    Female Athletes' Experiences Applying Basic Pencak Silat Skills in the Professional World

    Pencak silat is classified as a type of hard sport and if a woman decides to learn pencak silat it is considered taboo or inappropriate. However, the phenomenon found by researchers in the field is that there are female athletes who dare to break away from society's construction of women who are involved in pencak silat accompanied by the contribution of female athletes in achievements in sporting events, especially in the martial arts sport of pencak silat. This shows that women tend not to be weak. Based on the initial explanation that has been put forward, the author is interested in exploring this research which focuses on the experiences of female athletes. This research was carried out in the form of experience in using basic pencak silat skills. This research is a descriptive qualitative literature and participatory research. Based on research results, gender equality is still a hot issue to be discussed throughout the world, various efforts have been made to improve gender equality in various fields, including sports. In the world of sports, men and women should have the same rights to participate, excel and pursue sports professionally, but there are still many people who consider that sport is a masculine activity, where it is identified with men's and women's activities, which they feel is lacking. suitable for being involved in the world of sports

    Analysis of Assalam Family Product Elements in the Implementation of Tabarru' Fund Management: A Case Study on PT. AJS Bumiputera, Medan Branch

    Insurance is a form of financial protection that provides a guarantee of payment or benefit in the face of certain risks or losses. If the unexpected risk befalls one of the participants, the loss will be borne together. The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the elements of Assalam Family products in the context of the implementation of tabarru' fund management at PT. Bumiputera Sharia Life Insurance Medan Branch. This study uses a type of field research, with qualitative research methods, exploring data through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The results of the research obtained are that the Assalam Family Product Element uses the tabarru' contract as the basis for its implementation. The process involves two procedures, namely requesting an Assalam Family sharia life insurance policy and submitting a claim. Tabarru' funds are managed by separating participants' contributions into two separate accounts, participant savings accounts (saving system) and tabarru' accounts (non-saving system). The investment proceeds are divided 70% for participants and 30% for the company, with a risk management commitment of 50% of the contribution. The allocation of funds is invested in sharia stocks and bonds according to sharia principles. If the tabarru' funds run out, the qardh funds are used to overcome the inadequacy, which is taken from the central Bumiputera which is realized to the branches that lack funds to pay compensation or claims submitted by participants

    Survival Strategies of Fishermen in Bahodopi Amid Ecological Changes in Mining Areas

    This research explores the perspective of human adaptation as a cultural response to ecological change. Ecological and economic pressures drive humans to consciously choose and take advantage of opportunities in their ecological environment. The Bahodopi mining area is the context to explain human adaptation to these ecological changes. Nickel mining results in changes in the ecological environment that have an impact on people's lives. The destruction of the ecosystem affects the lives of people in mining areas such as fishermen in Bahodopi. Coastal fishermen in Bahodopi take advantage of the potential of marine resources by catching fish to meet their living needs before the mine. The marine and coastal environment as a habitat for fish is polluted by mining waste such as factory waste, other liquid waste, and mud materials due to the excavation of materials upstream damaging fish habitats. This condition is not favorable for fishermen because they cannot meet the economic needs of their families. Fishermen's economic activities have stopped because their catches have decreased along with the development of mining activities and the destruction of marine ecosystems. The Bahodopi mining area provides job opportunities for residents to become employees, entrepreneurs, service businesses, and the informal sector along with the number of mining workers. Utilization of natural resource potential such as being a stone breaker, wage labor in pepper gardens, and planting vegetables in the yard. Fishing families take advantage of the potential of other resources and economic opportunities as a form of adaptation to ecological changes

    Analysis of TikTok Utilization as a Reference Source for Students of UIN North Sumatra Library Science Study Program

    This paper examines the use of TikTok as a reference source by students in the Library Science Study Program at the University of North Sumatra with the view of determining its suitability for academic supplement. In the world where digital media and social platforms are widely used in education the concept of non-traditional sources such as TikTok is helpful. This research uses interview, observation and documentation as its data collection techniques and the data collected will be analyzed using the techniques presented by Miles and Huberman. The study shows that despite the fact that TikTok is famous for sharing informative and interesting videos, it is not well used by students as the main academic source. Some students are still skeptical, and therefore, rely on conventional learning materials, including books and scholarly journals, because of concerns relating to TikTok’s academic credibility and the risk of fake news. From the study, one can infer that social media platforms such as TikTok need to be incorporated in academic practices but in moderation while useful, they should not replace conventional sources. This research aims to add to the body of knowledge about digital literacy in higher education institutions and offers the educators an idea of how to encourage use of social media technologies and at the same time helping the students to remain active and critical evaluators of information

