Rejection of Technoculture in The Avenger: Infinity War Movie by Anthony and Joe Russo: An Application of Jean Francois Lyotard’s Postmodern Theory
No full textThis research is intended to analyze the technoculture work and rejected in the Avengers: Infinity War using Jean Francois Lyotard postmodern theory. The source of data in this study is the Avengers: Infinity War movie by Anthony and Joe Russo that is published in 2018. The data was collected from watches the movie several times, collecting the dialog, and screenshotting the image that related to the issue. The postmodern theory of Jean Francois Lyotard is used as a tool for analyzing the finding of technoculture in the Avengers: Infinity War. The result of this study shows that: (1) technoculture are represented through the power of technology and science such as Captain America, Spiderman, Iron Man, and Hulk, Individualism is one of the characteristics of a modernist society. Individualism is displayed through Iron Man and Thor that think they can solve their own problems. Rationality is the quality or state of being rational based on agreeable to reason
An Analysis of Metafunction in Nick Vujicic\u27s Motivational Speech Hear the Heart on YouTube
No full textThis study aims to analyze the language metafunctions in Nick Vujicic\u27s Hear the Heart speech using Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory by M.A.K. Halliday and supported by other Systemic Functional Linguists theories. This study employed the qualitative method. 499 data clauses are investigated in this study. The result shows that in terms of ideational metafunction, the dominant process used by Nick was the mental process (33,07%) which indicates that he involved his senses to represent his experiences of the outer world as well as the inner world of his thoughts and feelings. In interpersonal metafunction, declarative mood (72,34%), high value of modality (38,50%), and second personal pronoun (58,62%) are the most frequently used in the speech, which shows his high commitment and certainty of the information he uttered and also to show his care and respect for the audience; thus, a close intimate relationship is maintained. Through textual metafunction, which is dominated by topical theme (52,70%), Nick attempts to get the audience\u27s attention to focus on the message of what is being said and gives many statements to tell the audience about his experiences in life. To conclude, by using the three metafunctions, Nick could organize his language choice properly to create meaning and achieve his purpose in the speech.
Women Language in Mean Girls Movie Script by Tina Fey
Get PDFThis research entitled Women Language in Mean Girls Movie Script, aims to classify the women language features and the functions based on Lakoff’s theory found in Women Language in Mean Girls Movie Script by Tina Fey based on Lakoff’s theory. The data is collected through downloading movie script and movie, reading the movie script, watching and checking movie script, screen shooting the movie, the last is coding and classifying the features and functions of women’s language. Technique of data analysis is done through presenting, describing, interpreting, and concluding the data. Based on the finding and discussion, the researcher concludes there are ten features of women language, the researcher found ten features used by the character in the Mean Girls movie script. They are lexical hedges or filler 7 data, tag questions 3 data, rising intonation on declaratives 2 data, empty adjectives 2 data, avoidance of strong swear words 2 data, empathic stress 1 data, super polite forms 1 data, precise color terms 1 data, hypercorrect grammar 1 data, and intensifiers 1 data. Then, there are five language functions, but the researcher only found four functions in the Mean Girls movie script. They are to express uncertainty 3 data, to get response 5 data, to soften utterance 4 data, and to express feelings 9 data. 
Deontic Modality in The Invisible Man Movie (A Systemic Functional Linguistics Perspective)
Get PDFThis research discusses the aspects of action and speech that are contained in The Invisible Man movie based on the theory of Jespersen and Palmer (2007) in the sub-categories commissive, directive, and volitive. The objective of this research is to describe deontic modality in three sub-categories commissive, directive, and volitive in The Invisible Man movie. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The sources of data of this research are audio visual as primary data and written utterances from screenshotting and transcribing as secondary data. The data is from The Invisible Man movie. Data collection was carried out by searching and downloading movies, watching movies, screenshotting, classifying, and coding. Data were analyzed by presenting, describing, interpreting, and concluding data to answer research questions from this research. The results show that 18 data are included in the sub-categories commissive, directive, and volitive. Deontic modality appears because it is made by several characters in the movie that make promises and threats (commissive), make requests, order others to do something, give suggestions, carry out obligations (directive), and hope for something (volitive). The researcher found that the characters in The Invisible Man movie adopt deontic modality aspects that focus on the sub-categories commissive, directive, and volitive modality because many scenes show how aspects of the three sub-categories are used by characters to overcome existing problems. These three sub-categories are related to each other, the existence of a commissive that will lead to the directive to volitive.

Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah nilai moral yang terdapat dalam Cerita The Best of Fabel Al-Qur\u27an Karya Adji Annisa Zakiandini. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk menemukan nilai moral yang terdapat dalam Cerita The Best of Fabel Al-Qur\u27an Karya Adji Annisa Zakiandini. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskripsi kualitatif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kepustakaan. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu data yang diambil dari kutipan-kutipan yang terkait dengan moral atau penelitian relavan dengan penelitian ini yang terdapat dalam Cerita The Best of Fabel Al-Qur\u27an Karya Adji Annisa Zakiandini. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori Struktural. Cerita fabel ini khusus mengambil tiga cerita yakni, Kisah Empat Ekor Burung Merpati, Kisah Burung Hud-Hud, dan Kisah Lebah. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai moral dalam hubungan manusia dengan diri sendiri terdiri atas: harga diri, percaya diri, rasa takut, rasa rindu, dan tanggung jawab. Nilai moral dalam hubungan manusia dengan manusia lain dalam lingkup sosial terdiri atas: berpikir positif, tolong menolong, kasih sayang, kepedulian, dan saling toleransi. Serta nilai moral dalam hubungan manusia dengan Tuhannya yaitu percaya takdir Tuhan dan bertakwa.

PERANAN MAOLA DAUD DALAM PEMBANGUNAN KABUPATEN MUNA 1986-1994
No full textPenelitian ini mengkaji tentang Peranan Maola Daud dalam Pembangunan Kabupaten Muna 1986-1994 dengan tujuan untuk: (1) menjelaskan peran Maola Daud dalam pembangunan Kabupaten Muna. (2) menjelaskan kendala yang dihadapi Maola Daud selama memimpin Kabupaten Muna. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah yang terdiri dari lima tahapan, yakni: Pemilihan topik, heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Maola Daud merupakan Bupati Muna ke-VII yang menjabat sejak tahun 1986-1994. Di masa kepemimpinan Maola Daud, Kabupaten Muna mengalami berbagai macam pembangunan dari berbagai bidang baik mulai bidang perekonomian, pendidikan dan infrastruktur. Pada pengembangan bidang perekonomian, Maola Daud melakukannya dengan mengeluarkan berbagai program dalam sektor pertanian serta pembagian alat sebagai pendukung kreativitas masyarakat Muna. Dalam pengembangan bidang pendidikan, Maola Daud melakukannya dengan mempelopori beberapa pembangunan sarana belajar mengajar di beberapa wilayah Kabupaten Muna dari Sekolah Dasar sampai dengan Perguruan Tinggi Swasta. (2) Dalam rangka melaksanakan pembangunan Kabupaten Muna, Maola Daud menghadapi berbagai kendala. Pada umumnya yang menjadi kendala Maola Daud selama menjabat sebagai Bupati Muna adalah status Kabupaten Muna yang pada saat itu belum otonomi daerah sehingga segala jenis pembangunan yang akan dilaksanakan bergantung pada Pendapatan Asli Daerah.

PELABUHAN TOROBULU PADA MASA PENDUDUKAN JEPANG, 1942-1945
No full textArtikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tentang bagaimana awal berdirinya Pelabuhan Torobulu, fungsi Pelabuhan Torobulu terhadap sektor ekonomi rakyat setempat menjelang kedatangan Jepang di Torobulu. Selain itu juga membahas fungsi Pelabuhan Torobulu masa Pendudukan Jepang di Torobulu? Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sejarah maritim yang bersifat deskriptif kualitatif dan menggunakan pendekatan struktural. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah menurut Kuntowijoyo dengan melalui lima tahapan kerja antara lain: pemilihan topik, heuristik, verifikasi/kritik sumber, interpretasi dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian ini mengemukakan bahwa awal mula berdirinya Pelabuhan Torobulu bersamaan pada saat Belanda menguasai Kendari. Mereka mulai melaksanakan sistem pemerintahannya di daerah-daerah pedalaman termasuk di wilayah Torobulu. Salah satu hal yang dianggap menguntungkan Belanda di Torobulu adalah dengan dibangunnya Pelabuhan Torobulu. Meskipun secara fisik pembangunannya masih dalam kerangka yang sangat sederhana. Namun hadirnya pelabuhan ini sangat besar pengaruhnya hingga masa sekarang terus mengalami perkembangan. Pelabuhan Torobulu memiliki pengaruh bagi sektor ekonomi masyarakat terutama pada aspek perdagangan. Letak Pelabuhan Torobulu yang startegis menjadi bandar pelabuhan sangat cocok bagi pedagang lokal maupun pendatang untuk menjual barang dagangannya di Torobulu. Kaum nelayan juga diuntungkan dengan hadirnya pelabuhan tersebut dalam menyandarkan kapalnya serta menjual hasil tangkapannya dari melaut. Di sisi lain Pelabuhan Torobulu memiliki fungsi dan posisi yang strategis sehingga sangat cocok untuk dijadikan sebagai daerah pertahanan tentara Jepang dalam menguasai wilayah Torobulu. Mereka menjadikan Pelabuhan Torobulu sebagai markas pengintaian (mata-mata) dalam mengawasi dan menjaga wilayah kekuasaan Jepang di kawasan tersebut
Tradisi Mapparola pada Masyarakat Bugis di Kelurahan Wawotobi Kabupaten Konawe
