dichotomous view between religious space and time, enclosure and isolation, the axis from which the old – and new – community align their daily experience. Because the spirit of the place has only been touched upon, the methodology crosses investigation and narrative poetics in an attempt to better reproduce the transiently experienced atmosphere.
Waste management should be geared towards preventing waste production (reducing its quantity and hazard), preserving natural resources (taking into account the economic value of waste as a potential source of raw materials and energy), and to mitigate the adverse impacts on the environment and human health resulting from its production, by creating appropriate conditions for its management, based on the optimisation of the use of existing infrastructure. The pursuit of these objectives requires agents operating in the waste sector to comply with a set of requirements for the development of their activity, under penalty of the application of administrative and/or sanctioning measures, which aim to hold them accountable (by action or omission). Decree-Law no. 24/2024, of March 26(th), promoted a set of amendments to the General Waste Management Regime and the Unified Regime of Specific Flows, expanding the catalogue of administrative offences as a deterrent instrument against the possible adoption of illegal practices by the agents involved in waste management operations and/or specific streams