    Evaluation of Spring Season Local and Improved Rice Genotypes on Growth, Yield, and Yield Attributing Characters in Gorkha District, Nepal

    Rice cultivation faces challenges related to varietal selection, limiting the potential yield of spring rice crops. This study was conducted in the Rice Zone of Gorkha, Nepal during the spring season of 2022 with aim to evaluate the growth, yield, and yield attributing characters of different rice genotypes. The study hypothesized that significant differences exist among different rice genotypes in terms of their growth, yield, and yield attributing characters. The experiment employed a one-factor randomized complete block design (RCBD) with seven genotypes, including local varieties (Hardinath Hybrid 1, Chaite-5, CH 45, Salijudi) and pipeline genotypes (IR16L1919, IR10N118, IR86515), and replicated three times. Results indicated significant variations among genotypes in response to similar growing conditions and nutrient availability. Notably, CH 45 exhibited the highest plant height (113.50 cm), while IR16L1619 demonstrated the longest panicle length (28.56 cm) and the highest number of effective tillers (23.10). IR16L1619 also displayed the highest number of leaves (97.27 leaves) and leaf area index (8.00). Chaite-5 had the longest flag leaf (33.13 cm), while IR16L1619 recorded the highest panicle length (28.56 cm) and number of grains per panicle (270.10). Salijudi exhibited the lowest sterility percentage (7.52 %), and CH 45 displayed the highest thousand grain weight (26.40). Moreover, IR16L1619 demonstrated superior performance in terms of grain yield (8.19 t/ha), straw yield (7.12 t/ha), and biological yield (15.25 t/ha). The findings underscored the genotype-specific responses to environmental conditions, highlighting the importance of tailored varietal selection for optimal productivity

    Study of Some Immunologic Parameters in Aborted Women Infected with Toxoplasma Gondii

    The demographic data of the patients was collected using a pre-designed questionnaire that included information on age and exposure to animals. Written permission was obtained from all participants in this research.The research was conducted in Karbala Maternity and Pediatric Hospital as well as other private labs in Kerbala city, Iraq, from November 2022 to May 2023. The blood samples underwent centrifugation, and the levels of serum IgM, IgG, interleukin-27 (IL-27), and Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 (MCP-1) were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. The findings indicated that a total of 53 female individuals had abortion as a direct consequence of toxoplasmosis infection. The age group with the greatest incidence rate (56.6%) of toxoplasmosis was 18-26 years, whereas 79.2% of the patients were found to have had contact with animals. The blood immunoglobulin level analysis revealed that 98.1% of patients exhibited positive IgG findings, while 1.9% tested positive for IgM. In contrast, all healthy women in the control group tested negative for both IgM and IgG. The study found that women infected with toxoplasmosis had significantly higher levels of serum IL-27 (645.95 pg/ml) compared to the control group (88.26 pg/ml). Similarly, the infected women had significantly higher levels of MCP-1 (272.20 pg/ml) compared to the control group (48.83 pg/ml). These differences in interleukin levels were highly significant (P<0.0001). The present investigation indicates that women with recurrent abortion who were infected with T. gondii had elevated levels of IgG, IL-27, and MCP-1

    Antibacterial Activity of Seligi Leaf Extracts and Fractions against Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and Staphylococcus Aureus Bacteria and Their Bioautography