No full textThis study aims to answer the formulation of the problem, namely how the process and function of the Mapparola tradition in the Bugis community in the Wawotobi Village, Konawe Regency by analyzing and describing the data on these traditions. The mapparola tradition is one of a series of processions in Bugis wedding customs which are carried out after the ceremony. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method. Data collection was carried out using observation techniques, in-depth interviews and document studies. The informant determination technique in this study was carried out by purposive sampling. The data analysis technique uses three stages, namely (1) data reduction; (2) data display (data display); (3) drawing conclusions/verification (conclusion drawing/verifwing). The results of this study indicate that the Mapparola procession of carrying out the Mapparola tradition is still carried out with stages of implementation that have been passed down from generation to generation. While the functions contained in the tradition include; The Whole Functioning (stating the function of mapparola as the integration of the entire tribe community), Function of the System (functioning of the unity of political, cultural, economic systems, etc.), and Sociological and biological functions (cultural preservation not only on biological heritage, but Mapparola\u27s sociological heritage as well very influential)
Pengobatan Tradisional Kapuntori di Desa Labone Kecamatan Lasalepa Kabupaten Muna
No full textKapuntori is an alternative method that is believed by the Muna people as a treatment to achieve one\u27s desires. This treatment spread among the Muna people through a process of inheritance from generation to generation by their ancestors. This research aims to find out the form and function of Kapuntori traditional medicine in the Muna community in Labone Village, Lasalepa District. This is a qualitative descriptive research with data collected through observation and interviews. Data analysis was carried out by listening to interview results, writing interview transcripts, sorting the data, and looking for relationships between functions based on the functionalism theory put forward by Malinowski. The traditional form of Kapuntori treatment carried out by Bhisa in Labone Village, Lasalepa District has a sspecific form, such as the use of water as a medium which has a cooling function and is easily absorbed by the body and is believed to be able to enter between the skin and bones in the body. Thus, a prayer that is blown into the water can be absorbed by the body immediately so that it quickly brings healing. This treatment also uses some leaves of herbal plants, namely Karuku. Kapuntori treatment has a suggestion function that aims to provide influence or views from one party (the shaman) to another party (the patient), as a result, the party being influenced will be moved to follow this influence or view and accept it directly, either consciously or unconsciously. This treatment also intends to hope for healing from Allah SWT through an intermediary of people who can cure diseases (Bhisa)
VARIASI GAMBAR CADAS DI CERUK LAKANTOBHE DESA LIANGKABORI KECAMATAN LOHIA KABUPATEN MUNA
No full textThe Lakantobhe rock-shelter site is one of the rock-shelter that has various rock arts. The site is located in Liangkabori village, Lohia sub-district, Southeast Sulawesi. Muna Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. This research investigated the form of images and variations in the form of rock art in the Lakantobhe rock-shelter site. The method used was data collection, data verifivication, documenting data and then data analysis. The last was data interpretation. The results of the research conducted, the Lakantobhe rock-shelter site has 46 panels with the number of images found, namely 133 images. The findings of these images have different shapes. These forms include human forms with a total of 4 variants, human and animal forms with a total of 4 variants, animal forms with a total of 6 variants, geometric with a total of 7 variants and abstract forms with a total of 35 images. Situs ceruk Lakantobhe merupakan salah satu ceruk yang memiliki berbagai gambar cadas. Situs ini terletak di Desa Liangkabori, Kecamatan Lohia, Kabupaten Muna, Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Penelitian ini menginvestigasi bentuk gambar dan variasi bentuk gambar cadas di situs ceruk Lakantobhe. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengumpulan data, verifikasi data, pendokumentasian data, kemudian analisis data. Langkah terakhir adalah interpretasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa situs ceruk Lakantobhe memiliki 46 panel dengan jumlah gambar yang ditemukan sebanyak 133 gambar. Temuan gambar-gambar tersebut memiliki bentuk yang berbeda-beda. Bentuk-bentuk tersebut meliputi bentuk manusia dengan total 4 varian, bentuk manusia dan hewan dengan total 4 varian, bentuk hewan dengan total 6 varian, bentuk geometris dengan total 7 varian, dan bentuk abstrak dengan total 35 gambar
