    I-MAP Study

    No full text
The I-MAP Study employs innovative idiographic research methods (both ESM and mixed methods) that allow fine-grained exploration of both depression and psychotherapeutic changes in adolescents. It aims to contribute to more idiographic knowledge on how and why psychotherapy works for depression in adolescence and more valid idiographic research. It comprises three key objectives: The I-MAP Study aims to 1) identify idiographic networks in adolescent depression experiences prior to therapy 2) identify ideographic change patterns over the course of therapy 3) employ mixed methodology to contribute to the conceptualisation and validation of idiographic approaches based on youth perspectives For this project, we closely collaborate with Tejo, a community-based care facility in Flanders (Belgium)

The Transition To Life With Bowel Elimination Stoma: A Nursing Intervention Program

    No full text
A person with an intestinal elimination stoma faces daily physical, psychological and social challenges. The way in which this event is experienced is influenced by multiple factors, with self-care competence in stoma management being the aspect with the greatest impact on adaptation. Existing nursing intervention programmes, both nationally and internationally, tend to focus either on adaptation processes or on the semantic description of interventions, sometimes addressing only specific perioperative stages or limited domains of self-care competence. Furthermore, they do not define, in an objective and rigorous manner, the nursing interventions themselves, their content, methods of delivery, or dosage. Therefore, the aim of this project was to develop and evaluate the adequacy and feasibility of a nursing intervention programme to promote self-care in individuals with an intestinal elimination stoma, providing guidance for nurses in clinical practice. To achieve the proposed objectives, the Medical Research Council framework for the development of complex interventions was adopted. Initially, a scoping review of the literature was conducted, focusing on interventions aimed at promoting self-care in individuals with an intestinal elimination stoma. Subsequently, a qualitative study was undertaken using semi-structured interviews and content analysis according to Bardin’s categorical analysis approach, with the aim of exploring the perspectives of clinical nurses and service users regarding the promotion of self-care in individuals with an intestinal elimination stoma. Based on the evidence identified and the findings of the qualitative study, a first version of the nursing intervention programme for the promotion of self-care in intestinal elimination stoma (PIPO-EI) was developed. To assess the adequacy and feasibility of the programme, a qualitative focus group study was conducted with stoma care nurses and academic staff specialising in nursing education, particularly in the areas of self-care and stoma therapy. The proposed content and structure of the PIPO-EI were considered representative of identified needs and applicable in clinical settings. Additionally, five informational leaflets focused on stoma self-care were developed and evaluated. These were considered relevant and demonstrated potential as useful resources to support nurses’ interventions in promoting self-care among individuals with an intestinal elimination stoma in Portugal. The results of this doctoral thesis contribute to the discipline of Nursing, with the potential to improve the quality and equity of care provided to individuals with a stoma, supporting care planning and serving as a practical resource for nurses

The Executive Functions in Higher Education Scale (EFEES) is a self-report instrument designed to assess executive functioning processes in university students. The scale was developed and structurally validated in a sample of Mexican higher education students. Users of this instrument should cite the following article when using the scale: Zamora-Lugo, S., Reynoso-Alcántara, V., Sanchez-Lopez, J., Vergara-Lope, S., Ocampo-Gómez, E., García-Gomar, M. Measuring Self-Control Beliefs: A Multidimensional and Context-Specific Perspective

    No full text
This online questionnaire study with UK participants (n=182) examined the structure of people's self-control beliefs by adding a new dimension to the scale previously used in this line of research. More specifically, in addition to measuring whether or not self-control/willpower is seen as a limited resource, we examined whether people see self-control as fixed versus malleable and how these to dimensions relate to each other. Additionally, we tested how these beliefs are associated with self-esteem, trait self-control, age and other demographic variables

Gestão de Projetos Civis e Melhoria de Processos: Estudo de Caso da Empresa de Água Potável de Tulcán

    No full text
The Tulcán Municipal Public Water and Sewerage Company (Epmapa-T) faces challenges in the execution of civil projects due to operational inefficiency, missed schedules, and low user satisfaction. A critical problem was detected in the pre-contract phase, which takes 3 to 4 months (38.8% of perceptions) due to fragmented interventions in different areas. This research aimed to analyze the influence of management factors on process improvement. A mixed methodology (descriptive-correlational) and a non-experimental case study were used, surveying 47 strategically selected collaborators and users. The statistical results (Multiple Regression) showed that Lack of Communication and Inefficiency in Document Management are the variables that causally explain the negative impact of delays (p<0.05). More than 73% perceive that schedules are met only occasionally or rarely. Furthermore, Emergency Response Time was found to be the most significant predictor of user satisfaction (p<0.01). The conclusion is that the solution requires the implementation of integrated management models to address fragmentation and prioritize investment in emergency response capacity to ensure the social return of projects.A Empresa Pública Municipal de Água Potável e Esgoto de Tulcán (Epmapa-T) enfrenta desafios na execução de projetos civis devido à ineficiência operacional, descumprimento de cronogramas e baixa satisfação do usuário.