    Seligi leaf (Phyllanthus buxifolius muell. Arg) is one of the medicinal plants that are traditionally used by the community. This plant can empirically treat several diseases, thanks to the content of antibacterial compounds such as flavonoids and terpenoids. The bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus are the main causes of nosocomial infections. The purpose of this study is to examine the antibacterial activity of seligi leaf extract and fraction against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, as well as to identify active compounds that have an important role in these antibacterial activities. The extraction process is carried out using the maceration method with 70% ethanol. The antibacterial activity test was carried out by the disc diffusion method, with concentration of 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100% for extraction, then for all fractions a concentration of 50 %. The test results showed that the extract had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus on 8 mg/disk loading disk with inhibition zone diameters of 10.33 ± 0.58 mm and 12.16 ± 1.41 mm, but no inhibition zones formed against Pseudomonas aeruginosa on all loading disks. The identification of compounds in seligi leaves using the KLT method showed that the extract contained phenolics, flavonoids, and terpenoids, while the ethyl acetate fraction contained phenolics and alkaloids. However, bioautographic tests do not indicate any antibacterial potential

    Assessing the Impact of Reservoir Water Availability on Clean Water Quality

    This paper aims to explore the key issues that govern water resource management in a particular District of East Tanjungpinang in Indonesia with particular reference to the reservoir systems on which the District relies heavily especially during the rainy seasons. Using both statistical analysis of water quality data and case-study / interview data, this research demonstrates that the district is exposed to climate variability, increasingly inadequate water infrastructure, and pollution threats. The research study shows that the reduction in water levels is being accompanied by poor water quality both due to poor infrastructure and increased pollution from industrial, agricultural and domestic sectors. The study provides new directions for water management, it emphasizes the need for enhanced more adaptive and resilient water management approaches that include technologies, infrastructure and green infrastructure. This also raises the call to develop better governance systems that increase opportunities for people’s participation, better compliance with the law, and the incorporation of indigenous concepts with contemporary management systems. Overall, it advances the understanding of water security concept and provides findings and suggestions for other regions in the world experiencing the same issues in the management of the freshwater resources under the conditions of climate change and growing urbanization

    The Effect of Education Using the Health Belief Model Approach on Mother’s Behavior in Preventing Malnutrition for Toddlers Aged 1-3 Years

    Toddlers are the age group most often and prone to suffering from malnutrition or malnutrition. One of the causes of high malnutrition is the lack of public awareness in health care, especially mothers for their toddlers and monotonous counseling methods. One way to improve toddler health care can be done by providing education to mothers with various models, one of which is using the Health Belief Model approach. Education with the Health Belief Model approach provides a strong relevance between health education and behavior change. To find out the Effect of Education Using the Health Belief Model Approach on Mother's Behavior in Preventing Malnutrition in Toddlers Aged 1-3 Years at Posyandu Mawar, Kalipare Village, Malang Regency. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest and posttest design approach. The population of this study were mothers who had toddlers aged 1-3 years with malnutrition and at risk of 75 respondents who were then taken using a purposive sampling technique which obtained 42 respondents. The results of statistical tests using the Wilcoxon signed rank test obtained the value of Sig. (2-tailed) p-value = 0.00 (p <0.05) which means that there is an effect of education using the Health Belief Model approach on maternal behavior in preventing malnutrition in toddlers aged 1-3 years at Posyandu Mawar, Kalipare Village, Malang Regency . It is hoped that this research can be used to improve maternal behavior in preventing malnutrition in toddlers aged 1-3 years

    Literature Review: Effects of Turmeric for Reducing Lipid Profiles

    This literature review is a collection of several journals which aims to determine the effect of turmeric (Curcuma longa) on reducing lipid profiles, with emphasis on cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Turmeric is a daily food ingredient that is easy to find and has many good effects on the body, one of which is anti-inflammatory and anti-hypercholesterolemia. Hypercholesterolemia is a condition where the total cholesterol level in the body exceeds normal and can increase the risk of atherosclerosis. Curcumin is one of the active compounds in turmeric which has the function of reducing total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides which cause atherosclerosis and curcumin also increases the production of HDL cholesterol which helps protect against excess cholesterol accumulation which can cause heart and blood vessel disease. Based on several literature reviews, it is reported that the effectiveness of reducing cholesterol levels starts from a dose of 1000 mg - 1500 mg/day. The main aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness and safety of using turmeric as a supplement in reducing lipid profile levels in humans. Through this research, it is hoped that it can provide information regarding the effectiveness of turmeric as an effective additional therapy in managing lipid profiles
