System for Visually Disabled through Wearables Utilizing Arduino and Ultrasound

    Get PDF
Blindness and other vision impairment is on the rise with more than 2.2 billion people worldwide are affected including children, elder persons, pregnant women, chronically ill and disabled persons who experience difficulties in mobility and being independent. Some of the conventional assistances like usage of white cane or a guide dog lacks the ability to cater all the needs of the blind people. The present research outlines a wearable system with Arduino and ultrasound equipment to improve the walking ability of the persons with vision impairment. From the use of the proposed system, there is the potentiality of detecting obstacles in real time and also determine the location hence minimizing the dependence on other help. The system consists of two wearable components: a glove and a belt which contain ultrasonic sensors, GPS module and GSM module and a vibration motor. The glove senses the objects that are in front of the user while the belt detects stairs or any other raised ground. The method used here was the development and calibration of these components separately then brought together to form a coherent entire system where all the component was precise and reliable. The findings show that the proposed system is successful to identify obstacles on its path before the user comes close to them and gives out alerts through sound and touch. GPS and GSM modules provide an extra layer of security to the kids by allowing a tracking of their location in real time

    Get PDF
The rapid development of information technology, especially the internet and smartphones, has changed the paradigm in the way humans interact and access information. In Indonesia, internet use has soared, with most access via smartphones. The growth of the mid-range smartphone market creates the need for a more in-depth assessment in selecting suitable products. To help potential buyers, this research proposes the use of a decision support system (DSS) that uses the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Multi-Objective Optimization by Ratio Analysis (MOORA) methods. AHP is used to determine the weight of the criteria, while MOORA is used to provide recommendations for smartphone selection. From the test results on 87 types of mid-range smartphones using a combination of these two methods, the recommendation results for mid-range smartphones with the Realme GT Neo 3T brand as first place, Realme GT Neo 3 as second place, and Poco F4 as third place

PT. Rajawali Sumber Rejeki is one of the manufacturing companies that produces cigarettes in Indonesia. The cigarette production process involving large machines has a high potential risk of accidents for employees. This study assesses and proposes improvements to the company's safety culture maturity as a material for evaluating the company's K3 policy so that the number of work accidents in the production process can be minimized. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 60 employees working in the company. Three expert judgments were also involved as determinants of the weight of the safety culture maturity variable using the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method. In addition, fuzzy theory is also used to reduce the subjectivity of the company's safety culture maturity assessment results. Then the improvement proposal is given with a safety model canvassing based on the results of the safety culture maturity assessment. The results of the study showed that the safety culture maturity of PT. Rajawali Sumber Rejeki is 3.5 which is included in the Complaint level. Based on the safety canvassing model that has been created, the priority for improving the safety culture maturity variables from the first to the last is organizational learning, competence, commitment, information & communication, risk, engagement & involvement, responsibility, and finally the leadership variable

Ethnic Value in Toraja’s Social Ritual: Cultural Education Perspective

    Get PDF
This article focuses on the examination of traditional burial rituals within the Toraja tribe. It compares the execution of funeral rites in the past, which were deemed customary, with those conducted in the late 1990s. By conducting a comparative analysis of the two ceremonies, it is anticipated that we may ascertain whether there has been any alteration in the execution of the ritual. According to Durkheim, the notion of the holy appears to be a genuine aspect of religious beliefs and practices in religious events. Religious individuals, when closely observed, distinguish between two distinct realms: the sacred realm and the profane realm. Sacred entities are consistently seen as superior, possessing great power, prohibited from engaging in regular interactions, and deserving of utmost reverence. Conversely, profane entities are mundane, unremarkable, and pertain to practical routines of everyday existence

    Get PDF
Indonesia's waste management capabilities are still weak. The majority of waste is still handled by collecting-transporting-disposing and even many are still not handled. This has caused many landfills to experience over capacity, including those in Sidoarjo Regency. However, the process of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) waste is also being carried out by the people of Sidoarjo Regency. Waste banks apply these principles and contribute significantly to reducing waste entering the landfill. Therefore, there needs to be an effort to improve the performance of waste banks, for example through training on the use of digital waste bank applications. The process of innovation diffusion is important so that work processes become more efficient and data can be stored properly. However, there are many obstacles in diffusing these innovations. This study aims to examine the diffusion innovation of digital application in supporting waste management in Sidoarjo Regency. Authors adopt qualitative research methods. The result shows that the innovation diffusion process encountered quite a lot of obstacles both from the change agent and from the client, in this case the waste bank administrator. Therefore, the objectives of the innovation diffusion have not been achieved
