The article also analyzes Abu Ali ibn Sina's views on educating the human psyche. The aim of the study is to show that the term didactics was first used by Central Asian thinkers

Probabilities and the Risky-Choice Framing Effect

    No full text
This project investigated framing effects as a function of probabilities in the risky option. We replicated three results from DeKay et al.'s (2022) article on metastudies, including smaller framing effects for extreme probabilities. DeKay, M. L., & Garge, P. P. (2023). Probabilities and the risky-choice framing effect: Evidence for an inverted-U pattern. Decision, 10(4), 289–312. https://doi.org/10.1037/dec0000214 See the Wiki for a link to the article. Abstract: In the risky-choice framing effect, most people prefer a certain option over a risky one when the options are framed as gains, but this preference is typically reversed when the options are framed as losses. Past research has largely neglected how the size of this effect varies as a function of the probabilities in the risky option. DeKay et al. (2022) recently reported an inverted-U pattern in which the effect is smaller for extreme probabilities (e.g., .01, .99) than for moderate probabilities. This pattern is predicted by some theories but not others. We report a replication of the inverted-U pattern and other results involving varieties of risk comparisons (certain vs. risky, somewhat risky vs. risky, and certain vs. somewhat risky) in a preregistered online experiment (N= 807). Results indicate that the framing effect is significantly smaller but still sizeable at extreme probabilities. An internal meta-analysis (N = 2,518) confirms the reliability of the inverted-U pattern and its moderation by risk comparison. We also assess how well five theories (prospect theory, transfer-of-attention-exchange theory, fuzzy-trace theory, fuzzy-trace theory with rounding of extreme probabilities to 0 or 1, and the priority heuristic) account for seven features of the data. None of these theories account for all of the results, though transfer-of-attention-exchange theory edges out prospect theory, which edges out the others. These results highlight the value of assessing an effect’s generalizability over variations in experimental materials

    CHEKHOV'S TRADITIONS IN "WOMEN'S PROSE

    No full text
The problem of literary traditions continuity, namely the influence of the literary heritage of A. P. Chekhov on contemporary Russian women’s prose is examined. The women’s prose in this article is considered as a literary and social phenomenon, which has some peculiarities in the artistic depiction of reality. In particular, women’s prose is characterized by accentuation on spiritual qualities of character, his / her inner world, feelings, inner struggle. It is noted that in the constant treatment of women writers to A. P. Chekhov’s works the author of the article sees gender base: contemporary writers are close to the topic of the origin of the feelings against the background of everyday hustle and bustle in his works, misunderstanding of the characters and, as a consequence, their loneliness. In addition, women writers often turn to books with memorable female characters, having typical features. Material for the study were the works by the famous contemporary Russian women writers: L. Ulitskaya, L. Petrushevskaya, T. Tolstaya, V. Tokareva, D. Rubina. The author concludes that the obvious intertextual links with the Chekhov’s pretext can be traced in their works, shows the influence of Chekhov’s ideas on the works of representatives of Russian women’s prose of the present time, and at the same time notes that women writers originally interpret the eternal themes of love and lonelines

COVID-19 THROUGH THE LENS OF GENDER

    No full text
Large-scale emergencies, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, have a widespread impact across multiple areas. In COVID-19, evidence of gender and sexual difference social and economic impacts is increasing. Although online resources have worked to compile this evidence, the available gender and gender-disaggregated data relating to COVID-19 must be assessed and synthesized. This literature review will evaluate and compile current literature and evidence from several disciplines systematically. We will include pairs reviewed papers, clinical and reporting studies and relevant research papers through secondary and primary analysis of data. The evidence of multitudinous outcomes, including sexual and gender differences in diets, severity, treatment outcomes, exposure to violence, mental and psychosocial assistance, and economic insecurity will be synthesized and described in the COVID-19. These results can be used to inform policy, identify research gaps, and support priority interventions recommendations. Pandemics and outbreaks affect both women and men differently. Experiences of individuals are likely to vary depending on their biological and genders characteristics and their interaction with other social determinants, due to risk of exposure and the biological susceptibility to infections. Therefore, the preparation and response of COVID-19 must be grounded in a strong analyzed gender and ensure meaningful participation in the decision-making and execution of affected groups, including women and girls. WHO calls on its Member States and all global players to direct investments in quality and gender-sensitive research into the negative impacts of COVID-19 on health, society and economy .Countries should include a focus upon gender in their COVID-19 reactions to ensure that gender and how it interacts with other areas of inequality are taken into account in public health policy and measures to curbs the epidemic. In this article, the gender base analysis is demonstrated by ongoing Covid -19
